Honda CRF300L Rally: Where the dirt ends and road begins, the CRF300L Rally is waiting to bring adventure bike capability to your everyday commute. The nimble design and plentiful low-end power combine with smart features for an ideal transportation solution through busy streets and bumpy trails. The bodywork is inspired by Dakar Rally racebikes, which means it looks as good as it performs. The tall windscreen provides solid protection against the elements. And the long motocross-style seat gives you all-day comfort and allows you to easily move around in the saddle. If you have a dual sport that’s even lighter and more affordable in mind, make sure you check out our honda CRF300L.
    Honda CRF300L:
Balance is the key when riding any motorcycle. And we’re not talking about just balancing on two wheels: We’re talking about the balance between size, weight, power and handling that makes some bikes great-like the new Honda CRF300L. Based on our previous CRF250L, for 2021, it gets a larger engine with more torque and a whole host of chassis and suspension refinements. What you end up with is one of the best-balanced bikes ever for on- and off-road use. Perfect for weekend trail rides, it’s also among the best choices ever for commuting or urban transportation. And if you’re looking for a version with a windscreen and Dakar-inspired bodywork for a little more weather protection, make sure you check out our new CRF300L Rally.

Seems like the rally is the perfect halfway point between a dual sport and a light adventure bike. It’s right on the edge. I love that. Really looking at getting one if I can find it.

Honda made a true winner of a motorcycle. It’s a shame they don’t build more. I love my 300L, though I do mull over if a Rally would be better. But in the end I think I made the right choice

Just got my M1 in ON, Canada. While I love clean and rumbling old cruisers/bobbers stylistically, I've been checking out dual sports more and more because I didn't want to limit my riding to just the street and I've been looking for a jack of all trades kind of bike.
While the KLX300 has been in my crosshairs for a bit, I've been looking into the Honda CRF300L + Rally options more and more. Watching this now I'm sold on getting the rally and you got me with calling it a Bard from D&D which is the first class I ever played and I loved the versatility.
Getting the Rally and making it a capable, lightweight adventure bike sounds perfect to me.
Thank you for putting your time and effort into this video, it was great and helpful.

It's funny, I was looking at the two bikes on the showroom floor just this morning, and decided that the Rally was not worth the extra $1000CAN, but now you have me thinking.
Also, I look at those trails you are riding and imagine taking my V-Strom 1000 down one, and that thought alone makes me really want an L OR a Rally. That would be pure torture on the Strom!

If I understand it correctly, one big reason why the Rally's stock tank is > the 300L + Acerbis tank is that you get that extra fuel capacity without having to concede an accurate fuel gauge reading, since the 300L gauge is calibrated for the stock tank and not the additional volume the Acerbis tank adds.

We were lucky enough to score the Asian spec 300L here in Aust with brilliant LED light gear. I'd love to know how its light compares to the rally. I just spent up on a coupla 1.5L fuel cans and Rigg can holders to hopefully offset the smaller tank of my L. Bought in Feb, loving it so far ... ❤

I’m in the same boat as you.
I think the loss in wind protection would be noticeable. The wind protection on my Rally is much better than my Tenere 700.
I am worried about bashing up the plastic on trails. I don’t really want to add heavy crash bars.

Matt I've been using my Rally a lot off road since I asked that question. I do not think it's worth t
getting the crash bars. I have dropped my Rally quite a few times and no damage at all. The plastics are cheap and if one breaks while doing a BDR or something I would just ducktape it and replace when I get back from the trip.
