Casio G-Shock GW6900 Metal Conversion of the Bezel and Bracelet

- I used a kit which I purchased through AliExpress to convert a GW6900 to a metal version, including the bezel and bracelet. Overall, this was easier to do than installing bracelets on other G-Shock watches which I've worked with so far. Even installing Casio's genuine Combi Bracelet was more difficult than this.
According to the information I was reading online, there's a slightly different bezel size for a DW6900 as opposed to this GW6900. The listing I saw when I purchased this kit said this would fit the GW6900 and I'm pleased to say that, yes, this was the right kit for this watch. (I don't actually have a DW6900 so I can't confirm the exact fit to be sure that the bezels are NOT interchangeable, but since I was ordering this from China I was sure hoping this would work for my watch.) I honestly hadn’t taken a close look at the kit before I started recording the video. I thought it would be exactly like the “King” kit which didn’t have the quick release spring bars. But, wow! It was really easy to do this.

I picked up a beaten secondhand GW-6900 this year for 40€, with the intent of modding it with this kit.
Haven’t pulled the trigger yet, this video convinced me to go ahead.
Now the only thing left to decide is which color?

I already own a GMW-B5000 in silver, and it’s a tank, very sturdy and at the same time very wearable, I really like it .
About the difference in bezels between DW and GW models:
They are not interchangeable, the placement of the buttons is different, so the cutouts in the bezel are not placed in the same position.
I've done the silver kit conversion with the dw5600bbma with the silver mirror face. No solar or mb6 but looks great

I rather liked the look of it without the bezel on it,but so far I think I'll keep mine as standard.I wonder if that metal bezel will interfere with radio reception,as Casio do say that you should keep it away from such objects for good reception................
I will report any reception problems if I have them. So far so good and my “King” G-Shock still works well after its conversion. Of course, reception is always good at my house anyway, just 350 miles from WWVB.

The left dial has markers to show the power information, including whether the battery is low, medium or high. The middle dial shows information about the alarms, signal, auto backlight and mute status. The right dial is an animated indicator which interacts with the seconds display and 10ths display in stopwatch mode. Overall, the dials take up a lot of space in the face area but, then again, they add to the charm of this particular classic G-Shock icon.

Where did you find the kit. I've been searching everywhere and everything I've seen on Ali Express or Ebay for metal bezels is for the dw-6900, not the gw-6900

What size width is the wrist band?22mm?
New SUBSCRIBER...looks really good on the conversion. Will this bracelet fit a 9 inch wrist?
I measured the links I removed and the remaining space available in the micro adjustments in the clasp. Together they provide about 1 and 7/16 inches of additional length. The watch fits my 7 and 1/2 inch wrist pretty well. So it looks like that extra 1 and 7/16 inches might just barely make it fit a 9 inch wrist. But it’ll be close.
Hey Greg, i've done the same but with the gold one. Does your light button protrude much because mine is actually under the bezel at the edges and the raised centre of the button is barely above the level of the hole? It still works and the bezel doesn't keep the button pushed in or anything but i've seen other pics of this kit where the button seems to be sticking out much further than mine.
With my watch I really don’t notice the light button’s relative position being any different compared to the way it looks on the stock version. But maybe I will take a closer look now that you mention it.

I've never owned a 6900, but are the three 'eye' indicators of any use? Or just decorative? I like the 5610 over models like GD350, which have non essential 'entertainment' on the dial .....

Thanks for the information. I didn't realise the dials were useful - I thought they were maybe novelty effects - though since this is an enduringly popular model, I reckoned I was missing something .....

The 3 dials are useless on the standard DW-6900.
The GW-6900 uses 2 of them, that’s one of the reasons I like the GW-6900 better, apart from the solar and Multiband.
Saw your conversion and ordered from AliExpress but it would not fit. I contacted AliExpress but they said they there isn’t a conversion kit for the GW6900, only for the DW6900. Can you let me know the link you ordered from please. I am left with a strapless watch that I cannot use and impossible to put the original straps back on. Hope you can help.

Did it made the buttons easier to press?
The buttons seem to stick out more, but that only means this bezel must be ever so slightly smaller on the outside compared to the original. Not a big difference with the buttons, however.

Where did you get the composite bracelet for the other GW6900?
I just started searching on eBay. Turns out that bracelets made for my GW-M5610 watches are also compatible with the GW6900 so that’s how I found them.
Is the replacement bezel actually metal or is it chrome-plated plastic?
It’s metal.
And it is heavy... A good heavy. I usually rock a stainless steel automatic, it is comparable to an skx007 w SS bracelet in weight

yes the GW6900 is slimmer than DW6900, i have both
Would it fit a g-8900?
I don’t think it would work on a G8900. As I look at parts over at PacParts.com they list some GW6900 and G6900 using the same bezels and same resin bands. So it’s a good bet that this metal kit would work on a G6900 but not a G8900.
