I've been skeptical of this for a long time until I saw your video, the fact that you really showed off the abilities of it so well plus making everyone aware of the discount has pushed me into purchasing one. I hope it will be a definite trackIR replacement for games like DCS and Star Citizen(When it is implemented as I need that gimbals tracking). Thank you so much for this video, so excited to try it.
Damn, the last comment was 3 years ago? I just came here because of an old reddit post but didn't expect to find an interesting video. Thanks for keeping this up after all these years.
+AWACS I don't know but don't think it will work :( because i think they use the 3D'ness of the eye to get the direction you're looking. sadly no googly eyes but maybe if you use a 3D model of an eye
+Tobii EyeX I'm weary of anything bombarding my eyes with high energy particles to track them... That said... i realise the sun does this all the time so forgive me if i'm being ridiculous... before i commit to anything though, can you let us know some kind of information on the safety of your product? i have the same qualms about the Oculus Rift btw so don't take it personally :D
The camera actually does center if you look to the center of the screen as long as you don't have the view angle turned up to high (I think I heard you say that you had it at max). Try turning it down below 60 degrees (the ideal max view angle seems to be around 45).
purchasing the eye x as soon as my shift ends! Stationed out here in Oki and play arma and watch your videos in my spare time. keep posting awesome videos and thanks for sharing a very cool piece of tech. Hoping this and 21:9 holds me over until VR catches up with the gaming industry!
Ace, we have been using the device for some time, some issues with games integration and Win 10 but overall this is a good device and as new driver updates come out the function should improve, you can also capture the output for other games and theoretically capture the output for use in other games, it uses vjoy, As Star Citizen supporters we are ken to see this integrated at some point, as Chris Roberts mentioned the device in a recent video, a great review, thanks, Russ
Having the EyeX control the mouse cursor in all the clickable cockpits in DCS, and keep headtracking with Track-IR, sounds bloody fantastic. Just manipulate every dial, button and switch with a glance of the eyes. No need for ever taking your hands off the sticks to reach for the mouse :) Don't know if it works like that just yet, but seems like a no-brainer thing to strive for.
+Tobii EyeX That's very cool and I really appreciate that you have come here to provide more information. But as a followup, does that mean you can set the head tracking and the eye tracking as separate control inputs? In other words, as the previous poster suggested, could you use the "head tracking" input for looking around the cockpit, and have a separate eye tracking input bound to the mouse cursor? Or are both head and eye movement combined into a single axis control set?
+allmhuran Edit on previous comment: Our Infinite Screen Extension does not do head tracking for DCS. +Gudmundur Wagnsson We do have the "Mouse warp on click" feature in EyeX Interactions that moves the mouse cursor to where you look when you click a button and also performs a mouse click at that location when you release the button. This might work well together with TrackIR in DCS but we can't comment on their products. NOTE: This feature has nothing to do with our latest Infinite Screen Extension.
Jester I have a question about your 506th unit, what are the usual hours you do missions. Like when are they scheduled during the day. That information isn't listed on the 506 forum. Thanks and keep up the good videos.
Is it possible to reverse the use of the Alt-key? So a fast click and hold on that while you do want/need to check out something on the HUD (and don't make your character in the game look around/look at weird directions at the same time)? So make Alt do "lock free look while hold (or lock with double-click or so)"
Jester? I have a question for you about Arma 3 editing. Is there any way to fade in, like to see everything unclear and getting better sight in seconds into a custom mission?
It appears from this video that it tracks pitch and yaw, but not roll. The calibration tracker at the beginning appeared to track X and Y movements and maybe Z, but it didn't appear to reflect that tracking in game when you were in the helicopter. I can't find info anywhere if it tracks X, Y and Z movements and if it does if those are reflected in game. For me personally, that 90 degrees limit is about 90 degrees too little. I also prefer to uncage my eyes from my head so I can look at my compass or ammo count without changing my view. But these are personal preferences. And if X, Y and Z aren't supported, then it's not worth it. Being able to move my head is more important than being able to move my pitch and yaw view. BTW, there is a button in Arma3 to recenter your view. I've always ignored it as I use TrackIR, but if you are looking back to center and the view doesn't center, try that button as it might help. By default, it is F12, I think.
so you can't look behind you (checking your 6 o'clock) 180 degrees behind you to left or right in flight sims, like trackir can? are the 3 led lights on the eyex bar on your monitor distracting, glaring in your face permanently? thank you
i recently bought the tobii 4C after owning a trackir 5 for years. My initial impressions of Tobii head tracking vs trackir is that the Tobii is sluggish, though I'm hoping i can configure the Tobii in arma to match the Trackir in quick reflex and accuracy. Tobii works nice in GRW. I hardly fly in arma and feel dependant on the Trackir for free look in games such as Dayz, Miscreated, MWO,to name a few.
I just brought one,but not working in game.I got this message on my infinite screen extension"You need to launch and exit the game at least once before you start using infinity screen"I did restart it still and didn't work in game. But I my arma 3 show the Vjoy in the control menu.
I've never spoken to someone that had one that wasn't broken. It's always the same spot too. They just need to reinforce it with some tiny steel tabs and it would be golden. Lazy as hell.
Great vid! I use FaceTrackNoIR and find that the overhead to use it on my system (i7-930) tends to kill the experience on some games due to lag, frame drops, etc. Is this system better than FaceTrackNoIR in that respect?
A few points : does it work with spectacles . No zoom in /out ? and of course , the " only 90 degrees" thing. Almost forgot : peeking view , or outside view in a vehicle .
If it works with glasses , it would help me , cause I fucked up when I bought TrackIR , and I used it once only to understand I can't use it with multi-focal lenses . :(
I don't know what multi-focal lenses are. You should probably email tobii and ask before purchasing. I just know they're supposed to work with glasses.
+express49 Is the issue with Multifocal lenses due to varied angle of reflection of the IR from the head unit? If so you might want to look into the Track Clip Pro LED since that projects the IR from LEDS attached to your headset and doesn't rely on reflection from the stock clip. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QKRD4DM?colid=1IQUK5D3ZBGZJ&coliid=I14XUHR4UTCS6B&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl
Well, vid says 30%, then description knocks it down to 10%, however when you put the code in, it only give you about a 6% discount?? 139.99 my math says should be minimum $14.00 discount and if 30% discount, $42.00 Either is not available as it give a $10.00 discount. neat kit though, will it work if you wear glasses? Cheers
Isn't the point so you can keep your eyes at the center of the screen and just move you head to see like track ir, what if you wanna look 90 degrees? your looking at the wall then
You can turn off the bubble indicator showing where you're looking can't you? That'd be the weirdest thing to get used to in games. What would be a nice way to get around that issue you had with the chopper instruments would be if you could use the software to paint an area that the device would ignore (or paint the valid areas that it'd apply to). That way you could mark a box where HUD elements are as an area that the system would ignore, say if the box was 200px square you could centre that over the place where your helo HUD is and have it indented from the edges of the screen by say 50px so you could look beyond the box into the very corner of the screen and still have the system look diagonally
+Aliasalpha Yep! the bubble overlay won't be seen in-game as that is mainly used for streaming purposes to indicate where you were looking while playing.
+Rob Heiser A day or two ago I was actually thinking that's what TrackIR needs to do for the next iteration. I was thinking in terms of Star Citizen/Elite Dangerous where you might want to look in a direction and then have your gimbals dial in on where your eyes are looking.
im thinking about getting the EyeX but i was wondering and i couldnt see clearly in this video...does EyeX only move the camera or am i able to aim accurately with it? or do i still have to aim with my mouse?
Great review, thank you! I wondered if you can set it to control the mouse cursor movement. When I use flight simulators having to try and use the mouse while flying is a major annoyance. My dream would be to use my TrackIR for head movement and the EyeX for mouse cursor control, and map the mouse buttons to my HOTAS. For ARMA I think your setup are the right way to go. Actually there's a way to set a button to move your cursor where you're looking and a second option to make it mouse click when you do that. So yes you can set it to move your mouse to where you're looking and click that spot by binding it to a button.
Awesome, might be a kickass application for my simming. Look around in the cockpit and control the cursor with the eyes! I have to get my wallet ready for a purchase :) Thank you.
+Tommi Honkonen What? Why? Then you would have two completely separate inputs controlling the camera. THat has the potential for all kinds of wierdness.
+Tommi Honkonen If there was a way to bind the eye tracking to fine aim control and restrict it's sensitivity to a box in the middle of the screen then that'd be pretty sweet. Move your head to shift the camera and then use you eyes to focus on a particular spot within a few hundred pixels of the centre of the screen (or of the crosshair/ironsight)

I like the hardware and agree that it will be useful for some people but the whole competitive game genre can be cut out with this.I have to look at my target and press the trigger and that's it.I understand its not the software's fault but with cool tech comes suffering-Meh im an arma player anyway

Great overview of the product. Definitely might be something I end up buying in the future.
Does it work with googly eyes?
Serious question.
That I don't know. Get one and find out :p
+AWACS Hey! It works with glasses, contact lenses and wait for it...even sunglasses!
+Tobii EyeX Do you ship from US? Or is it from Sweden?

Oh no... but that's awesome for them. Means they're selling a lot!
Wait, since when did you have over 100k subscribers :o great job on the channel in general jester, and this is the first time I have seen you :D
Watched the video and ended up ordering one with your coupon code. Closest thing to VR I'll be getting until VR goes mainstream. Thanks!
:)
This is a promising piece of tech. Thanks for the overview and competition giveaway.
Dude, I'm watching this video and I'm LITERALLY wearing the same exact t-shirt as you!
It just. WORKS.

+Jester814 Gotta pinch those pennies.
Hey Jester...nice review! couldn't help but notice your a Star Citizen backer, what's your tag?
I think i will get it and try it for DCS. I can not leave it for this price. Hope it works with glasses. Need to research that first.
Let us know if it works with glasses.
+鬼に金棒 It does!

Awesome vid Drum. Have you tried it in low light conditions?
+ToxicSludge it uses IR. Room lighting doesn't matter at all.
+robpsychobob Ah cool, thanks mate :-)
Does it currently have, or plan to have any functionality such as squinting or tightening your eyebrows for zooming in or another such control.
A few points : does it work with spectacles . No zoom in /out ? and of course , the " only 90 degrees" thing. Almost forgot : peeking view , or outside view in a vehicle .

What the deuce? I have the same headphone, shirt and bookshelf as Jester.
How to make AI enter building that I placed (In Editor) ? I can't do it with Waypoint tool because there's no menu to select position in building...
I wonder if it would work better for you to bind it to aiming instead of your view, and use TrackIR for view (if that would even work).
+Rob Heiser A day or two ago I was actually thinking that's what TrackIR needs to do for the next iteration. I was thinking in terms of Star Citizen/Elite Dangerous where you might want to look in a direction and then have your gimbals dial in on where your eyes are looking.
Perfect, any chance this is working with Prepar3D V3.x flight simulator? (Via SimConnect).
i cant get the InfiniteScreen_Bundle to install correctly :( gets half way and stops installing
can this be used for leaning around corners ?, like you can with trackir .
What pistol is that on the book shelf?
im thinking about getting the EyeX but i was wondering and i couldnt see clearly in this video...does EyeX only move the camera or am i able to aim accurately with it? or do i still have to aim with my mouse?
What training mission are you using in video, thx
is it only for pc? and if not is there anything similar like this for console games.

Does that code still work for the discount?
hey jester is your group open for sc player?
Not something Id use with Aces High or similar, but cool tech yo...
I'd like to see this combined with trackir.
+Tommi Honkonen What? Why? Then you would have two completely separate inputs controlling the camera. THat has the potential for all kinds of wierdness.

well, strange to think i was gonna buy TrackIR Next week, i think il wait and see if how Eyex looks in the future
The only thing i dont like is that distorted field that shows on the monitor where ever you look
+Chris H It's optional to have it visible or not, no problem :)
+Werzion That's great to hear!

how does it work in FPV?
What sight is that?
is it possible for this to a have a small dead zone in the center so that it doesn't move if you just want to look a small bit
You can adjust the deadzone and limits it will go to the sides
awesome thanks for telling
Just order one with your coupon code. $95 +$25 S+H. They said 3 weeks. How long did your order take?
Same with me. I thought the shipping cost was a little excessive but what do it know.

hi....thanks for the video....if its work at star citizen?
thanks
SC is on their list but it doesn't work currently. Of course neither does TrackIR or the Oculus.

Does it work with TrackIR together? Usable?
They basically do most of the same so probably not a good idea to mix them!
I wonder what would happen if somebody sits besides you :) Anyhow, nice product and the price is not that bad
+lombaseggl666 Hehe that's a very good question, that or what would happen if you put a stick on teddy bear eye in the middle of your forehead

Broke freetrack for ArmA specifically? If so, go to your user.arma3profile and make sure freetrack=1 and not 0
+Jester814 No.It broke the driver for the cam. Thanks for the info tho,and keep up the great work.
Is it just me or does that room look different?
How could that possibly happen??? It boggles the mind!
monitor size?
24
I like the hardware and agree that it will be useful for some people but the whole competitive game genre can be cut out with this.I have to look at my target and press the trigger and that's it.I understand its not the software's fault but with cool tech comes suffering-Meh im an arma player anyway
What about people who use glasses? Because of screen reflections.
It works with glasses
options are optional ..... lol RvB joke
Shut up Caboose!
How does this work with glasses?
+Jayden Shaw Works just as good with glasses or contact lenses.
Who else looked at the dots when he was calibrating?
I knew you'd have a beard....
Ayye we got the same headset
I think it is cool
what if you're crosseyed like me?
You can set it up to only track one eye or the other. Works for people with a strongly dominate eye or, in your case, crosseyed.
sweet, thanks
+Jester814 Also handy for pirates!
