This old stuff tbh China has had it longer Alipay WeChat pay you can buy and pay for anything using them also no bank fees but QR codes are old tech even for us in the west we have Venmo, cash app, and PayPal now Zelle that have qrcodes to pay but we prefer the more advanced version of Apple and Google pay to a QR code

@Vdheeraj93 my dear you don't know a damn thing . Demonetization was decoupling pakistan economy fromIndia. It was Pakistani isi which was pumping printed money to india from nepal n other channels. They have a bank in nepal too for the same reason -Himalayan bank. Just check inr currency to plr currency comparision from jan 2017 onwards.

I rarely use ATMs and all the payments are done via UPI.. people criticised Modi for this initiative.. but during Corona time these digital payments reduced spread of covid virus because no physical exchange of money was involved…
Stopped carrying my wallet. The cell phone is good enough. Moreover the vendors are now not concerned about collecting and counting money. So they are already attending to the next customer as they can hear the payment confirmation.

Its almost more than a year when I have visited ATM machine to take cash. From doing mobile recharge, paying electricity bill, paying rent to landlord, buying vegetables, buying grocery or Metro recharge all is digital.

Not to sound arrogant here, but India always develop technology for the poorest. From developing low cost generic drugs to using EV for developing tuktuks rather than Tesla, India's choice for technological improvement comes from it's need to develop it's people who are basically poor by all global standards. It just shows how much more impact technology have for the poor rather than the rich. Providing an user friendly fintech product to an illiterate fruit credit has far more impact in a society than selling a platinum credit card to a millionaire.
I just turned 18 and got PAN card online and then Bank account online. It's great for introverts like me 😂 no bank visit.

U can open it on ur phone in just 5 min ! With ur quick KYC ! With ur addhar card ! Which is having ur all 5 thumbprint data + ur retina scan ! So easy to do KYC ! We have Digilock app which carry our all documents on digitally which become a medium to authorize to see ur real person oR not its so cool ! India came so ahead in Fin tech and IOT !

and Till now, I never had to visit my bank for anything. every financial facilities can be availed by app itself.
On paytm, you can even set up your fingerprint instead of passcode for better security.

UPI is such a boon! It's been so many days since I touched cash as I used UPI everywhere. Now, even you can do UPI transactions even using your credit cards, but for now it is limited to only RuPay cards...

I remember the day's when bank are crowded for money withdrawal and ATM are long queue for withdrawal. My parents had to go bank for sending semester fee and now without spending energy, time and patrol it can be done. Great invention by Indian government

Every bank account is linked with PAN card. It means every business has to pay the tax correctly for the money received through the account, at least. You can check the graph of GST amount.
