      Waiting for my Tokina 11-20 T2.9. Next week i can tell you! When compared to my Tokina 11-20 ATX-I f2.8, my Sigma 18-35 (on Komodo) is clearly superior in overall quality. For the price is ok, but dont expect too much from ATX-i 450$ lens.

    You can get the same lens in a photo housing for $400!!! Might be better for solo focusing, and lighter for small gimbals...FYI

    Nice one Jake. Looks to be a solid lens for compact super 35 cameras. Would love to see some new lenses that have a lot more character but with modern mechanics. Seems everything now is super clinical.

    I know this is an old video, but would you recommend this lens over the Dzofilm 12-25mm? I am looking for a wide lens and thinking it will be between these two.

    In answer to: @rodrigodeantonibrito The wider a lens, the more expensive and difficult it is design and build. You can't expect the 11-20mm to be better than the Sigma 18-35mm due to the Tokina's relatively low price. The Tokina is a specialist lens for people that need ultra wide angle where as the Sigma is more of a wide to a standard zoom lens. They serve two different purposes and can't be compared as equals in that respect. There is nothing really as wide, as cheap, and of better image quality than the Tokina zooms.

    Strange artifact at 4:20…. Looks like the light is catching the inside of the lens barrel and lighting up the corners of the frame. Lovely lens but worth keeping in mind/testing at the wider focal lengths.

    How does it compare to the Laowa Zero-D 15mm and 12mm cine version lenses in terms of image quality? I believe the Tokina 11-20 is just a rehouse of the still version, so it should perform the same as the $900 still lens. Is that correct? Thanks

    I think the orange focal length markings from 16mm and upwards are supposed to indicate the quite significant falloff in brightness.
    After some testing, zooming all the way in gives you more of a t/4 instead of a t/2.9.
    Anyway, it is a great lens, but i wish this was mentioned in this video.

    • @creativegreats6924

      Based off what you're saying Does zooming in make you have to change your settings in cam like iso per say ?

    • @flyingfox2005
      @flyingfox2005 Рік тому +1

      It's been stated by Tokina that the change in the marking colours is to indicate FF / 135 coverage. Also the lens has a constant aperture, there is no ramping across the range.

      @@CVPTV As we know Sigma cine zoom lenses are made from the same glass as Sigma's 18-35 and 50-100mm still lenses have.
      So question is this, does Tokina Cinema 11-20mm T2.9 ATX and Tokina 50-135mm T2.9 Mark II Cinema ATX lenses are made from same glass as their still versions?
      If yes can you tell me the full name of that still version? Because there are ton of tokina still lenses and i couldn't figure out or you can share a b&h,amazon link.

      @CVPTV  3 роки тому +1

      No, lenses focal lengths do not change. What is changing is your fov. If you are wanting to know what the crop factor equivalent of this lens on a S35 vs a FF sensor, you're looking between 1.3-1.5x depending on the S35 sensor size. Jake

      @@FivosVas a 20mm lens on MFT will give the same AOV and perspective distortion as a 40mm on FF / 135. The faster the 20mm lens on MFT, the better the bokeh (compared to the equivalent focal length on FF / 135). A 20mm T2 lens will match the blur of a 40mm T4 lens on FF / 135
