I worked at a garage with a guy from the Dominican Republic. In 1972 we graduated high school and his dad told him to bring two friends down to spend the summer. I was one of them. His dad had a huge farm on the north coast. His truck was a 1969 Toyota Land cruiser pickup. Painted blue, looking new. We probably put a thousand miles on it that summer going all over the country. I loved it. 😁😁

The older gent has a great outlook on life. Some people have passion, others meh. You guys are blessed with low humidity so there are a higher percentage of older vehicles to be able to resto-mod. The junk we have on the east coast has had lots of road salt and humidity to rust to nothing in 12-15 years if allowed to sit.

@@whitefishhire4598 I've still got my BJ42 near Hahndorf....
@@macro3234 moved away in 1996 after 42 years there
@@macro3234 is it for sale?
@@PeterTremlett Could be, Peter..... Where are you?
That old guy was so cool. If Paul doesn't build the unicorn instead of the other Toyota that would be a shame!
Australia was built using FJ45 Tojo, and the HJ troop carrier
@Barry Barry the Snowy Mountain scheme was build using Toyotas. When the CEO of Toyota came out see why Aussies loved the 4WD landcruiser so much, they put him in one and drove straight up the mountain side to the work site
Boy do I know the feeling of excitement when you find your “Unicorn”!! I found my “Unicorn” last fall and I’m super stoked to have it!!! Awesome stuff you’ve got rolling, keep it coming!!!
thank you for the comeback on my idea onget er done .you and matts O R R are my favorites then Caseys too . thanks, jim
Congratulations on your find. I can actually say I've never seen one of those until now
A unicorn is right, been looking for years. Even thought of importing one from Australia. The look on your face probably the same look when your children where born. Cheers
There is one for sale in idaho
Got y`alls T shirt, in the mail. American made, cool. Semper Fi. I`m proud to wear it on my American motorcycle, Ford truck, and Corvette.
Yea you aren’t lying I live in Maryland I’ve got a 1997 that has a worse looking frame than that great truck
You have to build the fj first. Look at the smiles from everyone. That alone tells me it needs to be worked on
Looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship...between you and the gentleman that sold it to ya....looks like you found something when you weren't looking for....
No way!!! That’s awesome dude! Excited to see the build videos for this!!! Definitely rock crawler. No doubt will be one of a kind. And definitely still keep the open roof to it. Obviously maybe a cool hard top or more financial reasonable canvas top lol. Lucky man you are! And I know you’ll build a bad ass rig too
The jeepster is bad ass too. I’ve only seen one guy who’s turned one into a rock crawler
The factory hard-top was included, in the bed. Had the later model corner windows not available on the earlier model.
The artist has found his canvas! Can't wait to see the build for this Paul. Keep up the great work. God bless you and your family.
I have never driven one but I’ve see them overseas and driven old land cruisers overseas. That is the find of a lifetime !!! Everyone will dig that truck when it’s done. Most won’t know what they are looking at
So cool Paul! I can't wait to see what you do with it! I lived in Panguitch for a couple years in high school, love Henrie's burgers, and their home fries!
They’re the best!
They were very popular here in Australia, still are! I get the feeling Paul’s a little excited about it! 🇦🇺🍺🍺
the expression on your face near the end of the video says it all. Congratulation you have found and brought home one of your dream vehicles. I went through that same senario back in the early 1980 with most of a 1937 Plymouth coupe and ended up with two 37 drivers, one of which my son still drives in the summer.
That’s freakin sweet!!! Congratulations, you did indeed find yourself a rare unicorn. Looking forward to the build videos 👍
heaps in aus.. all in the wreckers.. as scrap.. toyota built 1 decent truck. 96 , 80 series, 4.2tdi.. but the nissan gu is better..
Such a rad find and a perfect person for it to go too!
I just watched this after watching a couple videos of you going to the jamboree. I hope you still plan and driving it down his driveway and also filming it! I will definitely watch that. Just hearing your Utah accent helps cure my homesickness just a little bit. I moved from Utah to Florida 9 years ago and I miss that place!
Another awesome build, lets go! Being a Toyota guy I'm super excited to see what you do with this.
This is going to be awesome when your done Paul ! I cant wait for the build videos to come out.
Maannn what a beautiful truck you found!!!! also your videos had improoved a lot, congratulations!!! I can't wait to see the transformation of this truck!! Blessings!
I can't wait for this build. It's gonna be epic!
I am so excited for you. I can't wait to see it fixed up. This is my all time dream vehicle as well. Treat her right. 👍 👍
Edit: That is an amazing fella.
Paul made the right choice building the FJ it is something you don't see much, and makes a awesome rock crawler!!!! Again Awesome content Fab Rats!!!
Paul that is a sweet find can’t wait until she’s finished it going to look awesome. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there.
And here I was thinking it was a unimog, this is so much cooler.
I thought the same thing when he first started talking about it.
@@chrispotter8820 me too… then he said “Yota” got me thinking 60 series… then up pops a 40… love ‘em, I got an 80 oiler… ‘95.. 3 lockers straight from the factory. Pushing 1/2 million km still going strong. 🇷🇴🇬🇧👍🏻
Congratulations guys a real diamond in the rough looking forward to watch this awesome build and you are just the man to do it👍👍👍👍🇮🇪
Oh you'll have to restore that one! That is a thing of beauty! And the former owner is a great guy as well :) Also, I want a burger right now :D
