i'm with you man, it's one of my favs......i think people miss the very crucial detail at the start........and also some folks i know, say they completly forgot about the 'sepia' backstory part of the movie......... solid film, JK Simmons, Brad, Julia, James. truly fantastic
I caught this film on HBO or Encore - one of those movie channels, many years ago. I really, really liked it. Had a similar vibe to like a Coen Brothers or Quentin Tarantino film. When I looked it up online, I was shocked how many people didn't like it. I've always defended it.
This is the most entertaining movie I have ever watched. It brings tears and joy at the same time. Has a special type of vibe that no other movie can recreate for me...
I went to see The Mexican at the cinema with my grandfather who died in June 2020. The Mexican is not a bad movie. It is a classic. It is a really good movie. The movie had a good story. Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts had good chemistry. The late James Gandolfini should had been given a Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Leroy aka Winston Baldry. The film's soundtrack is amazing. The movie was like a modern day western. The critics are wrong about this movie. It's a fun and entertaining 2 hour movie.
This movie used to come on HBO all the time back when i was in high school. I must have watched this movie a dozen times. I love it!! I agree with OP's opinion on the movie. A hidden gem.
I actually LOVE this film. At times I suspect it's actually smarter than the actual critics. It's got alot of clever charm tucked away in it's dialogue if anyone cares to look for it.
I remember I caught the 3rd act on TV on day, probably around 2003-2004. My mom saw it and just told me the movie dragged and was not interesting... 20 years later, I'm watching Julia Roberts film I have not seen yet and finaly saw it... What are the critics thinking? I'm a huge Sean Black fan and I felt it was on the same vibe of "Kiss kiss, bang bang" or "The Nice Guys", I love these kind of films.
This movie is amazing, I just watched it and I saw the reviews were bad and I wanted to see if anyone has talked about it and I found this. It is a damn good movie and I’ll remember it for the rest of my life. And thumbs up for just about everything you said in this video 👍👍
I actually only seen this movie twice and never understood why I never heard of it. After that it was never a thing nobody's ever brought it up in conversation. Nothing like that. I think this movie's great. I think the story and the legend that gets told through this story is phenomenal and it makes me consider more and it's different in comparison to most films that came out at that time and currently it was fun but charming
Have always loved this movie. We own it on DVD. It's got great heart, it's funny and the sepia backstory is very well done. The critics are in an echo-chamber. The only movies they like are the weird artsy ones. Not the ones that the PEOPLE actually like.
Everything about this movie is excellent. I love the characters, the story, and the cinematography! Every character is interesting, even down to the dog. I watched it again recently, and realized that whoever made bullet train stole a lot from this movie.
I saw this movie before I binged the Sopranos and I have to say that Gandolfini was so good in this movie that I could never take Tony Soprano as seriously as I should have. He's a ganster in both, but the caracters couldn't be more different...in a really good and funny way! I had to grow into Brad Pitt as an actor over the years...I originally just assumed he was a pretty boy who couldn't really act but got parts because he was so damn good looking. But this movie (along with Snatch and 12 Monkeys to name a few) helped me overcome my assumptions about Pitt and I now think he's one of the best actors Hollywood has produced in the modern era. Like you, I thought the back story behind what was happening in the film was really incredible and gave the movie a depth it might not otherwise have had...and I loved the cameo at the end by another incredible actor (I will save the surprise for anyone who hasn't seen it). I guess one of the best things I can say about this movie is I still quote it 20 years later...."I'm just doing my porttion, Jerry!" and "EL CAMINO" are two of my go-to's!
Great film, does not take itself too seriously.. unlike the average film critic. Thank you for posting so many interesting videos eg. Killing TS , No Country FOM. I often rewatch films after 1 year or so, It helps if the director is good. Villeneuve has made so many incredible films and I'm astounded he elected to remake Bladerunner and Dune.
Love this film found it in my teens and watched it again yesturday such a great film and your right it is underated same as lone ranger really enjoyed that film and was a bomb at the box office aswell.
I liked this movie so much that I actually own a copy of it on DVD. I thought that I was the only one on the planet who appreciated this movie.
I love it. I nostalgically think of this movie as one of the last I watched when doing my studies, and it is so great :)
I think it should be remake with bunch of new characters and more adventures.

I saw this once almost a decade ago on cable and all I remember is a dog that jumps in the back of the truck and Pitt is constantly like out
Saw this at the cinema. Never to return. The line, "do you like sex and travel?", stuck with me to this day.

This is an unbelievably funny gem… love everything about it…showcases’ Brad’s character acting abilities…. It’s hysterical…great script
My mom took me to see this in theaters when I was 11. I had no idea what was going on, but I came to appreciate the movie on later viewings.
i’m surprised no other reviews i’ve seen are that positive at all. this movie was really cool.

I saw this movie, no thanks to critics, I thought it was a good movie
I own a copy on DVD too. It's in my top five favorite comedies. If you haven't seen it then take the time and watch it.

Yes so true, I really like that movie. It’s so exiting, funny and entertaining!

i just finished watching it. and have to agree, it's a very entertaining movie, the critics can suck it !!!
The biggest drawback from this movies is that they had James Gandolfini and JK Simmons, but not a scene with them both in it
The pistol mythology was pretty cool.

I think you’d love Burn after Reading…

*See's James Gandolfini* fuck I gotta watch it no matter what now
Great channel! I always loved this movie. Among my favourites. Excelent choice. It is true that they didnt give it credit.
I loved this film… This and Once Upon A Time In Mexico are very different but great films that I dont think get a high enough score.
Good movie. Fuck the critics
It's very good. Very re-watchable.
Watched it again after many years. Still makes me laugh. James Gandolfini was a surprise as the gay hit man.
there once was a old pistola maker who had a daughter
A star studded adventure comedy! What a romp! What could go wrong?
im just doing my Portions Jerry
Love this film found it in my teens and watched it again yesturday such a great film and your right it is underated same as lone ranger really enjoyed that film and was a bomb at the box office aswell.
I will check this out. Being the some of my favorites films are twister and water world I guess I have bad taste.
Love the commentary...😂
Absolutely. A charming, entertaining movie.
I loved this movie
it`s friggin hilarious ! very good film !
Mmmm this is all I am in America
James Gandolfini is the best thing and only good thing about this film.

I am sending you my bill October 14 2021 116 years old
Mmmmm lol
Wow a movie that takes place in "Mexico" and the "Mexicans" in it don't even know how to speak Spanish, full of American stereotypes of Mexico.
its a bad movie.
This film was vastly boring. The best part were Julia Roberts and the guy from Sopranos.
