I think the effect of not showing captain Opara's face and the rest of the crew took away that sense of personal loss, because we never got to see them. It was a genius way to build up the tension towards Snowball sacrificing themself to really portray her loneliness and having no one else left. I think this decision was so right because the effect it had on snowball would not be as powerful if we already suffered it once. The animation team is top notch!
The game launched with these characters: D.va, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Winston, Zarya, Bastion, Mccree(Cassidy), Genji, Hanzo, Junkrat, Mei, Pharah, Reaper, Soldier: 76, Symmetra, Torbjorn, Tracer, Widowmaker, Lucio, Mercy, Zenyatta. So the cool thing about the cinematics (and origin stories) is that they often teased things about the next character or future characters to be released. And now as for when each character was added: Ana -July 2016 Sombra -November 2016 Orisa -March 2017 Doomfist -July 2017 Moira -November 2017 Brigitte -March 2018 Wrecking Ball -July 2018 Ashe -November 2018 Baptiste -March 2019 Sigma -August 2019 Echo -April 2020 (End of OW1 additions) Sojourn -April 2022 (beta) Junker Queen -June 2022 (beta) Kiriko -October 2022 Ramattra -December 2022 Lifeweaver -April 2023
Can confirm that for people who had been with Overwatch from the start, Zero Hour was THE cinematic. Every cinematic that had been released had been an event, and it felt like it all had been leading to Zero Hour (even if some of them had no direct connections to it, like Bastion's short). There has been a lot of controversy around OW2 but in the end I can't fault Blizzard for going the free-to-play route. It's bringing in new people, who gets to experience these great characters and their stories for the first time.
Fun fact about Hanzo there is a voiceline in game of him saying he is way better with a sword which explain how he use the bow as a sword in the cinematic quite well
If you want good summary of lore of overwatch you should watch, lore of overwatch (up to Ow2) by SVB. I find it good video for some Basic lore stuff in ow1.
Yes, "I call for Backup" Guy from Kiriko is "I run into the Bell" Guy from Dragons. And other fact, Kirikos Mom was the one that trained Hanzo and Genji.
a few things: 1)27:07 She says "Adieu Chérie" which means "Farewell, love" 2)about the trailer "hero", Jack Morrisson aka Soldier 76 is american, but the trailer takes place in Dorado (in Mexico) which is btw, one of the playble maps in the game and the city where Sombra lived as a kid (most likely). and yes, Soldier is gay, and btw a big part of the playable characters are LGBTQ+ 3) Morrisson (as I said earlier) is Soldier 76 real name, and for the other seats, which are destined to the former overwatch agents, Amari is Ana's seat (real name Ana Amari), Lindholm is for Torbjörn (real name Torbjörn Lindholm) and Ziegler is Mercy's seat (real name Angela Ziegler) 4) yes Snowball is in the game, if you pay attention to Mei's Ultimate, you'll see that the thing she throw to make the blizzard is actually snowball
About reinhardts animated short, yes you can find Baldereich (not sure how to spell it) the guy who died on the throne on Eichanwalde map sitting on the throne in game :)
Widowmaker lore because I love her Widow is not evil. Not on purpose. She was made that way. Widowmaker is a part of talon, but before that, she was married to her husband, Gerard. Gerard was a member of overwatch, and a massive thorn in Talon's side. But Talon could not reach him. So, they went after his wife, Amelie. Talon kidnapped Amelie, torturing her and turning her into a sleeper agent to kill her husband. When she is released, she murders Gerard in his sleep. She then returns to Talon, where she is trained as a sniper. Moira, the scientist of Talon, experiments (painfully) on Amelie, slowing her heart rate and ridding her of emotions. In the end, Amelie is turned into Widowmaker, but she still remembers her husband, and visits his grave on Christmas.
I've seen the Dragons short a bunch of times but just now thought of this: Genji had to fight his brother and beat him to the point where he could kill him just to show his brother that he didn't hate him and had no resentment and wanted no revenge from him? Like saying "Look, I have the chance to kill you and I DON'T want to."
Since no one else has answered this, the Omnics that D'va was fighting attack on a regular schedule and they had just suffered an attack. Based on the pattern that had been going on for years, they had months to repair and rearm before the next attack. And given the amount of injuries D'va had that the news reported as "not a scratch", I can only imagine that the rest of the team was in the hospital or worse after "taking a few hits" in the previous battle.
For some reason the chapters don't seem to be working, the time stamps are also in the description so you can jump to whatever cinematic you wanna see first!
i don´t know if you found out, 76 is because he was number 76 of an experimental line of "super soldiers" him and Reyes were in it, Reyes was Soldier 26 if i remember right ^^
ITS A HUGE SPECIAL REACTION VIDEO! With finally getting into the Overwatch fever around a week ago, its time for me to finally check out ALL Overwatch Cinematics + Animated Shorts in one big session! Catch my Overwatch streams here: www.twitch.tv/niclasobrovac
actually the first cinematic came out before the game so in 7:59 many characters doesn't exist in the game and luio zenyata and junkrat are not agents of overwatch in the lore
and for soldier76(Jack Morrison),he was the commander of Overwatch, after a accident explosion of the Overwatch Headquarters Building he faked his death and became soldier76 to work alone.btw 76 is his code number during a Soldier Enhancement Program
and Reaper(Gabriel Reyes)used to be a Overwatch agent,he was also the former commander before soldier76 but now he choose to deal with the World in a more violent way and join the Talon(The other members of Talon are Doomfist Widowmaker Moira Sombra Sigma)
I think in the Kiriko cinematic, they missed the opportunity to have an angry faced kitsune in the background saying "kanezaka is under my protection" in sync with Kiriko considering the layered voice effect the put on it as if her at the kitsune were as one. Think something Naruto esk with the nine tails.
take a look to the origin stories, they´re very informative, and a few are so awsome. also i love your beard 🧔❤, and i apriciate a man that is not afraid to cry infront of a camera
Damn, I didn't knew you are making reactions to Cinematics. I only know you from your K-Pop reactions. I guess I have something to watch this evening ❤
One of my favorite nuisances about overwatch, when someone uses their ultimate it will have a voice line so you know. However, if an ally uses it then it will be in English. If an enemy uses it then it was be their native language. "Its just another shooter game" not really, there's no other game on the market like it. Some game modes are unique to the game, while a few were inspired by Team Fortress 2. The characters have unique personalities, weapons and abilities, ultimates. The PVE missions added last season added over 1000 unique voice lines to the game, meaning on top of all the voice lines from 2016-2022, there are probably 3000+ unique voice lines in game. The characters dont feel like "generic merc #1" like in other games. There are game mechanics specific to overwatch that other games dont have, like Armor damage reduction, Shield health, being able to "eat" ultimates/abilities, fixed beam weapons (think big lightsabers), projectile weapons (kunai, shuriken, arrows, grenades) AND hitscan weapons, characters that have melee weapons
A reaction means "reacting", which means sharing my thoughts on the watched content. Idk what the point of a reaction would be if I just sat there without saying a word.
@@eagleblaze02 I watch a lot of reaction videos and this wasn't one. I know there aren't any rules as to how a reaction video should be done and im not here to flame, but he is literally missing so much content and clutch moments in the cinematics because he either talks over the voice lines or pauses the video in the most inappropriate time, thus ruining it for the viewer.

Thanks for giving an excuse to watch the cinematics for the 2837928294th time hahahah i am so glad you enjoyed it! ❤😊
Me at 4:51 am frfr
I still remember the day Ana got added. That was the most insane patch day for a lot of us, ESPECIALLY Support Mains
that and the infiltration short starting by sombra "hacking" the blizcon broadcast were insane points in time for OW
The Mei trailer always cracks me up
*Multiple Humans Die*
Everyone: Well that's sad.
*Tiny Robot Dies*
Everyone: 😱😭

@@Xercodo34 yeah i know
btw you really should watch the origin stories they are short anime that reveals the background of many other heroes

The guy in kiriko is same as in dragons, both hanzo ans genji was trained by kirikos mom

make sense, but I didn't thought about that
I always thought the "We Are Overwatch" cinematic, though brief, was underrated.

Snowball IS in the game... it's Meis ULT...
What Widowmaker said to Tracer is "Adieu, chérie", which can be translated into "farewell, my dear".
I could be wrong but isn't snowball what Mei throws as her ultimate to create Blizzard? The center of her ult def looks like snowball.

I love Kiriko! Just wish they could fix her bugs after so long....
I love whe ppl talk through dialogs about nothing.
So cool! make more of this (^o^)! In Alive short, widow said "Adieu cherie", it's something like goodbye sweetheart/sweety.
oh well I thought she said „at your shame“ or something
it's goodbye but literally it's "to god" so like goodbye but very permanent

You need to watch all the origin story’s
Mercy is Swiss
Will you watch the origin stories too?
watch also original story they are really good
