This is the first exclusif I've tried from their original line in '07 and l was hooked immediately. It's interesting that this perfume smells different batch to batch. Apparently they had trouble sourcing the vetiver. They used the very best Haitian vetiver. It turned me on to vetiver! The first batch l tried, the original, it was incredibly elegant. Total stealth wealth. I felt calm, composed, elegant and competent.
I never tried the EDT because until Paris-Edimbourg I have never been a green scent person. Well, I just got some mini bottles of Sycomore EDP and it is fantastic. Dry, earthy, sandy as you described the previous type does not appeal to me personally. I am really loving this one from the start and now as I am watching this, I am about 4 hours in since applying, and it is still gorgeous. It does remind me a bit of Paris-Edimbourg and I think that would layer well over this version of Sycomore if one were so inclined. What do you think? Another unexpected love. I also got a pre-owned 1957 today after experimenting with it from decants and samples. I got a great price! So happy! I must try Boy yet. That can wait a bit.
The IFRA and the EU has put so many restrictions on certain raw materials, I am sure it's affected Sycomore. It's not entirely Chanel's fault, in my opinion! Still love and wear the new EDP very often! Thank you for this comparisons, I might try the parfum if I get a chance.
What a great description ! I have one of the first batches of Sycomore - My all time favorites too. It is the 200ml bottle. First of the bat, it comes off a little bit "dirty". I wouldn't want to say "pissy" but there is something really amazing. It smells as if someone dripped vetiver in something magical. So hard to describe. Real magic and poetry. Please correct me if I'm wrong Dear Dacob. 🤩❣
There is now also a sycomore body oil . At least on the European website ! Love sycomore!! Hoping they will also release a bois des iles body oil .. OMG
hi Super Dacob, did you have a chance to try the newly released Sycomore body oil? I would love to see your thoughts on layering Sycomore EDT/EDP/Parfum with the body oil.
love your in depth video! I have multiple bottles of Sycomore EDP and parfums as backup because I fear discontinuation/reformulation. I have a question. Since you mentioned you bought the first batch of Boy which is 0401, do you think Sycomore EDT batch 0401 is from 2016 or 2008 (it wouldn't make sense to me for Chanel to make the discontinued EDTs the same batch as the new EDPs in 2016)? I have an opportunity to buy a 0401 Sycomore EDT but I am only willing to pay the insane price for a really old 2008 release
Thank you and each Chanel batch code repeats every eight to nine years so yes, you will see Les Exclsuifs edts with same batch codes as Les Exclsuifs edps but they will be made eight to nine years apart. There is an exception: in 2016, the year Boy was released (and Boy was only ever released as an edp from the get go) Chanel was switching from edts to edps and a few edts might have still been made of Sycomore before the switch was made to edp.
I have 2 almost full bottles of the original Sycamore from around 07-09. I’ll never forget the first time I smelled it. I knew it was my signature scent. I even wore it on my wedding day. The new batch I wear day to day and it’s nice, but when I’m going to a special event it’s the og sycamore hands down! 🙌🏽🔥 I think the original formula literally smells like you’re a billionaire. Why Chanel WHYYYYY!
Hi Dacob, first comment! I have Sycomore EDP (8401, Feb 2023 batch). Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to perform but the scent is just divine. Do you think it’ll get better with maceration? Loving your content as always 🙂
Even high end brands are cutting corners and going cheap on us... Ive been buying backup bottles of old formulas or the biggest current bottles just to overspray
I have an EDT w batch code 7801. Do you know if that’s an earlier or later batch? I personally love the EDP but need to do a side by side again to compare. I never noticed violet in Sycomore but going to “look for it”!!
The batch codes repeat every eight years or so it was probably a batch from around 2014 more or less. Sycomore edt was released in 2007 (limited release) and 2008 worldwide release.
It is very hard for me to choose plus everybody’s nose and chemistry is different so I would not like to recommend a perfume that you might not like in the end. 💖
I've been to my local high end department store and they have a Chanel scent bar inside. You can try there entire line that way. The scents are sprayed onto texturized ceramic tubes. You lift it up from its receptacle to smell a scent. They have specially made tables with embedded receptacles.
Every single les exclusive Chanel I’ve smelled is dreadful. And if someone was blind folded and told it wasn’t Chanel, given one to smell they would agree that they are all horrible. Who wants to stink of a retirement home.

I still have the first batches and they are indeed beyond beautiful. I wish they still made them that way.
I love the way you tell stories. It reminds me of perfume blogs I used to read when I got into my perfume journey.
Thank you 🥹🙏🏻🥰
I've got the sycomore EDT and I think it's amazing, much prefer it to the EDP
Me too Rich. Although the current version of the edp is getting closer to the edt again. Still different but finally lovable again for me 🥰

Of course, you can experiment with layering all of them. It can be a lot of fun 🥰

Thank you Dar 🥰

It does have that characteristic. Animalic hues bordering to indolic. 💖💫
Loved the video and the best reviews!
Thank you JLO 🙏🏻💖

Love sycomore!!

OMG
I might buy Gabrielle. I love you and your videos
Thank you Lucia 🙏🏻💖🌅
I’m shopping on the Chanel website for perfumes while listening to this video 😊❤

Original Sycomore was a masterpiece. I adore it. 💖

It always feels like we are running out of time with the good perfumes, doesn’t it?

@@essence-tiallydacob9611 ok, thank you so much!
Can you suggest me the three best Chanel perfumes to get them? There is a huge selection and I can't choose
It really depends on taste… what types of scents do you like?
My personal 3 are Bois des Iles, 31 Rue Cambon, and No 5 L’eau.
Oooh i think it will be hard for D to choose only 3 😅
It is very hard for me to choose plus everybody’s nose and chemistry is different so I would not like to recommend a perfume that you might not like in the end. 💖
Try to recommend three developments for me and I will try them and see what I like
