Clever … so very clever ... but most importantly, so quickly informative. Sidebar Comment Every week I marvel at the simple but effective presentations … like watching an Olympic figure skater easily gliding around the rink effortlessly executing one jump after another (or for the three 'older' viewers … like watching the American actress/dancer Ginger Rogers (from the 1930's) dancing w/Fred Astaire … flawless.
Hello Leila, Thanks a million for all of your brilliant videos. I have learnt a great deal from you. One thing is I notice in this video there is a lot of low frequency bonk bonk bonk sound when you type or bump the desk surface. I am a sound engineer and suggest that you place a low pass cut filter in your audio signal chain, some mixing desks have a LOW CUT button, otherwise you could try turning the bass down. Anything below 100 Hz or 200 Hz you would be best getting rid of. The other thing I have to thank you for is that you don't have annoying music in the background. Well done! 🙂
Love the way you present ways to take Excel to the next level. I like downloading your sample spreadsheet. I attach the link to the video so I can play it over so I can do it from memory. Thanks so much for your expertise!!! Extremely informative!!!
Oh Leila....no words to express my thanks ...this is exactly what i was trying to do for quite some time........thanks from the core of my 💓..........you are really a life savior......
Good video, some useful tips there! Conditional formatting on charts can be achieved using a little VBA. I have a simple piece of code which loops through all data points in all series in a chart and colours them green, orange or red based on their value. Happy to share if others would find this useful.
@@rizbfatango Not sure how the code will work in a UA-cam comment but i'll try. I also use the method above for 2 (and 3) different colours of smaller data sets. But one chart I was tracking hourly recordings for a month and so this resulted in 744 datapoints - creating 3 different series to accomodate the above approach just wasn't practical, so i used the code below Sub ChangeChartColours() Dim cht As Chart, s As Series, p As Point Dim vals, i, x As Integer
Set cht = ActiveChart
On Error Resume Next
For i = 1 To 31 '31 as there is up to 31 days in a month
Set s = cht.SeriesCollection(i)
vals = s.Values
For x = LBound(vals) To UBound(vals) If vals(x) > 100 Then With s.Points(x) .Format.Fill.ForeColor.RGB = RGB(255, 0, 0) 'Red End With ElseIf vals(x) > 30 Then With s.Points(x) .Format.Fill.ForeColor.RGB = RGB(237, 125, 49) 'Orange End With Else With s.Points(x) .Format.Fill.ForeColor.RGB = RGB(112, 173, 71) 'Green End With End If Next x Next i Set cht = Nothing Set s = Nothing End Sub
My company only use google sheets, I just apply the same techniques. I still shine at my job because of your tutorials. Thanks for another awesome one.
Hi Leila, This trick is so powerful and useful in order to show maks and min. values into a Chart. I learned this technique from your previous lectures and applied in my reports very successful. You are so miracle Leila 🙌. I love you✨
Hi Leila, thanks for your awesome tutorials, which are simply the best out there. I am currently struggeling with a competition analysis and hope that you have a solution for the following scenario. I have to make sure, that each competitor is always displayed with the assigned color in all graphs, e.g. IBM in Blue, Google in Green, Microsoft in Orange etc. It‘s really awkward to manually assign it to all graphs over and over again. Thanks in advance for your help and looking forward to hearing from you.
It's always exciting to watch these videos... It's so instructive and concise at the same time. I can't wait for the next video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Ms. Leila.
Hi Leila.. AWESOME!! These tips really supercharge the chart creation process! Invert if negative, Copy and Paste Special Formats, Object Grouping, etc. All super valuable! Thanks for sharing them :)) Thumbs up!!
Hi Leila, that's beautiful in its simplicity and as the third google result for my query on that exact issue I was lucky to click on it first and have the patience to watch the video (I tend to judge things too quickly and thereby miss out!), simple is best, thank you once more:)
Really cool trick! I finished your VBA course the other day - now I'm going through the Power Query one. Really enjoying it! Will you be making a dedicated Power BI one?
Fantastic. I love your chart videos. One of a few on youtube that concentrate on formatting/presentation and clarity, which seems to get lost on many tutorials, but is vital. Most of my data is Data Model derived these days in an attempt to make it more dynamic, but I'll definitely apply this technique to the pivot chart as opposed to the normal chart (I wish the two were completely aligned). Great work!
cool nostalgia effect from Udemy class, but I do miss your waterfall graph chart. It was pretty useful for my past project, and boss was impressed. till next week.
Grab the file I used in the video from here 👉 pages.xelplus.com/conditional-bar-chart-file
Seeing the copy chart format was worth the price of admission alone!!
I thought I knew a bit about charting, but this is light years ahead of me! Thanks Leila
Glad it was helpful!
