Atta Boy ! The 38' was a great machine, a good example of American ingenuity.
How Kelly got 400 + mph with 1930's engines...
    Will subscribe to your channel.
    Happy first flight !

While I do love to just buy and fly a plane, as flying was always the point of my R/C hobby, there's something special about a plane built like yours. The time and skill involved, the REAL risk to flying it and the risk of all that work being lost or broken. It's a whole other level of the hobby and you did a wonderful job with it.

For the same bucks you could by a foamie that looks really good, but you took the hard way and made your own, from a kit, but still your swet. I must say you did the sensible thing and you still have had fun on top of that, building it. And the plane looks even better than a foamy. Congratulations.

Nice build. For those few who gave thumbs down you can't appreciate the time and skill involved to make a wood model fly that nicely and hold together strong. Not to mention the mechanics and moving parts. Well done Sir! I'm currently building corsair f4u4 with detaching bombs as well. I hope It soars as well as yours.

Wow ! ! All of these videos featuring RC planes have almost inspired me to get back into it after 30 + years. Back then, it was an expensive hobby (as compared to my income!) and could get messy with fuel exhasts and such. I designed and flew "pattern" planes and even used Guillows kits to "scale up" a few warbirds! I've got a footlocker full of balsa, a couple of OLD radios and equally old engines. With the electric motor technology available today, I'm ready to get the "bug" again ! !

Lovely. Built the FW190 Guillows kit years ago as a 049 C/L. The hobby sure has advanced!

You got my 'Thumb's Up' at liftoff - this is how I have always envisioned my old Guillows 70s & 80s rubberband 'free flight' kit to be (R/C), but never got there before moving on to other life projects... my hats off to you. Now, I am just about to get back into building again and flying. ; ) BTW - your corsair project is totally awesome - well done.

    @milesperpound I got a one called "F4U-4 CORSAIR GUILLOW'S WING SPAN 30 3/4 BALSA KIT".
I am a member of RC Groups. I also fly Parkzone Corsair and I love it. I really love the looks of Corsair that's why I would love to build this one and make it electric.
I think my biggest challenge will be covering the wings as I have no experience with that at all. I am pretty good with manual work though so hopefully I will be OK.
    Thanks for your quick reply!

    Hi George from France,
Thanks, Certainly those are subjects I have wanted to do. I am currently working on a Guillows P-38 that should be off the board soon. Anyway as mentioned below, the Prop is from Hobby Lobby here in the states. I am pretty sure they will ship to france. Thanks for watching.

@milesperpound I will start a thread for sure. I will probably start building in the winter though. I will have more spare time because I won't be able to fly my PZ Corsair in winter ;)
I also have to clean up a room where I intend to build my Balsa Corsair. I have to turn it into my work-studio ;)
    Thanks again for your help!

I framed up the fuselage then used a small razor saw and cut through the formers just above the side keel. Then copied the top of the formers for each end of the hatch. use bass wood for edges as they stay strait. rare earth magnets will hold it in place. you can see it on RC groups scale forum Guillows Corsair with rotating retracts. Thanks -m

Thanks B, She looks fast due to the size. Remember it is only a 30" wing span, or should I say 76.5 CM compared to the PZ Corsair at 111.8 CM. It does get small in a hurry though.

@kmlkrk Great, Start a thread and you will get lost's of help. Covering is not that hard. just takes patience. Practice on a foam glider with low heat. The kit I got was pre 1980's so it included a second cowl, One for F4U-1D and one for F4U-4. The Parkzone stuff is fun, Building is lot of fun too. Best -MPP

ROMF, If your are going to build this I would suggest joining RCGroups - free. There are a lot of great modelers that can help answer your questions. It is just a lot easier then here on youtube. Again there is a great index of these conversions in the Scale forum stickyed at the top. Hope this helps, mpp

Thanks, I guess?? glad you enjoyed it, The color scheme I chose was that of early F4U's. I am still trying to get info from my friend on his fathers F4U-1D. That was the intent. Host of a coveted RC show with not much to say? What a career that would be. AFA the glasses it was sunny, hey old crapy prescription sun glasses, to each his own as they say ;^) .

@killer84s10 depends on if they are currently in production or obsolete. best bet is to go to eBay and look at similar listings under Guillows. I have seen some of the rarer models go for quite a bit. Let me know what you have. I am always interested. Thanks -M

@kmlkrk Hi it took about three months, or around thirty hours. It is one of the better Guillows to convert, Go to RCGroupsdotcom and the electric scale forum has a Guillows conversion listing. This one is on the list and has all the detail of how I did it. Did you get the older kit with the F4U-1D cowl. If you don't use the 1D cowl I could use a new one as I had a little crash damage. Good luck it is a fun build! -MPP

@ratmq Hey the 1000 series are a good place to start. the best are the SBD and the Hellcat. second would be the P-47 and the Corsair. Best advice I can give is go to RC Groups dot Com and on the scale forum is a list of Guillows conversions. This Corsair is linked there also. This is the best resource for these conversions. Easy to ask questions there also. Let us know how you make out. Cheers -M

@sainty22 Hi, you can get the whole build thread on RCGroupsdotcom it is in the scale forum and look at the top sticky Guillows conversions- list of conversions, it is under kit 1004 Corsair. There are several threads that are good reference for conversion. I go by the same handle there Milesperpound. Much easier and helpful site for what you are looking for. Good luck this was a fun project.
Unfortunately the retracts are no longer made...sorry -MPP
