    Clothes hung outside to freeze dry once brought inside to dry it leaves a fresh smell that permeates the house. My mum did that for years. Oh the memories north western quebec.

    My husband and I have always wanted to live in Alaska. We had 2 kids, & life just took over. Now in our mid 50's we both have spinal disabilities. Bless your hearts, your living the dream. Love watching what could have been!!!

    Here in Florida as I listen to the ambulances screaming, kids yelling and dogs barking at 12 pm I yearn for the silence of where you are and wish. God bless you and keep you safe. Thanks for the escape

    I needed a good laugh here in Oklahoma today. Thanks! When you took those clothes off the line, that was beautiful man. I wish I were there and knew how to live as you do. YOU are sooooo blessed. The Lord be with you, Brother.

    Doesn't your dog have a coat in that cold weather? Love all the animals.

    @nitroexpress700 The thing is i'm not as experienced as you. If i build a cabin alone with a bit of gear, i'd die in the woods. Paul Hemann sent me a message telling me how hes a film maker and has a bit of income from that, if i can remember correctly he'll be having a show airing in may.

    Ah yes,
    VB boots (vapor barrier). What would life in Alaska be without them? Very cold. I used them for two winters near Fairbanks.

      Italian Stallion , So whats keeping u from going BACK?? Jan/I spent 27 years in bush N of Trapper Creek. Had to go outside to care for aging mother but shes dead now & were going back this May. Were 70.years old & bought a new place even furthur north. More bears & bush. Plan on dying out there & surprisingly enough its JAN whos pushing thd hardest. I got fat/lazy living in town but a few months swinging a maul for the woodstove will cure that. Go back bro! Lower 48 is fucked anyway. Demanazies ruined it. Better to die standing as a free man than living on your knees as a slave.

    This is fantasy land. I have a roadless cabin in the Alaska back country 80 miles west of Anchorage. Paul is not showing the everday stuff. Just the fluff. Were is the outhouse, chainsaw, snow machine, airplane, woodpile, lake overflow. That snow shovel would last about 5 minutes at most cabins. I'm not saying the video is not pretty, it's just not reality

      I think a lot of people have a little understanding of the Harsh reality that is Alaska. I would love to be living up there right now. However at this time I can not be. With luck in a few years. For now I watch videos like Paul's to see how it looks at different times of the year. Now before someone starts yelling don't go you will not be able to make it. I know I can. Why? Because I have already done it in Canada a number of years back and as a young adult in the mountains of New England. We would take summer long camping trips with nothing more than a pack with ammo, axes, skillets and pans, and a few tarps to use as shelters. Paul, thank you for your videos. Hey Gary I would love to see video of your cabin. The good and the bad. Please? Have a great day and a happy new year.

      Also the reality is
      many bush towns are cesspools of
      filth, domestic violence, inbreeding, and no running water. Not in Canada and Greenland, they live clean and with pride!

    Located Near Talkeetna AK on Front lake I think it is. Not exactly what I would consider bush life as it's only about 10 miles out, but good video anyhow. I looked at buying that place a few years back when it was for sale but I about died when I saw the price

    Paul what is the best way to get started in this lifestyle?

    • @davejan744
      @davejan744 5 років тому

      Donald Scearce , Easy answer, go insane from life in the big citys! Jan/I went bush 32 years ago. Lot of hard knocks in the beginning but you learn/adapt. Make a native or bushman friend & theyll teach you all you need to know IF they think your tough enough. Pansys need not try. You wont survive. Alaska has a million ways to kill you. From Bears/moose to God damned wolves to mosquitos to sudden weather changes to falling through frozen lakes to widowmaker trees. ECT. OLD saying among bushmen. "You only get 1 mistake in the bush because its the last one you will ever make." Be prepared for everything & never let your guard down. ALWAYS carry a gun & be fully aware of your surroundings. Its NOT a life for pusseys or crybabys.
