Yes! Same here! And then on Saturday nights I remember the Gillette theme song for boxing. That was just after I went to bed, but I could still hear the TV. (10:00, and I was about 11).
My bed 🛌 🛏 time was 7:30 except exciting things on Ed Sullivan. The music 🎶 for Perry Mason and their Actor's make up was my scary monster 👻 👽 😳. I was certain Mr Burger 🍔 was going to grab my ankle while I was sleeping. Daddy went and got 🎧 headphones to let me go to sleep in my bed and not on his lap. Mother watched while doing hand work like sewing or reading 📚. They tried being a TV 📺 designed family. It didn't work long.
One of the best tv intros ever. A haunting theme, but excellent. Ironside was great, but, Raymond Burr will always be Perry Mason. The best lawyer in television history.
When I was a kid, watched late night Twilight Zone reruns with my dad. This always came on after. I stayed up just long enough to hear this theme song before falling asleep once the show began. Lol Miss you, dad!
@@michaelangelomiller4467 same here. I always thought the music sounded like a train leaving the station. Imagine my disappointment to discover Perry Mason was a lawyer.
Maria Torres Yes Maria, it’s funny how things from your childhood mean so much to you when you hear a song or a line in a movie that trigger your memory. And as a baby boomer, there are plenty!
LARRY JENSEN yeah, one of those classic black and white screen whodunnit series. If you were wanted to watch a drama series involving Attorneys at Law, Perry Mason was one of the best options. Those didn't have the Blood and Gore the ones TV has today, but the Suspense was creepy enough without the violence. Heck,my grandmother used to watch it on her old TV set. At least , until the old basic cable shut down, and everyone needed a special box to support the extra channels.
Reruns of Perry mason would come on at 1030 pm every night when I was a kid, so I knew that when I heard this theme playing on the living room TV, that it was time to go to sleep and not make any noise, or else get my ass whooped by my dad.😂😂. He got up at 5am every morning for work at the Copper Mine, so I didn't want to mess with the man's sleep!
My memories of Perry Mason are him badgering witnesses on the stand - “ And isn’t it true that on the night of the murder, you were, in fact, in the home of the victim? And isn’t it true that, despite your previous testimony, you had brought the murder weapon into the home of the deceased?” A few more hard, accusatory questions like that and the person would have a sudden, dramatic meltdown and admit everything, and Perry would smile smugly. "No further questions, your honor."
I love how he smirks to himself when the judge hands him the folder and he reads it. You also have to laugh at how he gives the folder to Della and she seems to be aware of what it means without even opening it. Then he hands it to Burger and Tragg and they also seem to know what it means without opening it! (and they put on the frowny faces as if to say, "Mason's got us again")
I can't figure out why Perry Mason keeps bringing the folder to everybody and their brother in this sequence. Nobody even opens the folder but Perry. Hell, Paul Drake just stares at him as if to say, "What are you giving me this for?"
I'm a paralegal. I have this theme on my phone as a ringtone. The lawyer I work for heard it and put it on HIS phone. Another lawyer heard that, and put it on HIS phone!
My Dad, who died in 1972, used to love watching Perry Mason. As a teenager I used to like watching it with him because he enjoyed it so much. My Mum loved Della Street (Perry's brilliant secretary) because she usually had on a little white collar of some kind. (She said it must be very American thing - this little dash of white at the neck... hahaha.) We were in England.
This theme has been stuck in my head for like 15 years and I never knew what it was from. Just remembered it was from a black and white show. Brought it up the other day with my mom and she said it was Perry Mason. Now I can finally sleep easy.
When I hear this, I’m six years old, lying next to my mother, in the TV room of our old home, waiting for Perry Mason. She loved any kind of detective show. Saturday night was for late night TV.

I need to watch an episode or two of this show one day. I hear the theme often because my dad watches this show so I've fallen in love with the theme. But the show looks interesting.
@rayner mooney I started watching it last year and it's a truly fantastic series. The mysteries are fantastic but it's really the cast and the chemistry between them that makes the show stand out from other crime shows. The movies of the 80s and 90s are even better than the show imo
What is it about Perry Mason? Lol something about it is so addictive and enjoyable to watch that translates ALL OVER the world with people in other countries being so addicted to it. Oh, yeah, it's Raymond Burr, Barbara Hale, William Hopper, William Talman and Ray Collins along with well crafted mysteries and a badass timeless theme song.

" - cracks me up Every Time! - have the ad on my phone - anytime I need a good laugh - the lady screams ,then there 's Little Anthony Fremont - laying down the Law!! - Hysterical!!Love it - Go Anthony Go !! - sorry you were so scared that Dad had to calm you down it's OK little girl it's just a song I would have said - helped you to understand - nobody helped me to understand - used to hear it in my nightmares !! childrens imagination - I would always try rationalizing - a TV theme is all it is - still I hated it - to hear it now -😄😂😆😂😅😂😂hysterically funny- MeTV ad Rocks - they all do!, take care👂💨🕊🌷🌻🌼✌
J Mason What in the world did I just read?
My mom's theme song. Thats how I know its her calling.
I'd want him to defend me in a case.. know I'd get off..
Those papers that the judge handed over were obviously very meaningful, based on everyone’s reactions.
because of my age, i had seen/watched ironside first. imagine my shock when perry mason went into reruns.... HE CAN WALK AGAIN!! lol
Perry Mason began at 8 pm fridays in sydney when i was 7 years old. I remember this theme, which meant time to go to bed!
I've been looking for "new" entertainment from the oldest shows I can remember.
Fabulous show!
R.I.P. BARBARA HALE A/K/A DELLA STREET
And William Hopper, and Ray Collins (Lt Tragg), and Raymond Burr.
I watch perry Mason with my grandma and every time I hear this theme song. It gets stuck in my head
"Hello Perry, I've got news for you."
Played on repeat in Hamilton Berger’s worst nightmares.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Weekday early afternoon on WGN Chicago when school was out. ❤
Who can we get on the case? We need PERRY MASON!
Brilliant theme Tune, know you will be enthralled
I always thought Henri Mancini wrote this. I started watching this on Me-TV recently...missed it growing up 1957-66.
The show has some objectively great writing.
I loved this theme as a kid
I used to here this every single morning when my mom turned on the television 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
