    Have you had to allow for profile deviations from the shot peening process as it can alter tooth geometry.
    Also have you had to grind the tooth tips after shot peening, as it can push material over on the tips?

    This level of detail is just standard for making gears, even Hollinger carry out this level of testing and processes for their gears. Showing the minimum is nothing fancy, what you should show is destructive testing, pushing them to their limit, running them without oil, running above recommended speed, above temperature, shock loading, thermal shock, foreign contamination, that is what makes them aviation certified, not just how pretty they look.

    I really hope that you do not suffer from excessive gear scream from straight cut gears, the rotor head being right above the passenger are might give you an unexpected high pitch and unacceptable noise in the cabin. You might need to change to semi-local cut gears to obviate the noise but wit increased side and end thrust losses.

    Each part has multiple critical dimensions… and material qualities… and process qualities…
    Losing a gear tooth in flight… could be really bad.
    I have seen the process of building Bell Helicopter gears, and the Jesus nut… back in the ‘90s. (Subcontractor in TX)
    Having full control in house… is a great way to go…
