David was visiting Victoria Barracks yesterday where the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards and their Corps of Drums were preparing to step-off for Windsor Castle.
Victoria Barracks....no mistaking the close proximity of Heathrow......Guards at their very best....as we all expect. No comparison anywhere, and that’s a fact.
Been having to do some soul searching about remaining on UA-cam as despite the bands paying royalties for the music we keep getting copyright claims for the music the they play
Thanks for posting from a different perspective. Enjoyed very much. Questions for some kind person. Why do no guards at the gate sometimes salute, and on other occasions not? Why do two guards run from the rear to the flank the officer in charge ? Thanks in anticipation. Regards from Cornwall
They salute when it is an officer entering or leaving and also when the Guard march in or out of the barracks. The two soldiers, normally NCO's, who double forward are the Captains Escort,
At time 1:00 who was that individual stood at the back of the white fleet van…yellow duster in hand manically trying to sort the brass buckle on his belt? He looked like he had already fucked up. Scroate.
I was in Windsor yesterday and Victoria Barracks is currently home of the Coldstream Guards, were these guys visiting or is it an old video just uploaded.
It is still the home of the Coldstream Guards, When the Guard is drawn from another Regiment they are bussed to Victoria Barracks and step-off from there.
@@ChangingGuard Well I never. I have passed the Barracks 100's of times and look up to see who is stationed there. Then when they do the Changing of the Guard ceremony I naturally assumed it were the incumbents. Combermere if I recall have the Welsh Guards holed up at the moment. Thanks for the info, I will let the kids know when I am next in Windsor, which will be in a couple of weeks.
@@kbeesmot9928 Our pleasure, and yes the Welsh Guards are the current occupants of Combermere Barracks but they currently on rotation and not doing Public Duties
@@ChangingGuard When the wife was pregnant, I used to park up in Madera Walk to pick her up from work and I think it may have been the Irish Guards at the time and I could hear the band practicing. Thank you and the Regiments for the parades and more importantly keeping us all safe.
The WO is the senior NCO. The NCO dressing the ranks is normally either a sergeant or lance sergeant. ( A Lance sergeant in the guards is the equivalent of a corporal in other regiments)
Generally in the Brigade of Guards the bugle is only used to sound duty calls. Bugle marches remain the preserve of the Rifles and the Royal Irish Regiment. All the best, Ian
any other drummers out there, have a look at the two middle drummers on the front row are. anyone else see that they are not playing the settings. they both look a little awkward to me.
The Windsor Castle Guard steps off from Victoria Barracks for the march to the Castle. When the Guard is being provided by a different Regiment they are bussed to Victoria Barracks
No, they wear what are called ammunition boots that have studded soles which amplifies the sound and their drill instills discipline which, although that may seem old fashioned to some, is essential in any infantry unit.
Judging by your profile picture john smith i would much rather see them soldier's marching through our streets than a bunch of silly dressed men on bikes hogging the road that think they own it
Excellent, they are always well dressed, look good, wonderful!
Thank you for your steadfast service in these distressing times!
God bless!
Thank you very much!
Loved this video, so proud of all our armed forces. Thank you for posting.

That was great 👍thanks 😊
As a Guardsman from the 70's/80's I find the arms drill really strange.. especially the Stand Easy..
I'm from California, what a wonderful site and tradition to watch
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment
Really enjoyed this. Thank you.
Thanks
Those bearskins do make them look a bit scary if you ask me. But they are the best .
That was the idea of them, which is why Napoleon equipped his guards with them. Our Guards got them as a battle honour after Waterloo.
Glad you are back!

Fantastic video
Simply amazing. 😊
Wonderful love it ❤❤❤❤
as precise behind the scenes as on the march
Simply perfection always look immaculate💂💂💂💂X
Nice video, beautiful to watch thanks for sharing

They do look v smart
Wow.

@@ChangingGuard Thank You, nice to know the drill.
@@ChangingGuard why don't they March out in that position?

Amazing video man I wish I can go to Windsor man but I have a question what is the difference between warrant officer and dressing officer

whats with the 2 guys that came running in and took their place at the front of the guards please ?
They are the escort for the Captain of the Guard
Thank you 😁
Do the Corps of Drums ever play "Bugle marches" or is it only ever "Fife marches"?

@@bugler75 Bugle Marches are also superbly played by the Bands of HM Royal Marines.

They look like trainees who cannot march and play the side drum at the same time.
They do play?
Are most of these guards between the ages of 18-22?
Age is just a number, these are highly trained infantry soldiers, many who have recently been on operations overseas
1:22 or as I like to call him lone drummer

if it's the first time that you've seen it, then I'm sure it does.

That really tall guy was just standing around as if his height is a normal height
Soon to be gone and no more after separation
I saw a Police Officer.
WOW!
Thanks.
cop is first
You will find that on any occasion when the armed forces march along normal roads.
Whats the deal with the 2 REME lads running to catch up to the front ? Are they runners ? ........im ex REME really enjoyed drill wierdly 🤣🤣🤣🤣
They are acting as the Escort to the Captain of the Guard. They march out of the barracks at the rear of the column then double forward.
Ttt
It must hurt their feet with all that silly foot stamping.

Can’t be a real band with no bagpipes.

Shut up.
And this would be based on your considerable expertise on the subject would it?
