Helpful indeed is a discussion on something other than the outwardly obvious works of the Holy Spirit, a robust scriptural and historical understanding of the Essence and Person of the Holy Spirit should help us discern what is or what is not a true “word” from or “gift” of the Holy Spirit. Scripture is we could say, God breathed, and holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Therefore any “word” from or “gift” of the Holy Spirit can never look or sound different than what is revealed in scripture. This helps us greatly to weed through the sometimes subjective claims about the “words” from or “gifts” of the Holy Spirit.
This discussion helps us to have true knowledge of God which leads to true worship of God.
