  • The battery capacity in terms of % can only be displayed on the Multi Information Display. This video will show you how to customize the hidden setting in order to see this info.

    Thank you someone borrowed my prime and changed my HV indicator to distance. I've been going crazy trying to get back to battery percentage.

      Yeah, at least for 2022 Prime the menu is NOT the same at all, and can see no way to show battery capacity.

    What does the square around evmode mean?

    If you press HV/EV mode, it changes to Charging mode. Have you tried that?
    As per the manual it seems like one can charge the battery to 80% while driving the car in HV mode. Please comment if you tried charging the battery in HV mode by long pressing the HV/EV button.

      Yes, you can switch to Charging Mode, and it works pretty well if you want to use ICE to charge your battery. It does stop at 80%, which can get you about 24+ miles or so. When I started using the car, it was rate about 30 miles for full charge, but now it is up to about 35 miles. So your 80% would vary depending on how efficient your EV driving is and your terrain.

      Cloud9Life Thanks for feedback. Can you share with given approx speed how long it takes to change the 80% of the battery based on your experience.

    • @cloud9life1
      @cloud9life1  7 років тому

      I have heard from people about 30 minutes or so, but it would depend on the terrain you are driving. Of course, if you are coming down a steep hill, that would be ideal time to recharge.

      I would think so but I don’t know for sure. I don’t see why they would make changes to something like this unless the entire operating system is different.

    • @cloud9life1
      @cloud9life1  6 років тому +1

      the trip indicator at 3:07 would show you how far you have driven SINCE YOU LEFT OR STARTED DRIVING

      I’ve driven this car. It’s great if your daily commute is less than 25 miles. More than that, and it doesn’t make a lot of sense to have a plug-in hybrid with only 25 miles of range.

    • @hanksnow5470

      @@RyanWilliams222 It is enough for me (got the car last week). And in addition, driving in hybrid mode (mix of gas and electricity) will give you much more distance before the battery runs out at 1.8 liters per 100 km (instead of 4.4 with gas only mode).

    • @Sos4R4y

      @@RyanWilliams222 I can see the logic in it even if the commute is more than 25 miles. That's how they come up with the ridiculous sounding 133 mpge. They fill the battery up completely, run it down, then run it on gas mode until they get home. Repeat this process every day until you run out of gas and you could have a higher number than that. My job is 22 miles from my house and I also do Doordash on the side which is near my job. The only thing I don't see sense in is the same reason I have yet to go completely electric and that is charging time. 5 and a half hours for 25 miles?? Lucky for me I can charge at work and home but geez. And it doesn't make sense to spend the extra on a level 2 charger to still take 2 and a half hours.

      @@hanksnow5470 Glad you’re liking it! To maximize your overall fuel efficiency, my understanding is that you should keep it in EV mode all the time. Yes, your battery will discharge faster, but doing that will mean you never burned gas when you didn’t have to. 👍🏼

    • @RyanWilliams222
      @RyanWilliams222 Рік тому

      @@Sos4R4y Hey! Three things:
      1) The way the 133 MPGe is calculated is simply the fuel efficiency when it’s running on electricity alone. One gallon of gas contains 33.7 kWh of energy, which is how they can describe electricity usage in gallons-of-gas equivalents. If you burn any gas, that 133 MPGe figure is going to go down toward the gas-only figure, which is something like 55 MPG.
      2) Five and a half hours to charge 25 miles of electric range is a long time, but it’s okay with a plug-in hybrid because you always have gas as a backup. I drive a full EV (the Chevy Bolt), and when I only had Level 1 charging (a regular 110V outlet like the Prius Prime uses) at home, it was so incredibly slow and painful. Because if I run out of electricity, unlike the Prime, my car stops moving. Switching to Level 2 charging (a 220V outlet) was an absolute must, and is actually not painful at all as long as you don’t drive more than about 150 miles in a day. My daily commute is about 50 miles, sometimes I drive as much as about 100 miles, so it works great for me.
      3) I think I already said my third thing while I was discussing my second thing (oops), so here is a random animal fact: Did you know that giraffes would still be the tallest land animal even if they didn’t have their long necks? 🦒
