That Orana Interior is just iconic.... and if the time does come they will definitely be missed by all

I wasn't a fan of these buses for quite a while but they're starting to grow on me. There's just something about them that the newer buses don't have and from what I know they're liked by drivers. I much enjoy their simplicity and the stop bell is a lot nicer than the musical Bustechs. One of these units (based out of Tempe) has a red disabled seating cover on EVERY SEAT except one or two. I forget which one though. Great videography and I look forward to more!

I remember the oranas used to be at Mona Vale depot in the northern beaches, but I think these days the majority of them are now at Brookvale depot and other depots too.

Pretty sure Mona Vale’s allocation got transferred to Waverley in 2021. Brookvale still has some Oranas, but their days are numbered.

I really enjoyed this video and the ride along with your informative commentary. The fan thingy at #1:14 is what some call a "whirligig," which circulates the air around the rear seat area as it is directly above the engine and can get quite hot. In wet weather, the little slats that you are filming through can be slid shut to avoid rain from entering the bus. However, not many passengers know that, and quite often, the driver never thinks to close it. The swinging hatch over the front door covers the door controls, and it was quite common for them to be swinging like this on these buses with even the centre door hatch taped closed on this bus. The panel in the passenger saloon directly behind the driver houses all the electrical fuses, which is why it says Caution authorised access only. I enjoyed all your camera angles and your clear and informative commentary. Well done 👏 👍

The spinny thing at 1:14 I refer to as a “whirlybird”, something my grandmother taught me many years ago on a bus. Sometimes I slide the little slats around to stop it from locking up over time, and you can definitely tell that they very rarely get touched. I was wondering what the authorised personnel only thing meant, because I didn’t think they’d be able to fit a human into that little box 😂. Thanks for watching and sharing your information John, I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😊

@@coolsoap8 Yes, they were also called whirlybirds which is what we called helicopters at the time because they looked like a rotor.

I did enjoy your video. Very informative & excellent camera/editing work. Think the only thing you didn't film was the a/c filter cover & outlets. For their age they appear to still be providing a satisfactory ride.

Thank you! I’m by glad you enjoyed my video. There weren’t many things I left out in this video, and now that you mention it I never thought to film the ac unit. You’re absolutely right, these buses show that age doesn’t change anything when it comes to what the bus is capable of. Thanks for watching 😊

While I was at Burwood before I started filming, there was a guy (clearly on drugs) yelling at this random truck driver, and the high guy yelled out “COME BACK HERE YOU F***ING DRUG LORD!”. Most Burwood thing I’ve ever seen lol 😂
