Hi Nina. Here is another Aussie singer named Gyan. She composed and sang this back in 1989. It is titled ‘Wait’ and is exceptionally good. Despite her beautiful and powerful voice this was her only song that was a hit. Here she is live in 1990 on Australian tv, the Midday Show, hosted by Ray Martin. Unfortunately it is missing the first verse. However I have put the recorded version below it. I also put an acoustic version which she sang on Australian tv programme the Morning Show, in 2016. To be honest, not a big fan of this version. Enjoy!☺️ m.ua-cam.com/video/dsYANbiIJCA/v-deo.html&pp=ygUKI2d5YW5zdG9yaQ%3D%3D m.ua-cam.com/video/i-XEQsmEFIY/v-deo.html m.ua-cam.com/video/ZKwh7Ou35JU/v-deo.html
Hi Nina. I've just been watching this again. Phenomenal - it is❤ I really can't recommend enough John and his whole band singing Loves In Need (Stevie Wonder) cover and it's entirely Acapella. It is so moving and magic. Here is the link. There's a bit of Johns humour first 😊 ua-cam.com/video/9m8-dc6FlCI/v-deo.htmlsi=VAKG1fJpdZx5YDVc
One of the MANY things I love about John is his ability to attract such amazing talent around him. I know he goes to great lengths to build such a family style culture and it shows in the love and respect they have for each other on stage. It's great to see 'Nana' and Lindsey take center stage and show just how they are amazing talents in their own rite here, and of course Lisa, and some of the other amazing vocalists John has worked with.
What i love about this song is the way Venetta looks at John while he is singing. It sums up everything about what makes this rendition so good and so, so special and that vibe is writ large in the fantastic singing of all three
This performance always brings tears to my eyes. Venetta was one of John's backing vocalists for years. Before coming to Australia in 1980, she did backing vocals for rock/blues legend Boz Scaggs 😊
Saw this performed in Brisbane I think back in 1987. Truly astounding and never missed a Farnham concert in Brisbane from then on. The sheer vocal talent of John, Venetta and Lindsay and later Lisa Edwards and the band had people coming back for more again and again. Up there with the best you will ever see and I've seen many.
Miss Venetta is very loved and I love the way she looks at John with love when he sings. She sang for some of America’s greatest, was in Barbra Striesands A Star is Born. She could have been a star in her own right and I would love to know how she ended up with John because they were together for years but so were Lisa and Lyndsey. All are wonderful. Everyone on that stage seems to radiate love and Glenn, John’s manager and best friend had a lot to do choosing them. He knew what John needed and they both got it right. We lost Glenn to Covid but his widow Gaynor is still managing John and taking care of him. Everyone around John became Australia’s family. John taught me that backup singers and musicians have names and he never failed to introduce them or thank them. I know I will never see them all together again but I have years of memories. Venetta lives about 4 hours South of me where she gives voice lessons. I often think of finding her just to say thank you. Thank you too.
I heard an interview with Venetta, where she said she was taken to a bbq at johns place, i think by Glenn, where he asked her to back him in one song. She got back to him later to say she couldn't as her band was breaking up. He offered her a permanent job. He offeref her highlights and recognition. When she accepted, he asked her to find him another singer. She already knew Lindsay, so she brought him along. I am not to sure how much later lisa came along.
Just look how far John is standing away from the mic lol. Just beautiful... Vocally giving their all and their faith shows on their faces. Love, love, love it.
John has just turned 74. Last year he underwent an 11 hour surgery to remove cancer from his jaw. He’s apparently doing well but I don’t think we’ll ever hear him sing again. John has given us 50 plus years of pure magic.
So much love for each other, John is always happy to let his backing band and vocalists take centre stage. He knows that together, they bring out the best in each other.
OMG Ive been SO waiting for you to discover this.. Ms Fields has sung on almost every famous album in ther last 40 years.. Recorded and toured with Joe Cocker, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Rolling Stones "Exile on Main Street/Sympathy For The Devil", Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here", and she was an "Ikette" With "Ike and Tina Turner".. Also Gospel Singer of the Year award winner. And I met her backstage years ago, and she is the brighest, lovliest soul you could possibly imagine, she just shines.. Gives me CHILLS/Frisson, which only certain people get from music stimuli.. I always get it, at the same point in the song haha.. 4:40 (just after Lindsay walks up)
This is my favorite version of this classic gospel song. Notice how far John is standing away and much taller than the mic and John’s voice just resonates and powers through. Amazing vocals all round. John’s breath control and vocals are simply epic.
Great Show. John is such a Gracious Performer. He constantly refuses to take the Limelight. He Lifts his Fellow Performers. He is Truly a Jewel for Us. The Audience. God bless you all.
Thanks for reacting to this. Has to be the greatest ever cover of amazing grace, always gives me goosebumps listening to this. You should check out Stan Walker singing a cover of “amazing grace” live with the Levites another phenomenal cover
That's Vanetta Fields and Lindsay Field. Both are Johns backing vocals. Vanetta is American, but has been with John or many years..... Yep, we we all pretty much grabbing for tissues after this, yeah I was there . Love seeing you react to John xx
@@devilsadvocate2548 Yeah I know. She lives in Bendigo. Im typing on a stupid mouse, so cut it as short as possible. Thanks a heap for trying to share info m8. Have a great night 😃
I didn't know she had moved to Bendigo from the Gold Coast. Ostensibly to be with the DeAraugo family I would think as she used to coach Kate and became part of their family. Nice to hear....

This version of Amazing Grace is my favourite....Venetta Fields is stunning, her voice is flawless...the harmonies with these 3 artists together....outstanding, beautiful and a perfect lesson in singing......incredible! Thank you John Farnham, Venetta Fields & Lindsay Field.
I had trouble for years listening to amazing grace because it has very sad origins for me. I only heard this version last year and very nearly turned it off already in tears. I watched and bawled my eyes out but the way they all sing together is uplifting and puts me in a different mood. Whenever I hear this version now I still shed a tear but I'm smiling😊

And I met Ms Fields backstage once years ago, and she is the brighest, lovliest soul you could possibly imagine. She just shines in real life, just like she does here.. So I hope that helps...
Most of John's songs are bathed in bucket loads of emotion - shedding tears is often a normal happening when listening to and watching JF and his singers and band. Ooh, all that talent in every track.... Wowser.. 4.1.24. UK. E ❤
John always took time to champion his band and singers and give them their moment in the spotlight. Vanetta had an amazing career before joining Farnham.... she was in the Ikettes and worked with Ike and Tina on their TV program.... also worked with Quincy Jones, Steely Dan, Joe Cocker, Neil Diamond, Leonard Cohen, Bob Seger, Burt Bacharach and many more.
I think I saw Vanetta as backing singer for Shirl, in his Skyhooks warm up song (in front of two young ladies) I'm Living in the 70's video. @@markjames3522
Don't be concerned about masking the video. Many reactors have to do it and it encourages viewers to check out the artist's original. This performance really showcases the superb singers that supported John for so many years. All highly talented vocalists themselves. I love their version, but my all time favourite rendition is a 13 year old girl from my high school who performed it at a school event. She was an amazingly pure soprano and gave her heart and soul to the song. In over 50 years I've not heard anything to match it.
What a great performance. I’m an Aussie and absolutely love John & in this performance, the harmonies were fabulous. Nina, I’ve asked on numerous occasions for your reaction to Amira Willighagen, , but alas, to no avail. I see you’ve reacted to Angelina, Dimash, Marcelito and others, but you’re missing out on a once in a lifetime talent. I’ll again list a performance when Amira was 10 & then hopefully you’ll follow up to her present age of 19. The performance is: Amira Willighagen singing O Mio Babbino Caro with the world renown conductor/musician Andre Rieu to over 10,000 people who stood as one to give her a standing ovation. Cheers Graeme.
Wow This was heavy! Thanks for sharing I'm learning lots from all of your reviews, I do weddings, grads, funerals etc . This was so very well executed , gosh as I said a HEAVY piece. Thank you..
I'm a great fan of Vanetta Fields. Truely an amazing singer. The way that she carries herself on stage and everything I've seen of her is beautiful. Not only an Ikette, a part of John Farnhams regular band, but also a singer for Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes. She is truely respected and that is rightly so.
I've always loved Venetta, particularly when she was singing backup for John Farnham. Her career links her to some of the greats. She has worked with Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Neil Diamond, Humble Pie, and Boz Scaggs. She was a backup singer on Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here", and on the Rollings Stones "Exile on Main Street: album. She also acted on the Kris Kristoffersen / Barbra Streisand "A Start is Born" as one of the Oreos. An amazing voice and an amazing lady.
Vanetta is a vocal teacher/coach, David Herschfelder (piano etc,) is an accomplished composer, arranger. Lindsay a guitarist as well, John didn't take voice lessons at the start, bu had natural talent and learned a lot along the way, though his early stuff is so darn good anyway. So with such a wealth of impeccable talent, this just had to be awesome.
Ms Fields is a bit more than a vocal teacher.. Long time backing singers being given their moment. John does this with his instrumental musicians as well … having the spotlight. He truly respects and admires the musicianship of his fellow band members.
Another beautiful reaction and great analysis once again Nina. You might have guessed that this performance was from the same concert that your analysis vid of ‘You’re The Voice’ and ‘Help’, the Beatles cover, derived. ❤👌
Those were both from the concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (1989), whereas this one is from the Whispering Jack concert in 1987, this was his first tour after the success of Whispering Jack, so decent sized venues, but he wasn't successful enough yet to tour with the MSO at this point :)
The woman singer is Vanetta Fields. She used to singer with Ike and Tina Turner. She has also sung with Jimmy Barnes on his Live from the Basement in 2000. You should give it a listen. Get ready to dance when you do.
Inspiring rendition of AG but what else would you expect from John and friends! My favourite version is still the LeAnn Rimes a cappella performance though.
I cant remember the Beatles version sometimes. John Lennon said this is the way it should he done. John F sang it for the Queen & Prince Phillip for the first time at Sydney Opera House in 1972. Tina Turner recorded John F's version. ❤
Dear Nina, I so enjoy your reactions , I wish I could support you more, but being a carer ,that's not really possible. Anyway as an Aussie, I so proud of John and his legacy, but I would urge you ,if your serious about a better version of Amazing Grace, to check out Stan Walker's version. He won Australian Idol , but has subsequently reverted to his gospel roots. I'm not religious but I can feel the spirituality of his performance, tears often streaking down my face. Can't imagine what a religious person must feel.
Mutual respect? Sure but more importantly that’s three people that genuinely love each other and each others company. Lindsay and Vanetta were with John for decades.
I'm Australian so have always loved John & his amazing voice - THIS song truly highlights just how brilliant Vanetta is & I think her vocals in this are lost a bit to the listener because "it's John Farnham." This song, as good as John & Lindsay are was OWNED by Vanetta.
Little known fact that Venetta was one of the original "Ikettes", the backup singers for Ike and Tina Turner. She has also performed with Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger, the Rolling Stones, Bette Midler, Joe Cocker and Bob Dylan. She toured Australia with Boz in 1980 and relocated here in 1982. As well as Farnsey she has also performed with Barnsey of Cold Chisel. She's now a vocal coach. Was that Brian May on keyboards?
I haven't seen a better version of this song. I'll be looking at the comments to see and check out anything that is potentially better. That would have to be Amazing.
So I love the harmonies, I love the arrangement, I love the ensemble work and expertise. However the musical line gets chopped by their breathing (or at least puttinga break) between each bar - from the moment John starts singing that break between every bar is so noticeable. It spoils it a bit for me.
Not to say farnsys rendition of amazing grace wasn't amazing as always but Stan walkers ft the levites take on amazing grace will really hit u in a different way.
Get over yourself. Sometimes videos get blocked, and one way around that is to cover up the content that UA-cam has decided is copyrighted, which is what Nina has done here (as she clearly states in the pinned comment).
A vocal coach will always stop to explain musicality of the piece. If you don’t want to listen it, scroll on by and go watch another reaction to it. Why resort to personal attacks? 🤷♀️
Interesting reaction I didn’t hear any criticism from Nina just explanation and appreciation. Perhaps Nina is the wrong type of channel for you. It’s interesting your only happy if people agree with your views. The world is a beautiful richer place because we all have our own opinions I love John and I love Nina’s analysis of his talent I always learn something new

I loved that John didn't feel he had to be the focal point, he let Venetta shine in the duet and trio.
He's like that. Just another reason to love him.
It does'nt need a fancy arrangement...just 3 amazing voices and 1 amazing song 🔥🔥

Venetta has a beautiful strong voice. John and Lindsay are backups I feel.
His backing singers 🙂 I believe to that venetta also is a vocal coach as I’ve seen a few people comment on videos saying she was their coach
If you watch the concert version of Boz Skaggs singing "What Can I Say?", Vanetta Fields is the middle back up singer.
My favourite version is by Pentatonix, although I do love this one too.
I haven't seen a better version of this song. I'll be looking at the comments to see and check out anything that is potentially better. That would have to be Amazing.
Vanetta probably helped him with his gospel style. Great moving parts
Those two have been his backing singers for years
Vannetta Fields. And Lindsay Field.
another duet of johns "angels" or harmony "love letters"
They sound like a choir.
So I love the harmonies, I love the arrangement, I love the ensemble work and expertise. However the musical line gets chopped by their breathing (or at least puttinga break) between each bar - from the moment John starts singing that break between every bar is so noticeable. It spoils it a bit for me.
👍
This version is amazing but I also love the a cappella version done by Pentatonix.
Not to say farnsys rendition of amazing grace wasn't amazing as always but Stan walkers ft the levites take on amazing grace will really hit u in a different way.
If you like this song… check out John singing Stevie Wonder's… Love's in Need
Age of Reason. 1989.
Acapella merkt man,wer es richtig drauf hat.
Hello can you please react to Demi lovato's new Revamped album
eff pff your title so we can see them
Get over yourself. Sometimes videos get blocked, and one way around that is to cover up the content that UA-cam has decided is copyrighted, which is what Nina has done here (as she clearly states in the pinned comment).
React don't judge more talent there than you will ever have
Wow dude why do you bother watching Nina if all you do is criticize 😮 Unsubscribe ....you'll be much happier I'm sure.
