Somehow I knew that I’d get a proper demo of this Telecaster. I was not not disappointed. Excellent playing and demonstration of the pickups. Thanks for the review. New subscriber.
Very nice playing and very informative! I just bought one today because of how nice the neck felt and that neck pickup to me sounded just perfect. These feel like much more expensive guitars than they are. Wish I could’ve bought one from you guys but sadly I live in Finland. But hope to visit the store still one day. Great video!
A few years ago I bought a Telecaster Deluxe, new $899. It has the 12" radius, narrow tall frets, noiseless pickups, separate bridge saddles, beveled heel, 4 position switch and locking tuners.
Absolutely amazing guitar for the price. It aims to be a MIM ultra and I think it really hits its goal. I’ve played the standard player plus tele and the Nashville now and yeah, unless you want those U and S letters at the start of the serial there’s nothing to fault with these guitars. The only slight criticisms I had is that it’s gone the epiphone route where this is a MIM version of an ultra so it has the noiseless pickups because the ultra does. Those are quite… specialised pups, especially for a tele so whilst it’s great to see noiseless pups offered in the MIM range, it would have been nice to see a player plus version without them too. But hey, you can buy this guitar, whack in whatever single coils you like, beef up the shielding and buy a decent noise gate and still have change left over from ultra money. I know what I’d do.
@@Markovkovich there’s a big enough upgrade in neck and nicer body shaping, as well as the electronics to justify the bump to player plus IMHO. Nothing wrong with the player tele’s of course, I have a player Jag bass, but yeah, different beasts. The standard is aiming for the old ‘American standard’, more traditional route, the plus is aiming to be the ultra, progressive one. So it really depends what you want. What I will say is buying a player and upgrading a few things gets you very close to an American professional 2, not so much a player plus. The neck would really be the only difference between them, and that’s quite personal anyway
I love my Les Paul. Needed some twang-tried a bunch of teles and disliked them all-except the Player Plus. Picked up the Silver Smoke. My search is over.
Lovely to play but mine had a crackle which the retailer said was static. They swapped it for a PRS se at a similar price point but the disappointing thing was it was a Tele and I like them! I've got USA teles and they're great but the crackle really spoiled this one. Check out the potential problem on the one you're trying out, there are a few videos reporting the same noise and forums mentioning it too. The shop got it to crackle too so it wasn't my home environment to blame!
Very helpful and detailed review thanks as I am looking to buy a player plus. One question I had is with the neck and body seeming to be a little thinner than traditional fender player tele, is the overall weight of the guitar lighter?
It's not a drop-in replacement - 4 screws on the ashtray vs. 2 on the Player Plus bridge (and the screw holes won't line up with the lower screws on the ashtray) - but it's possible with a few new holes drilled.
Traded for one a few months ago. Best Telecaster I have ever played. The neck is fantastic and the pickups are so versatile. Love it.

Definitely the best value guitar from Fender currently
I just bought one today from CTMusics in Bangkok, Thailand.
Amazing tones y’all got. Great playing as well. Trading my old p bass for a tele plus can’t wait

Thank You for this video I learned a lot
Thanks for the review
Love the rolled fretboard on my Player Plus Telecaster (also a sunburst, serial number MS212.... (the one in the video is MX211....).
A sculpted neck joint and it would have everything I want..
Exactly
Agreed. But then there would literally be no reason the buy the US model 😜
Incredible
Sold my "Made in America" Tele elite and got the "Made in Mexico" Tele Player Plus. Wouldn't trade back.

Try Letric care..you can get it through Stew Mac…..it works great on scratching pots, switches, etc

I Like it. But can't afford it now.Maybe next year.
Frets stainless steel?
Can anyone advise? I have the player plus strat already - which would complement a collection better the player plus Tele it the Nashville Tele?
I agree
Jon, will the player Plus accept a 3saddle Ashtray bridge?

Why on earth would you do that?
frets Stainless?
Wish it had a neck heel contour
12 inch radius is a deal breaker for me.
After one week, I guarantee you; you will love it or at least - be totally ok with it
If your going to piece the body should be painted in my opinion
Big John ain’t nothing smelly about your playing.
