This was hilarious! I love how all three really broke down why the film actually sets back the LGBT cause, and with great doses of humour. 😂
one of the best-articulated episode by the guest 👍👍
Pretty sure Bobby was styled to look like the hot dreamy man in Dostana according to the time it was set in, but I didn’t think he pulled it off back then and now it’s certainly more comical how they really missed the mark
Shout out to Raja Sen who finds a mention for being so relevant 15 years later.
Raja sen was a certified meanie during those days
Please do Sridevi & Anil's Mr. India.
The humor and CGI has aged well. I think...
Trivia : Karan Johar named Dostana, after the 1980 blockbuster of the same name that was produced by his father, Yash Johar
Since there was so much discussion about homosexuality, Aligarh is a great movie to discuss.
I can forgive Kjo for not coming out in his personal life, especially since everyone already knows now, but I can’t forgive him for the professional choices. I have an older aunt who’s lesbian in a partnership and a boomer who doesn’t understand why younger queer people feel the need to make statements and call attention to their sexuality when they come out in that public way - different generations take the politics of it differently so fair enough
Dil mil gye and mile jab hum tum supremacy ❤
6:05 - It's not a YRF movie. It's a Dharma movie.
Fun fact: Dharmendra’s character does die in the movie Johnny Gaddaar.
Also Bobby as Bhagat Singh
Damn!
Great episode
Great music
Please do DARNA MANA HAI or DARNA ZAROORI HAI.. too many topics, plot points to discuss..
Bobby Deol died in Love Hostel
okay guys, its not fair to blame Karan. I am sure he would love to come out in the open but he will get butchered. His' movies will be "boycotted". He has a whole company that relies on his name. Even Kapoor and Sons no one wanted to do role. They had to get Fawad to come do it because no one else would, and after that Karan had to record a video and beg that he is not anti-national. Even Twinkle Khanna said on Koffee with Karan that I am the only women you have loved, because I had a moustache. It is very obvious to everyone that watches that show but he doesn't openly say it. Have you read Ellen's story? She has similar stories when she was young in the industry and is now open about it, and that is US where its been legal.
Not to forget the absolute vile comments regarding his sexuality in every one of his social media post... No one deserves that kind of treatment...
@@anindyarastogi1Spot on. And frankly, I’d be concerned for Karan’s and his family’s security. Does anyone trust extremist wackos not to go after his two small children and elderly mother? (Just to be clear, I’m only talking about his choosing not to publicly and explicitly come out, and not about the film, which is obviously problematic in numerous ways.)
Yes we have seen looking and yes it is a great show and movie
So the judgement of how good a gay scene is will be on the basis of the way the characters are kissing? What is that logic, man? That whole discarding of Ranveer Brar's scene from Modern Love! Not necessarily every gay couple will be fiery and passionate. A make out scene can be gentle too. A couple can be something you are not with your partner. What is the point of this extremism? This whole, "oh shut up you don't know anything, we will tell you, this is our thing". At least back up your argment better.
That's a good point. It does feel strange to judge intimacy on those parameters.
34:06 😂
Suggestion for next movie: CHACHI 420!!
CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED MOVIE in terms of pop culture. Each and every actor has KILLED IT in their roles and it's a shame that even though the movie has several top notch comedic and meme worthy moments, it still doesn't get the attention it deserves!! Do consider it, pretty please? ❤️
yes!
Great choice! I love this film.
The joke about Deol family career dying doesn't sounds so funny when now we know Sunny came back with Gadar teo and Bobby with Animal
36:46 periodddd
Please watch Joyland (2022)
One film which I think has gay undertones is Shatranj ke Khiladi, now while it was more a satire about the indifference of the upper classes and the tyranny of the British empire, it also has undertones relating to homosexuality. I know they may not see this comment but would love to hear Abbas, Navin's and Urjita's thoughts on this
That's true. And a very nuanced portrayal it was too. Easy to miss, imo
50:00 MORALITY is a very personal thing..one shudn't say to anyone..ki aap ko toh aisa nahi karna chahiye tha.
Also if abhishek n John did such action.. Then do u think the movie won't get made. No.
Somebody else wud be chosen to do it.
Nd even if they did then also it's quite certain ke people wud judge them.. Nd it affects their careers.
I mean. Aap apni comedy me xyz chize kyu karte ho ya nahi karte ho. Who am I to have any judgement on that. It's personal
I always thought why would a girl go for such a "Chomu" looking guy when the other two were better? 😅😅 Arjun Rampal would have been a better choice.
Urjita fan, love you sound effects 😂😂😂😂
I see Navin, I click, also 4.
❤
Who tf sanctioned silveries ad. Wapis mat lagana abbas
Hahahahahahah
What a waste of a film! Only listened to this episode to hear Naveen’s views.
