Absolutely gorgeous car. My dads first car was a 1969 Amazon that he bought 1973 when he got the driving license. The next summer we drive from Sweden to Yugoslavia.
    Epic trip.

Brought back memories this. My father bought the 123 GT when we emigrated to Canada from Spain for $1500. We drove it for more than 30 years, my father babying it all the time, calling it Charly as if it were a family member. He then came home one day and said he'd sold it for $50,000. We hated the thought of losing it.

$50 000? When was that, they are not worth that money even today, or are they?

Aaargh. You guys must have been pretty short of coins, to jettison a car, which your whole family loved enough to bestow a name on him. Or her. (Sorry, I disremember which gender it was. Sadly, that sort of thing is happening to me more and more, of late!) I named my first personal car, a classic VW Bug, "The Blueberry Bitch." Or, it may have been, "The Blueberry Bastard." I didn't care which one it was - I absolutely adored it. My dad never quite did what yours did, to the rest of my family of origin, though I was forced to do it to my ownself, once. May you never again be forced into such a position! I do remember from childhood, however, that the parents of one of my friends came to have severe second thoughts about having sold their cherished baby car, whatever it was. So, they went back through their records. Then they tracked it down - and bought it back. They resumed loving it, and even more so. I hope you can get one like that again.
      Good Luck!

Is that a D Cam you've got? What exhaust is that? I have a B18 that I'm putting into my '48 MG TC. Sounds great, the car looks beautiful. Where in NY are you? I'm on the island.

123gt's had a c-cam installed from the factory, both the c and d-cam have the same duration and thus are very hard to distigunish. D-cams were available on early fuel injected b20's

    Lovely...
So if it was sold in Canada, was it sold under the name "Canadian" ?

I don't know about that. I had a 122S, a 1968 on Vancouver Island and it wasn't a "Canadian". I am not sure how far the volvos manufactured in NB (or was it NS?) made it out west. Its a good question.
