"It makes me happy." Dude. You put the biggest smile on my face. I really dig your video and attitude, dude. Thank you. I just bought this camera. It's been a dream of mine for years. I love all that you're saying about it.
Great review! I used to own the BMPCC4K last year but ended up selling it because the battery options were still a bit difficult for me. And then Red released the Komodo, it was the best compact film cinema camera ever, plus it is "Red". But after seeing your review, I will probably get a G2! Your image is truly amazing!
Love it man! I love the colors that black magic produces. I've been shooting on the pocket 4k the past year, and after watching this I'm really considering the Ursa mini!
Thank you so much, im looking for a camera that looks as a real film quality being a digital camera, and the mini ursa is the only one that has this organic almost film look, im so happy that i found your channel, an honest opinion i appreciate it your time to talk about this beautiful equipment. How has the build quality been? For instance, crackling, lens mount having the lens fully secured without any movement etc? I have the Pocket 4K but looking to upgrade sometime this year. Totally agree with you with Resolve. Took me a while to get used to it as our agency works primarily with Premiere but now, can't even touch Premiere without being sick. I am shit at colouring tho.

Very nice review mate. Honest.. and precise. Loved it. Thinking of getting the 12K version... I just wish the body was a bit less clunky... ;) but for the price and quality, I think nothing beats BM... (may be Komodo...?). Cheers
Very useful! Great content! I’m currently shooting on a Panasonic EVA1 and looking for a second camera. Very tempted by the Ursa, having access to Resolve is also very nice!
Hey Carlo ! Really enjoy your work and channel as a new Ursa G2 owner. I wanted to know if your are using the Rawlite OLPF on your G2 or not ? Thank you 🙏🏻
Awesom review! Just bought the G2 after watching this. Do you think the XLR inputs are sensitive enough? I used to use a fethead phantom on my ursa mini 4.6k to boost the signal.
I haven’t had a problem with the xlrs at any point, especially if it’s just me going direct. When there’s sound mixers on set they do their thing and tap in but no problems
I know what you mean about reason #6. I legitimately feel happy when I turn on my G2 to start shooting something. It’s so solidly built and easy to use that I can’t wait to be creative. I replaced an FS7 with the G2 primarily because the FS7 menus take the joy out of the creative experience on a shoot. Also, the color and image quality that comes out of the G2 is incredible. The way it handles blacks and shadows and the contrast gives the image a pop creating this texture that makes it feel like you can touch through the screen. Hard to describe- or maybe I just did:-). A have two pocket 4ks and they don’t make me feel happy like the G2 does. Popping in a V-Mount battery knowing that I have lots of time to shoot is also very comforting.
Excellent presentation and useful tips. How do you save footages since cf card do not have enough memory. Also what long lens can we use ,thanks for sharing.Yash.
I think it’s a solid camera. Depends on your shooting style. If you do a lot of gimbal work than it’s perfect, even handheld (if you build out a rig) I personally still like the ursa
Hey, thanks for the video and sharing your opinion. I’m debating on purchasing this camera or the fx6. I’m already into the sony eco system and that’s a big hold to go on with the ursa but I really love their color science. Any recommendation? Thanks in advance!
I’d say go FX6 it’s a beautiful cam and the color is really nice if you can spend some time learning color grading you can really make it anyway you want
Nice review, you don't seem to be fussed or didnt even mention autofocus, not terribly important but how do you feel about not having it? I'm looking at a C70, mainly because it's ticking most the boxes + great AF, but I could easily swing Ursa Mini at the same time, but I would really benefit from an AF at times just because I'm tracking humans or products so often as I bounce around the place. I suppose ideally we'd have a 1st AC but it's not always possible!
Hey man! Thanks for the comment. It’s true I am not ever concerned about AF I pull focus on so many things that it doesn’t even phase me. But it’s always nice to have an AC!
I have the ursa 4K and I’m ready to finally purchase a new A camera after 6 years. Torn between the Ursa Mini 12k or the c300 mark 3. I want to keep everything black magic, but I’m seriously debating because this is the last time I’ll be spending this much on a camera again, for at least 10 years. Lol 😂 Ima just shoot with what I have on hand moving forward. Lol what are your thoughts on the weight of the Ursa mini? My biggest problem with the first generation Ursa was the weight. It literally limited my creativity and shooting ability due to the weight. So I haven’t shot as much as I could have over the past 5 years. So moving forward, everything I shoot with needs to be light enough for me to get great shots handheld with, while also being able to use in conjunction with free flowing stabilization. Do you think the mini achieves that?
Man I’m late seeing this but I’m in the market for buying it and I saw the 12k...would it be more wise to get my baring with the URSA 4.6 before I jump too high to the 12k?
Love the video. Hey do you now if the 12k will take still shots? Can the G2 do stills? I realize these are cine cameras, but I am trying to make the argument for this camera but need a camera to take product photos. lol Yes, i am trying to make the argument for a cine camera while using the excuse I can take stills too
Not standalone stills but you can take stills from individual frames. I do this too. If I just want a still frame I’ll shoot it with my Ursa cause I like the color it provides opposed to an actually photo camera
Hey man! I think its a beast of a camera. I think its a great Run and Gun camera. Like always, depends on your shooting style. If you're not a fan of heavy rigs than its great but also know this camera does work better with a rig attached to it
Thanks man! C300 def is a beast in its own right. But I felt the same way- a little too much money for me. I figured the G2 was the best for what you get
How low do you recommend going at a maximum if you were to use BRAW on a client shoot? I know you know you go ProRes but wondering if you have an opinion on it
Depends on the shot, sometimes I don’t stabilize I truly enjoy the handheld look alone but for some handhelds I just use the build in stabilizer from Davinci Resolve
Thanks 🙏🏽 Enjoy your beast G2 Even the 12K isn’t so interesting 🧐 regarding the adds to the G2.. only the digi high frame rates are.. but It is a pure marketing gear ;-))
Thanks man! And I can really only speak to the Ursa but my advice is try to get your hands on both. Specs are amazing on both so don’t get too carried away by that. Make sure you are comfortable holding the camera and it’s something you can visualize yourself using long term
