Yes we Filipino were not accustomed to wear formal tuxedo during funerals. Wearing black or white shirt is enough. The important thing is we gather all the family, relatives and friends for the wake.
I read their child’s reply somewhere. Apparently tatay (we call old man as a sign of respect) is a seafarer, capt. He was onboard when his wife died and only got to see her on the 3rd day aftr she dies after he got repatriated and her remains was brought to her hometown. Then he sang her the song right after . Its the wake. Not funeral
This man works in a ship, he was able to come home 3 days after his wife died. He just arrived from a long trip and went straight to sing for his wife.
This Filipino guy was really brave to sing in front of his wife's funeral. Also, your wife is correct, in our culture(Philippines)during funeral,we don't need to wear a tuxedo or Filipino national clothes, what's important to us is the presence and the sympathy of the people. I cried as well because of your wife💙
It's a last night vigil or a wake not a funeral. Most of the Filipinos are catholic I'm sure the husband would not wear those attire in attending his wife burial mass.
As a Roman Catholic in the Philippines, we only wear formal clothes in church during burial mass. It is alright for us to wear casual clothes during wakes.
I thought i'm brave enough to watch this but then my eyes begun watery and tears fell in my cheeks unknowingly..this rendition of this song hits so hard due the way he sings...its like every words cuts through the hearts of anyone who hears it...we can feel what he feels...what a great singer indeed
I’ve not heard this song before, and I don’t think I could hear it differently without always hearing this man singing it. It’s beautiful, and it’s heartbreaking. Very hard not to cry.
My 81 year old father sang to my mom at her funeral here in California. He sang in our Ilocano dialect the song he wrote about her. It was a surprise to us, the family, but glad that he mustered the strength to do it. I remember him singing that song to her when she was still in the hospital and maybe in a few other occasions. I just wish that my American friends at the funeral understood the lyrics of the song because it was a beautiful tribute to her. 2 years later, Dad passed on and I can imagine them singing together in heaven.
I have read from other comments: this man works overseas like in a ship, and went back home for his wife's funeral. He asked all the visitors, friends, etc to leave the room for a short moment for his privacy,so to sing a song for his wife for the last time in this lifetime. The one recording was his son.
"He is a ship captain who arrived 3 days after his wife died. The one filming the video is his son. They asked everyone at the wake to step out of the funeral home so he can have personal time with his wife, his son and daughter, that is when he sang his heart out and his son filmed it."
I could just imagine and feel how is heart is so broken..he sang deeply in his heart..May God heal him and his children for the lost of their mother and wife
As a seafarer myself, I know just how he feels...I also lost a loved one while I was onboard. I'm in tears watching this..I can't help myself being in tears..as if things just happened yesterday. I'm so sorry for his family's loss...
This man singing for his dear late wife happened during the viewing not on the day of the funeral like judging what the husband wears he just arrived from overseas because he was a ship captain. A lot of reactors from YT asked why the husband isn't wearing a formal attire ie. tuxedo or Filipino national dress for men. This is heartbreaking to watch knowing a family man like this working overseas away from his family and then going home only to find out his wife passed away!
He is a captain of a ship abroad. His wife already been dead for three days.. After arriving at the airport in the Philippines, he went directly to his dearest wife without changing to a formal clothing.
we sometimes do that at a funeral here in the Philippines. Music plays a big role in our culture and most Filipinos know how to sing. According to the story, this man is a seafarer. Wife fell ill while he was away. He was waiting to come home to her, but she did not make it. She was unable to wait for him. She died without him there. This is his final tribute to her whom he loved so much. He held it all in according to the relatives. RIP to her. Truly sad yet amazing all the same. May God's grace guide him and may her soul rest in peace.
This man was an Overseas Filipino Worker(OFW).. a ship captain(intl).. and this was his private moment with his wife during the wake as soon as he arrived… coming home with your spouse in a coffin or your son or a daughter or even your parent is the most painful thing for an OFW.. I can’t imagine being away for days and having to come back to a loved one no longer being there. This poor man. I’m glad he chose to be vulnerable and brave and sing to her the way he did ♥️
Sometimes they’re gone for years. Philippines produce the most labor work for the world. From hospitality, nursing, constructions, maids, nannies and entertainment
@lennine9881 you forgot doctors, engineers, teachers, pilot, captains and CEO. There are a lot of doctors in the US who are Filipinos but they are forgotten to be called out because the focus is on the nurses. Even most topped the diplomate exam. Maybe because they either look like Mexicans or Chinese. Really sad. And teachers as well there a lot and soldiers too. My mom is teacher, my brother and sister are both engineer and my sister is a nurse soldier and me a doctor not in the philippines. Maybe because we are just silent, but the other nation who got a Filipino nanny immediately make blogs about her and immediately whole nation judge and stereotype Filipi os only having these jobs. Really sad
He was too powerful to do that, without cracking his voice, the vocals are on 🔥🔥🔥and you really feel his emotion,In that I really feel why Taylor cry so much, she made me added to cry Soo much😭😭😭
It's a wake. Usually, in the Philippines, we don't dress up formally until the funeral day. Also, given our tropical climate, for practicality, we just wear the most respectable and comfortable funeral clothes we have.
I couldn't imagine how painful it is to him going home just seeing his wife inside a coffin. I could feel that he really loves his wife that much to render that heartbreaking song

This was amazing and the love the Filipino man had for his wife. To be honest, I got too emotional inside and could not finish the rest of the video. God Bless.
For samoans, when it's usually the night before the burial, the family stays/sleeps over with the loved one who had passed. We sing and talk stories. We are in regualr home clothes. It's not a service but a family thing. I'm not sure how Filipinos do it, but I found it normal to see him in his regular clothes.
From the first day they met,he probably sang her a song, all throughout that marriage,it's just fitting that he will sing her one last song,on the last day he will see her.
Filipinos have a strong, deeply rooted singing culture; we sing in practically every occasions, students sing during graduations, during weddings, birthdays and even funeral wakes, restaurant staff sings for customers, office people sings for colleagues, random people singing in malls. We are emotional and affectionate people and the most common way we express this is through singing and music.
In every time that i am watching this video man i am definitely heart breaking. And this reaction video of a queen, I'm not pretending not to cry because she feels too much emotioned in it. But the one who sings is a sailor man and a captain in a ship. That's what I'd read from the comments before. And I thank you too through your reactions and a heart breaking moments of our queen that i am say sorry for that. Have a good day guys.
My husband told me about this video.. And...I just cried.. can't find words to express the sadness this man showed. Salute. A Filipino here.. watching you react guys.
So sad.... This guy is very brave enough to sing a sad song to his wife.. I think it is one way of expressing his love and at the same time it gives comfort to him.. I was carried away with your cry !!!🙏👍...
I admire people who are emotionally brave. Imagine a husband singing at the funeral of his wife. I salute ur bravery. How i wish i am as stone hearted man as u.
We Filipinos convey our feelings through singing, even in the event in our times of our loved one's funeral. We are not dressed in tuxedos; just comfortable clothes will do. Besides, this is not getting views on social media because it differs from how we mourn. I really cried my heart out. It is a fact of life that we all must endure and experience. Condolence to his family.
I cried while watching him sang this lovely song to his bereaves wife.. Im seeing how brave he was to withstand the emotion filled within his chest and he sang beautifully.. But watching the lady host in tears made me double my cry... Tiwards the last part specially..
Cried like a river whenever i watch this vid. Yes, we Filipinos are so emotional that we express our feelings through songs.?..We are family oriented citizen and we love every member of our family as much as we love ourself. By the way, we filipinos doesn’t need to dress up for the wake or funeral. We wear what we want and that’s okey.
Someone uploaded, it's not the direct family for sure and maybe he thought that it's worth sharing to the world, part of the emotional Filipino culture! Happy when happy, sad when something like this happens!😁
it's customary that Family members stays in the funeral parlor for the duration of the wake over several nights to welcome and receive guests who would give their farewells to the deceased. And we ordinary Filipinos don't dress in coats or tuxedos, sometimes we put on our traditional formal wear which is the Barong only during the burial of our loved ones.
First time ive seen this video 2 weeks ago, i am freaking crying out alone, and i cant take it...kudos to this, its typical for filipinos to have a funeral having this grand with flowers..we filipinos just wear casual clothes and just being comfortable but on the last day of the wake ,we usually wear whites or black to give respect to the deceased family..
In lighter side,,, thats how or way / does the Pinoy (Filipino) makes you cry while singing.. not being happy but admirable one. Thank You,, of such appreciation...💞 🇵🇭
Hes a ship captain working away from his family and wife.. this is so heartbreaking 💔 He just poured out his emotions and expressed love to her wife.. He came home 3 days after her wife passed. 😢
My tears are galing down while I watch this video. Man sing a song to his wife inside of funeral 😢😢😢😢I really admire his being a man who will his wife so much😢😢😢this is a lesson for anyone, that's why we must love our partner if one us is in a relationship. Even if I have no wife or girlfriend but I really touched this brave and lover man
We Filipinos express our emotion thru singing..we courted girls thru singing..we sing in churches. We sing during festivities, occasions, celebrations and etc. maybe he endure singing till the end of his song because he is brave and his emotion is controlled because he is an overseas filipino worker, used to stay apart from his family. Mostly ofw are away from their family for years or so just working abroad for his family..that's why he is emotionally brave.
as posted by her daughter @sailorkatey: Hi this is my Tatay Dexter. He’s Captain of a ship so he wasn’t able to see Nanay until 3 days after she passed when we took her to her home town. The day he saw her is when he made the video. Nanay Wilma would be so proud of him ❤ thank you for showing love. We’re all trying out best with this great loss
Thank you for providing context, I feel your loss (thanks to ur dad)... Prayers for the Holy Spirit of Comfort to minister to you, your dad, and everyone who's bereft from the loss.
I am a Filipino also and I'm proud to be a filipino.one of the very brave people are pilipino.thank you both of you for sharing a Filipino video like this.
I wanted to sing for my dad on his wake but I would never pull it off cause I’d breakdown. His wife must have loved him singing to her. It was very heartfelt. He probably wanted to say that he will always love her. 😢
As a Filipino,it is normal to us to be dressed as convenient as we want at all time. Especially for a middle class or low class family. But for rich family dress code must be observed.
I closed my eyes listening this song... Its make me cry like a baby.. the song got the soul and emotional farewell from the bottom of his heart like the husband never sing a song on his entire life
Here are the lyrics. More like for breaking up but also somewhat fitting here: I can't believe what i just heard Could it be true Are you the girl I thought I knew The one who promised me her love Where did it go Does anybody ever know How do you heal a broken heart That feels like it will never beat this much again Oh no I just can't let go How do you heal a broken heart That feels like it will never love this much again Oh no Tonight I'll hold what could be right Tomorrow I'll pretend to let you go And were you ever what you seemed Or was I a fool who fell in love With his own dream And now you say you want to leave Start a new life today Those words I thought you'd never say How do you heal a broken heart That feels like it will never beat this much again Oh no I just can't let go How do you heal a broken heart That feels like it will never love this much again Oh no Tonight I'll hold what could be right Tomorrow I'll pretend to Find and put it all behind me Wake and find that I have finally found A new life In my soul And find that I know how to let you go You go How do you heal a broken heart That feels like it will never beat this much again Oh no I just can't let go How do you heal a broken heart That feels like it will never love this much again Oh no Tonight I'll hold what could be right Tomorrow I'll pretend to Wake and put it all behind me And find that I know how to let you go...
Judging from experience, I also lost my wife 15 years ago now and it is really one of the most difficult tragedy in a person's life at the same time having a young daughter and adding insult to the injury one of my brothers passed away at the same date with a difference of 8 hours only and the sad part is he was in the Philippnes and I'm here in Canada living with my family and was not able to see his wake!
Oh that is so horrible. I can’t even imagine. You had to be really strong to get through all that. And I’m sorry that you had to deal with all that. 🙏🏻♥️
This happen to me aswell and im a proud Filipino my niece sings for my grandad when it was the last the funeral and i remember back when he was alive he was so happy when he hears he's grandchild sings for him and this dude at the video i respect him his voice is beautiful he touch our hearts with his voice
When I lost my parents last May because of fire incident … it was Tragic ..I sang my mama and papa’s fave song ‘I won’t last a day without you’ during their wake but I cannot contain my emotions while singing. It consoles me to just sing and express my sadness and grief. Our family loves singing and a day before the incident it was mother’s day. My Mama sang the same song. It was a long wake and everyday there are choirs servicing and some of our parents friends and relatives also render songs.
Oh I am crying reading this comment. I am so incredibly sorry to hear of your loss. I definitely think it’s understandable to not be able to contain your emotions while singing. I certainly wouldn’t be able to. Thinking of you. I’m sure they were very proud 🙏🏻♥️
The song title is “How can you heal a broken heart” by Chris Walker..but i doubt i’ll hear Chris Walker anymore after hear this man’s voice. The sadness poured in just one song. I bet his wife heard every lyric, felt his every breath and see every tears. May her soul be in peace 🙏🙏🙏
This been in the news, i didn't had a courage to watch it full... was so heavy, couldn't control my tears😢.. couldnt comprehend the pain feeling by that man
My friends, I didn't know this video and I cried a lot here, not only because of the emotion of the video, but because I remembered my experiences too... You know, this damn life has already made me lose many, many people and I guarantee you the pain of Grief is very personal and it is different for each of the people who leave us and this pain makes your heart tear up sometimes. Time doesn't heal this pain as many think, but it makes you bear this pain more, it's a wound that never heals completely. I had a friend like a sister and her fiancé who was like a brother sang her a song at her wake too and a week later, he thought life wasn't worth it and he also decided to leave and today, whenever I hear this song, which was their favorite song, I am practically transported in sensations to their funeral. My grandmother, every birthday of her grandson who died after being run over at the age of 10, would go to the cemetery with a cake and sing happy birthday to him. A lot of people criticized her for this, I went with her a few times and once took my toy car that my brother liked. My grandmother said she knew he wasn't there anymore, but she did it for her heart... and that's the pain of Grief, it can't be explained or measured, it just lives and you need to live the grief of full way
Oh my goodness, this made me cry. I am so sorry for the losses you have had to cope with. You are right… time doesn’t heal these wounds, it only gets a little easier with time. For some people, it doesn’t get easier and they decide to willingly join them. I think just because they are gone, doesn’t mean we should stop talking to them, or singing to them ♥️
@@Killermcknight My friends, I thank you for your affection, it was really something very sad... the lyrics of the song he sang said something like this The seasons (seasons of the year) changed, Nothing changed. But I know that something happened, everything is so different. Remember when we, one day, came to believe that everything was forever, without knowing, that forever always ends But nothing will be able to change, what remains, when I think about someone, I only think about you and then we are fine. Even with so many reasons, to leave everything as it is. Without even giving up or trying, now it doesn't matter... We're going back home... I don't know if you've seen an old Shirley Temple film called Bluebird, in this film there is a scene that brings a bucolic message that whenever we remember people who have passed away, they come back to life a little... Well, let's talk about happier things... Watch this video to get to know my city, I hope you like it ua-cam.com/video/qwX6I110vso/v-deo.html

He really sang from the heart - wholeheartedly, with his soul.
May God bless this bereaved Pinoy brother and give his wife eternal rest in heaven.

This is so heartbreaking..my mom cries everytime she watches this over and over again…true love does exist❤😢
Guys you killed me. Especially when your Wifey's eyes started welling up with tears... I lost it. Beautiful tribute from Husband to Wife...
If im in that situation i would really break down and cant stand to finish that song, so heartwarming.
Me also!
When she started crying i was 😢...but thank you for reacting ❤🇵🇭
I cry my heart out seeing this wonderful man
That's endearing
I can't control my emotion
My tears flow down
We Filipinos convey our feelings through singing, even in the event in our times of our loved one's funeral.
OMG tomorrow i pretend to let u go ...every word of this song he owned it
He really did!
omg
Cried like a river whenever i watch this vid. Yes, we Filipinos are so emotional that we express our feelings through songs.?..We are family oriented citizen and we love every member of our family as much as we love ourself. By the way, we filipinos doesn’t need to dress up for the wake or funeral. We wear what we want and that’s okey.
Someone uploaded, it's not the direct family for sure and maybe he thought that it's worth sharing to the world, part of the emotional Filipino culture! Happy when happy, sad when something like this happens!😁
Teary eyes 😢😢😢 such love and passion for his loved one going on the the other side❤
it's customary that Family members stays in the funeral parlor for the duration of the wake over several nights to welcome and receive guests who would give their farewells to the deceased. And we ordinary Filipinos don't dress in coats or tuxedos, sometimes we put on our traditional formal wear which is the Barong only during the burial of our loved ones.
Thank you for that information! So is it something that typically extends to multiple days?
Yes. And normally, it takes 7 days to make sure that all family members, relatives and friends are able to come and bid farewell 😢
Oh wow!
You are correct..
Thank you so much for the emotions you've shown. God Bless you both! 🙏
Yes, it is tearing us apart with this situation but it is also a celebration of endless love and beautiful life! Thank you
In lighter side,,, thats how or way / does the Pinoy (Filipino) makes you cry while singing.. not being happy but admirable one.
Thank You,, of such appreciation...💞 🇵🇭
Hard to sing when the tears is flowing down from the eyes and remained composed and finished it.
Even if I have no wife or girlfriend but I really touched this brave and lover man
When a Filipino love a woman.. is unconditional and it will never end till the end of time❤
Are you crying arnie? No,tears drops at her cheek.shes so emotional cause that is one in a million goodbye.
Extremely heartbreaking, I Every single word of the song is emotive. I can't hold my tears.
When I watched it, I couldn't stop myself from crying. It was really a tears of joy! 😢😢😢
I’m surprised he can sing so well despite what he’s feeling. Must be he’s way of saying goodbye
Exactly… I wouldn’t be able to sing if I were sad.
This hits home, I lost the love of my life to cancer in 2010 and I still miss her every day.
as posted by her daughter @sailorkatey: Hi this is my Tatay Dexter.
You're lucky Man bcoz you have a wife so kind and so sweet ❤️❤️❤️
I am a Filipino also and I'm proud to be a filipino.one of the very brave people are pilipino.thank you both of you for sharing a Filipino video like this.
You two are the best! Hang in there Taylor…you’re an emotional inspiration!
♥️♥️♥️
As long as we are still with the ones we love in life, let's make them feel the unconditional love.
Death of loved ones with sad songs always get me. Respect brother! May your wife find eternal peace! You’ll see her again.
I wanted to sing for my dad on his wake but I would never pull it off cause I’d breakdown. His wife must have loved him singing to her. It was very heartfelt. He probably wanted to say that he will always love her. 😢
With nthis husband you can See and feel the LOVE THAT BRING FROM HER this late woman was Love and precious
As a Filipino,it is normal to us to be dressed as convenient as we want at all time. Especially for a middle class or low class family. But for rich family dress code must be observed.
I closed my eyes listening this song... Its make me cry like a baby.. the song got the soul and emotional farewell from the bottom of his heart like the husband never sing a song on his entire life
imagine how painful it is for him to sing this song. letting go of your love one knowing that you can't never see her again
I don’t know how he was able to make it through the song without breaking down.
this guy pour all his feelings in the song..bittersweet melody to hear...thanks for this...i need a good cry coz sometimes I can't cry that easy,
Grabi sa part na ito uns Kong Nakita ito sa TikTok grabi iyak ko dto subrang🙏😭😭😭😭
I cried too. I feel the pain of the husband. God bless.
We are very emotional but me too I cry when I see this video
A beautiful expression of his Grief and Love.
Here are the lyrics. More like for breaking up but also somewhat fitting here:
I can't believe what i just heard
Could it be true
Are you the girl I thought I knew
The one who promised me her love
Where did it go
Does anybody ever know
How do you heal a broken heart
That feels like it will never beat this much again
Oh no
I just can't let go
How do you heal a broken heart
That feels like it will never love this much again
Oh no
Tonight I'll hold what could be right
Tomorrow I'll pretend to let you go
And were you ever what you seemed
Or was I a fool who fell in love
With his own dream
And now you say you want to leave
Start a new life today
Those words I thought you'd never say
How do you heal a broken heart
That feels like it will never beat this much again
Oh no
I just can't let go
How do you heal a broken heart
That feels like it will never love this much again
Oh no
Tonight I'll hold what could be right
Tomorrow I'll pretend to
Find and put it all behind me
Wake and find that I have finally found
A new life
In my soul
And find that I know how to let you go
You go
How do you heal a broken heart
That feels like it will never beat this much again
Oh no
I just can't let go
How do you heal a broken heart
That feels like it will never love this much again
Oh no
Tonight I'll hold what could be right
Tomorrow I'll pretend to
Wake and put it all behind me
And find that I know how to let you go...
you can literally feel that he' s singing his whole heart out ❤️😭
Judging from experience, I also lost my wife 15 years ago now and it is really one of the most difficult tragedy in a person's life at the same time having a young daughter and adding insult to the injury one of my brothers passed away at the same date with a difference of 8 hours only and the sad part is he was in the Philippnes and I'm here in Canada living with my family and was not able to see his wake!
From what i heard he is a seafarer, a captain of the ship and he was able to came home after 3 days. Thats not a funeral but a wake wake.
So sad, three days later 😢
too much pain our heart to hear that man sang. he was brave to sing on his wife's funeral. a strong husband😭😭
This was not a show someone videoed this man outpouring no crowd shots needed This was about him and his wife at that moment.
This been in the news, i didn't had a courage to watch it full... was so heavy, couldn't control my tears😢.. couldnt comprehend the pain feeling by that man
I got caught teary eyed of this video, so sad.
Dang!! I cant finish watching this video without crying!!
Pretty hard not to!!
i watch this many times and it makes me tears each time i watch this
My friends, I didn't know this video and I cried a lot here, not only because of the emotion of the video, but because I remembered my experiences too...
I think just because they are gone, doesn’t mean we should stop talking to them, or singing to them ♥️
@@Killermcknight My friends, I thank you for your affection, it was really something very sad... the lyrics of the song he sang said something like this
The seasons (seasons of the year) changed, Nothing changed.
But I know that something happened, everything is so different.
Remember when we, one day, came to believe that everything was forever, without knowing, that forever always ends
But nothing will be able to change, what remains, when I think about someone, I only think about you and then we are fine.
Watch this video to get to know my city, I hope you like it
