This is one of the reasons why I like science. Biology is not sociology, but having a clear understanding of these topics (especially recognizing it's not as simple as it might look like on the surface) is something that has a huge sociological impact.
Typically I'm not very comfortable around these topics as someone in an environment where I can't be myself, but Crash Course presented this in a way that didn't make me feel awkward or strange. Comprehensive and sound research explained in an accessible and friendly way. I appreciate Dr. Sammy and the Crash Course crew!
It's not even just about the chromosomes, but also about the levels of expression of those chromosomoes. Epigenetics can also play a factor in how the body develops.
“For some, attraction stays steady for life. For others, it’s more fluid.” As an mspec person, THANK YOU, I AM SO TIRED OF HAVING TO REITERATE THIS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I have been trying to explain to people that the the LBGTQIA+ community has existed well before homo sapiens have entered the chat. I am and have always been team SCIENCE!
A really great video that covers a lot of great specifics about everything here. Close-minded folks may be rushing for the dislike button but I have faith that we can keep the comments positive!
This year was my first year donating to Crash Course, and it makes me appreciate the work they do even more! Great video, tons of examples, non-political, and not graphic so I could imagine this getting shown in a young sex-ed class
This is a fantastic video that’s inclusive, accurate, and provides a comprehensive overview of sex, gender, the difference between them and the nuances of such. Excellent for pride month and as a resource to point others to. Thank you!
Excellently handled! Love learning new stuff too, like the info about Sulawesi and five genders, that is VERY cool. And I deeply appreciate the reiteration that we should always be kind
Great video! For people wanting to know more, Scientific American has an article titled "Beyond XX and XY: The Extraordinary Complexity of Sex Determination" which is very interesting.
I am sure these comments will be super normal.
“Imagine others complexly” is such good advice.
THE DOODLEBUGS WERE ROOMATES OMG
We got gay plants and animals before GTA 6

My son is XXY, as are many men (about 1 in 500, 75% undiagnosed). He’s amazing :)

9:46 they were roommates
Oh my god, they were roommates
I've never understood why we try to make things binary like a computer. We're obviously so much more diverse than that

Thank you so much for making this video. We need more quality education about gender, sex, and sexuality.
Putting it so simply and straightforwardly
Thank you guys at Crash Course for making this educational video even though you will probably get haters! We NEED to talk more about this!
its not politics. its science. Educational video
Finally a good video that explains the distinction between all three via a biological perspective!

I saw a great term before: gender is 'biopsychosocial.'
Partly biological, partly psychological, and partly sociological.

this video is like a breath of fresh air
