Good video. Not knocking anything here, but I think a misconception with Anthias is that yes multiple feedings a day are ideal...with that said plenty of owners do get by with one feeding aday. I think that the abundance of copepods or arthropods...whatever they prefer is a good additional food source. I mean think about...if we all feed our tank 3 times a day our nitrates would be thru the roof generally speaking. Especially sunburst...they do fine with one feeding a day a less active anthia.
Yea some species get away with less for sure. I think that comes down to otherwise excellent care though, so I recommend multiple smaller feedings if possible. Just enough for the anthias to eat.
Just subscribed, good info here. I am a freshwater keeper of 35 years keeping and breeding several rare and difficult to keep species, but only just converting my 180 to saltwater. I'd love a group of squarespot anthias, about 7. I'm told they're one of the easiest anthias to keep but is 'easy anthias' likely to translate as beyond my ability to keep? An automatic feeder isn't too big of a challenge for me but I'd also like to keep tangs, dwarf angels, a harlequin tusk and a cuban hog, is there anything I should be watching out for?
I look forward to housing Anthias someday, but I don't have a substantial copepod population, I don't have an automatic feeder and I feed about once per day of frozen foods; mysis/brine. So, I have to wait. 🤨
Automatic feeders are pretty simple and you can get them pretty cheap. You can also start with species like the Bartlets that are a bit more resilient.
Really informative video for reef enthusiasts, thanks for sharing 👍

Anthias also tend to jump but if you can provide ample food and good quality water you should be well on your way.
Great info once again :-)

What kind did you get?
Excellent presentation ..i have 3 females, 1 male and i have covers ;)
Covers are a must! And covers with suitably small openings.

Why does it sound like you’re reading from a book
Because I used to try to memorize two pages of content for each video 😆. It didn't work out as well as I had hoped. Sorry!
