My heart was in my throat at that decision. I really didn't want to reload, so I thought long and hard, looking at the interactions I had with Shadowheart throughout the game. I knew she didn't handle people pushing her very well and questioning all things Shar, and I noticed the doubt creeping into her conversations with me. I put my trust in Larian just as much as I put it in Shadowheart because I know that other developers might be more willing to treat companions as things to control and tell what to do, but I could tell Larian wanted these characters to seem like actual people who can act on their own motivations and beliefs and that trust paid off.
Shadowheart's not just freeing Aylin, she's choosing herself as well, accepting her truth even though it's painful. Rejecting the sunk-cost fallacy sucks, but it's the only way she can escape a situation where the best she can aspire to is numbness without the possibility of growth.
Oh wow, I didn't know it ended like that. My last session with my brother ended right after this scene, and Shadowheart seemed like she was fully devoted to Shar. She rejected my criticisms, and being unwilling to let her kill the Nightsong, I decided to fight her and free the Nightsong ourselves.
@@zoddmark5873It was also a long thought out decision for me, but we weren't really having a lot of conversation with Shadowheart since she's one of the characters that we leave in camp.
when you're the daughter and sword of Selune the moonmaiden, the lady of silver the light in the darkest of night, you have the right to be a bit "extra"
After witnessing so much evil, pain and suffering throughout the first 2 acts we finally have seen divine good manifest, a ray of hope breaking through the endless shadows.
Its what makes this moment so good, as up to this point you have been trudging through Illithids, Devils, Undead, Gnolls, all the evils of the setting, being constantly harried and downtrodden through it all, but then you reach this moment and for the first time you see clear, unrepentant Good embodied in the form of a angel. And now you are no longer at the mercy of those evils, they are at the mercy of *you*
I personally have a soft spot for when you make it to the top of the absolute with your boy Biggie B, and Brain Mommy conjures Custom-Made Countermeasures for your class/subclass while calling each of the origin characters semi-respectful, but deeply analytical nicknames. "*Murder Incarnate*" Never Doesn't go hard AF
@@Mrsadgirl99 the singing is very cool and Raphael is the Harder enemy. But the entrance of Myrkul is so badass. His speech he delivers while rising is so epic.
Selune showing shes the only deity in the pantheon that cares about actually solving the problem enough to directly help out And she does it without threats, manipulation, or asking people to blow themselves up
Thank you so much for the full cinematic. This is probably the most inspirational moment in the game for me. Just dealing with darkness for dozens of hours, and then seeing it clear, and Jaheira looks at the blades, and then teaming with everyone to defeat Moonrise… peak RPG moment for me.
Yeah, that look over her shoulder, like maybe... maybe she's NOT too old for this shit, in fact. I mean, she's always been too old for this shit, she was probably born that way, but you know what I mean :P
One of the best moments in the game. My first playthrough was a Paladin that stuck with his oath and only tried to do good. So freeing an Angel from eternal imprisonment only to rewarded with this song and the scene that follows with it was the best thing ever.
I love the bit where Jaheira looks over to her blades and is ready to pick them up again (though this clip is bugged as she isn’t meant to be wearing them already) after she had previously said to your character that she was old and tired and didn’t want to keep fighting. Seeing an Angel crossing the shadowed sky and knowing that meant you still fought the good fight meant that she got a sliver of hope back.
One of the most memorable scenes in the game for me. So much emotion. Chills every time i hear it. Thanks to Borislav and everyone who helped make this.
Beautiful piece! The whole cut scene is breathtaking, heart stopping in its grandiose. On par with Raphael opera part. ❤ It's so worth it to let SH to save Aylin just to see it.
What made this moment so special for me, was that me and my buddy were playing the first time, and had to fight Baltazar right infront of the nightsong. We were almost defeted, we pushed through only because of sheer luck and my Tav being a tanky fighter. And then we, exhausted, see THIS. It felt bloody amazing.
Our lady of silver hear me, Mother of so called Nightsons, The Nightsong is no more Three lines which totally hyped me for the entire ending of second act, great work
I remember thinking "wow" with the graphic of the angel spreading her wings and turning- in combination with this song. A beautiful moment that'll remain in my memory for long.
Simply love this song, I always liked to imagine that this is Dame Aylin and Selune singing in response. It is very sensitive like a lullaby a mother would sing to her child, minus the drums that I think represent Aylin gathering her strength and will to fight.
I have never felt more motivated to throw my responsibilities away into this game. They should be sending you an offer letter for this masterpiece you’ve assembled, just the music alone is bone chilling
In another game, the Act 2 would've been 100% satisfying just by itself with this as a finale. The music kicking in as you enter the Shadowfall, unleashing a divine being and watching it clear away the literal darkness, before going for a last showdown with the big bad. You could make an entire campaign just leading up to this moment.
One of the most cinematic moments in any RPG game EVER! Simply one of the finest 'fuck, yeah!' moments I've ever seen in any game. The bar for games has been raised so high with this masterpiece that it will be several years before any other game overtakes it.
Her punching the ground and regaining her full power was one of my favorite monents in the whole game. Probably my favorite cutscene in the game. Only paralleled in the amount of hype by some of the 1v1 fights I put my Durge in against Orin, Gortash, Cazador, and Raphael. (With heavy buffs to make him about equal to them).
Thank you! This is one of my #1 songs in the whole game (you know the second one; it's a certain devilish performance). I just love this moment and the whole sequence in Shadowfells so much!
Great music for one of the most epic moments in the game. I shiver every time I listen to it! So happy to finally be able to listen to this song in full! BG3's music is so beautiful! ❤I can't get enough of it! I hope Borislav Slavov gets the recognition he deserves for this masterpiece
Amazing stuff. Loved this sequence and the score is incredible. I did just get a laugh out of the video - I noticed Jaheira has 2 swords on her back already when she glances back at her 2 swords on the table.
Just so moving, i get goosebumps every time. I love the score for this game . THE OST IS AMAZING should of won. But i understand final fantasy did great as well. but man I LOVE THIS!!!
I've never heard of her race before so I was so surprised to see her grow wings, I kept saying OMG she's and angel or a God. God dam it i love this game❤❤❤❤❤
i cant say i was and am a fan of shadowheart story and nightsong. However, when this song and the visuals came i was speechless and had tears. incredible job ser, hats off to you!
I'm just gonna echo what everyone is saying and say this moment touched my heart more than any moment in a video game. The extended track is perfectly hopeful and triumphant
That moment in my first replay I was like: General Thorm, there is some bad@$$ divine retribution flying fast your way , and you are no longer immortal...
I loved the portrayal of Nightsong and obviously, your music played a big part in it! I love every single one of your soundtracks, but this one has to be one of my personal favorites. Keep it up!
I would give any of my limbs for an extended album cut which includes all the tracks that didn't make the OST and full extended versions of pieces like this one and Raphael's Final Act.
This part was really intense when Aylin spread her wings my heart skipped a beat it was amazing. Btw fun fact Aylin is a Turkish name means that light that belongs to moon
this cutscene gives me goosebumps no matter how often i watch it, hands down one of the most epic moments in the game - lowkey wish we could see it in the cinematic style of the intro cutscene
First time I heard this piece of music, I cried a little. I still have my jaw lock up when I hear it, almost like every cell of my body is paying respects to the divine frequency in the air. Utterly Mystical and Magical.
I had a need to replay act 2 entire just because of the experience this scene gave me. My heart overflows and I shed a tear every time. There’s just something about it…
This is a wonderful musical piece! It's so emotional and inspirational that I actually shed a tear in delight, especially when I read the comments. Very good work!
Choosing to trust Shadowheart and watching her set Aylin free is my favorite moment of any game I've ever played.

You put it so well. This moment, scene and music will stay etched in my head as top 5 most incredible moments for me.
Absolutely true
BRO ive literally speedran to this part of the game and took a time loss here just for the super dope music and cutscenes
I fully agree, and the cut scene was the best i've ever seen in all the games i played...
Same here..just an amazing moment
“I am resplendent”
Now, normally I would call that dramatic, but she’s an angel/demigod who was just restored to full strength. That’s probably fair.
Yeah. It's been a century, she's allowed to be a bit extra. :P
when you're the daughter and sword of Selune the moonmaiden, the lady of silver the light in the darkest of night, you have the right to be a bit "extra"
Well, she's literally beaming with light. Us mortals can only say that figuratively. 😂
After witnessing so much evil, pain and suffering throughout the first 2 acts we finally have seen divine good manifest, a ray of hope breaking through the endless shadows.
Yes, after finally allowing shadowheart to fulfill their destiny, thrust the spear through nightsong and become the champion of shar!
It's proof you can restore good things to this shadow-cursed place, not just destroy bad things.
So sayeth the wise Alandou.

A moment of Divinity.
A turning point in the story.
Now we take the fight to them.
@SordidusFellatioHow much you get for that ? I just killed him with my army of elementals lol.
