Portable Proportioner OSP-24i-T - Operation

The portable proportioner OSP-24i-T from One Seven is a positive pressure proportioner. The technology of positive pressure proportioners does not mix foaming agent into the extinguishing water by the underpressure technique (Venturi principle) as traditional Z proportioners do it. In case of positive pressure proportioners, foaming agent is actively conveyed from the foaming agent tank into the extinguishing water by an electrically driven pump implemented in the proportioner.
Positive pressure proportioners have several advantages over proportioners operating with the Venturi principle:
1.) The foaming agent is metered with highest precision by the positive pressure proportioner. This means that high-performance foaming agents with particularly low proportioning rates can be used. The consumption of these foaming agents is very economical. This extends operation times in firefighting. In medium term these foaming agents save running costs. Our One Seven foaming agent class A, for example, has a proportioning rate of only 0.3%.
2.) By means of modern sensor technology in a positive pressure proportioner the proportioning rate of foaming agent can always be kept constant. Deviations from the optimum delivery volume (e.g. due to an increase in water flow or changes of the viscosity of foaming agent) are immediately detected and automatically corrected. This means that the extinguishing agent is always produced in optimum quality.
3.) Positive pressure proportioners operate independently of the lengths of hose lines, i.e. independent of pressure and back pressure. They can be set up directly at the fire engine. Here a positive pressure proportioner supplies several nozzles with extinguishing agent via a manifold. If obsolete Z proportioners are used, 1 proportioner and 1 canister with foaming agent are required for each nozzle. This requires high logistical effort which ties up many firefighters. In addition there is quite a lot of material in the danger zone of the fire, since the maximum length of a hose line after the proportioner is 20 m to get halfway satisfying mixing results for the extinguishing agent.
This video shows how the One Seven positive pressure proportioner OSP-24i-T is operated. This proportioner can be carried comfortably by 2 people. The highly accurate dosing of foaming agent is made automatically, based on a customer specific preset proportioning rate and the actual measured water volume flow. The plunger pump integrated in the proportioner is suitable for all foaming agents approved for firefighting up to a viscosity of 500 mPa*s. The One Seven OSP-24i-T positive pressure proportioner is operated intuitively via an integrated 5-inch color display with touchscreen. This display also shows the measured sensor data for system monitoring. It can be operated even when its surface is wet and even with gloves.
