    The RZ is not worth it like at all. Same atrocious specs as the bz4x only more expensive
    The Ariya is already the better Lexus rz450e

    I don’t understand why EVs that don’t have a transmission tunnel aren’t being made with open center consoles or like Ram pickups, fold up middle seats. The powered console just seems like wasted space.

    The Ariya is nice but the loaded model is way too expensive. The Cadillac Lyriq is better for $60k. I like and think the Ioniq-5 is the best EV for the price.

    • @gregkramer5588
      @gregkramer5588 2 роки тому +1

      The tax credit makes the Cadillac seem very nice. That said for the money the Ariya is good also and would be a fair amount less in price if not for the credit. The existing Lyric is only 2wd so I am comparing vs 2wd Ariya where it is $10k less.

    17:20 I remember an article saying e-Step is used for snowy or icy roads, as it monitors the tire slippage (doesn't fully stop to prevent locked wheels). I could be mistaken though.

    Nissan being a day late is not just about the delay due to the pandemic. With the LEAF they were essentially the first manufacturer to really mass produce a BEV, they even beat Tesla, although the Model S was for a different market than the LEAF. Had Nissan kept up the momentum and invested more in BEVs after the LEAF, they could have been dominating the market today.

    • @sudeeptaghosh
      @sudeeptaghosh 2 роки тому

      Like all other OEM leaf was just the compliance car leaf from the beginning was a poorly engineered not tested car ..that air cooled battery pack was pathetic .. and worse they never bothered to do anything about it .. Nissan is equally as worse as Toyota to slow down the EV adoption ..if they have done any due diligence Tesla would have never came to rescue us .. stop the lies that Nissan cared … this aria is just a survival car .. and it not gonna save Nissan

      I mean how could Nissan let go of making CVT transmissions that are ready to nuke themselves at a drop of a hat? Nissan is what happens when you are run by committee. Can't say it would've been any better if they weren't owned by the French as evidenced by Toyota, a leader in Hybrids, doing nothing. Likewise Toyota did nothing with hydrogen (like, idk, making refueling stations? Just a thought)

    $51k for a lower trim AWD with extended battery, and without the creature comforts found in the base model. For the same price you van get a top spec Ionic 5. Or a midrange Mach-E. Imo both of those are better options in terms of value. Also I just don't see paying so much for a Nissan. Maybe if it was an Infiniti.

    They should have updated the onboard charger, the car is brand new and it is already showing it’s age. 7.2 kw is not good enough for a car this expensive with the competition. I can go to my local dealership right now and get an EV 6 with much better charging capabilities and AWD already available. I think all decent electric cars will sell because there are not enough of them, but I don’t expect my local Nissan dealership will be able to charge extra for this in the same way that my local Hyundai dealership is adding $7000 to top spec Ioniq 5’s.

    A demo of Pro Pilot 2.0 would have been helpful. You run through a lot of stats very quickly including “Cools the battery using the air conditioning system up front”. I don’t think that’s correct. According to Nissans website since the beginning: Lithium-Ion Battery w/ liquid cooling. And the ioniq may have the ability to charge twice as fast but where?!? Tennessee has zero chargers at 350kw. PlugShare is showing only 4 350kw chargers in the southeast and they are all in Florida. The devil is in the details!

    • @seabream
      @seabream 2 роки тому

      Re: battery cooling - I don't think that those are mutually exclusive. I think it just means that it uses the same radiator and heat pump to dump heat to the outside from both the cabin and the battery (and probably also motor, inverter, etc...) just with valves and pumps directing circulation to a fluid loop for the battery pack, and another circuit for the passenger air, etc... Certainly Tesla has had systems like that for years. Other vehicles have separate systems. And for those you wouldn't say that they're using the air conditioner for battery cooling, but for something like this, I think it's appropriate.

    The Equinox is going to be the interesting one to watch in the next year, if GM gets it right AND offers it at the right pricing point, get ready for big swings in the EV market. In my mind the general public have been waiting for the $33-$36k EV, Tesla promised it, didn't up about, I thought Hyundai/Kia would have one, nope, but if GM put out a half decent EV and are willing to sacrifice profit for market share next year will get interesting, especially for a certain EV only company (I happen to own one of their products)....Now, I will say, I had a Lyriq reserved, however, after getting 10 minutes to look around it I cancelled my reservation, great interior, but the door handles and charger port look like they will be major issues, you really have to see it to get where I am coming from, but the Equinox could be a winner.

    Note that the Ariya charges faster than a Tesla with a similar battery size! The reason is the Nissan has a flatter charging curve. Compared to Model 3 SR, Ariya charges at 61 kW at 80% compared to 43 kW for the Tesla. The low peak rate of the NIssan is not telling much in this case.

    Thanks for the review. I have been looking at upgrading my 2019 Nissan LEAF SL+ that I bought at a discount in 2020. I have considered many makes and models and find myself back at the Ariya (Platinum). I value the quiet and comfortable ride, the quality interior, the ADAS, and the AWD, as well as slightly more cargo space than the LEAF (though that's not saying much). At this point in late 2023, I'm starting to see a couple of used and new Ariyas on dealer lots with significant discounts. Within the next couple of months, I hope to make one mine.

    Front wheel drive electric vehicles are NOT superior to rear wheel drive EVs in snow/rain. ICE front wheel drive cars are better in the snow because the heavy engine presses the tires into the ground for better traction. There is not a heavy ICE in an EV. The weight is better distributed. FWD EV has motor in front and RWD EV has motor in back. No difference.
