    You’re the same person you just gave yourself a label that to us your no one different hear you and your beautiful and wonderful! Why would a label make someone decide not to want to follow you that would makes no sense at all. God bless you and life is wonderful, especially without pouring poison down our throats! ❌❌🙏

    Very honest video. Don’t feel down for too long. In low situations I try and look at what I do have, instead of what I haven’t. Life is your journey. Everyone has bad days and good and you will feel more yourself again. Don’t feel like you need to gain acceptance of others. Be yourself and you’ll attract the right people into your life. Chin up. You’ve got this 👊🏻

      @@tomaszruszczyk6384 Yoyo!! It's a good starting point on stoicism - always grounds me at the start of my day, when my brain sometimes otherwise tries to tell me negative stories. I'm guessing most of us relate to that at some point! 😁I am! I'm just waiting on hearing back from someone on Facebook Marketplace to sell me their tripod and I'll be able to finish this video - or maybe I'll just do it anyway and DIY it (but its amazing how hard it is without one) 😂Pretty much how I've gotten through life anyway haha. Have a wicked day - Summer has returned to London & I am so happy about it!! 💫☀

    What's All This Then? So the plot thickens, eh?
    Well shit the bed!
    Sounds like your journey just got a bit more interesting! That took guts girl, and you gave me a sadz, but I refuse to be worried, because you are strong & intelligent, and have come too far to get derailed by some ubiquitous underlying neuropsychological deficit! I am confident that the universe will allow you to embrace this as just another part of you, and keep moving in a positive direction, you did say this was a 'clean slate' right, make it work for you!
    Very Best Wishes

    Same deal here, official diagnosis and yet so many that still think even the diagnosis isn't real either - but honestly a societal lack of embracing and respecting mental health, human nature, etc in America I would argue. Focused on grind and production, many unaware of how much they might be neglecting their own health for sure - sleep for one, diet, fitness - but even the mental health exploration and integration/embracing of a more authentic self.
    Feel like I've heard it all when it comes to social criticisms "get with it" - "open up" - "weird" - "strangest most unusual human I've ever met in my life" - and yet I'm not aware of doing anything unusual or anxious or holding back but rather constantly trying to mask and pretend to be neurotypical. Alcohol or other substance abuse certainly can have a chapter in the life of someone dealing with neurodivergent conditions and a much deeper risk of accumulative stress compared to just social anxiety or phobia due to perhaps neglect or poor socialization, etc. The stress with autism is inherent disconnect from socialization neurotypical brains inherently pick up on and take for granted. Further understanding. masking strategies (a good thing in my opinion, a survival skill), and acceptance is key for sure - an integration with the authentic self within, regardless.

    • @recoverywithme
      @recoverywithme  4 місяці тому +1

      I felt the same at the beginning of finding this out too! I can safely say that it starts to settle quite quickly. The more I learned about adult Autism in women, the more at home and accepting I felt about myself. When you know, you know but as with everything, imposter syndrome will usually kick in and ask annoyong questions like "but am I Autistic enough". When we're used to feeling like a bit of an alien in society, we will always question if we really fit. I am doing a lot of work on self acceptance as we speak, learning that I do belong, I have a right to take space in my own life.. The sensetive parts of me, the ones I rejected for so long, are in fact the best parts of me?! Who knew? Self acceptance and forgiveness are the keys to JOY! This is the start of a very beautiful new world for us, let's take our time exploring it 💛

      Btw. I am also sober for a year. This is when it really started to show how sensitive I am to a lot of stimuli and how much I struggle with social stuff.

    You're clearly on the high functioning spectrum of Autism. A lot of people haven't heard of Asperger's syndrome but it's complicated and misunderstood.

    Hi Mikaela I started watching your videos to help me stay sober and your story is so alike to mine. Now this video is making me question if I am also autistic as I also see my traits in yours. Just wondering how you got diagnosed what was the process ? As I have no idea where to start

    • @recoverywithme
      @recoverywithme  4 місяці тому

      Hey! Thanks for your comment! It can be really overwhelming at first but whatever the outcome, getting to know ourselves better is always a good thing! So there are a few options (depending on your country). Here in the UK there are options to 1. Self refer through your local council autism service. Just google the name of your council (for example Hackney Adult Autism Service). You can self refer directly - or 2. contact your GP and say you would like an autism referral. It’s quicker to just self refer as it ends up with the same service but you can take the longer route through your GP if you want to. They will go through a number of standard questions (and are often not well trained on adult autism so don’t be put off if they’re dismissive). Go prepared with a list of what you want to discuss and don’t worry if you get imposter syndrome - it’s common to feel uncertain about most things at this stage. 3. you can pay privately but I recommend you find an established service with the right qualified people. Many scams out there diagnosing adhd and autism. You can also go through insurance if you have it. The NHS waiting list is around 9 months to a year. Once your referral is accepted by your local autism service (there are a few forms involved and they will ask your caregivers to answer questions on your childhood). They will contact you once they’re ready for your in-person assessments. Again, there is a real lack of training on adult autism, especially in women. Stay strong in your reasons for wanting to explore this and know you have an absolute right to do so ❤️
