A few years ago I repented to God then begged for help, "I was until then an Atheist." I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed.", and what I felt from Jesus when I held him was unlike anything I've ever felt before - A lifetime of Love every second - It brought me to sobbing and it changed my life, forever. I've had other experiences since, "Several witnessed", one was seeing a bright orb of light pass across my face in the dark, hours before a major surgery the second I gave up in my heart. Know that God and Jesus ARE real and that they Love us deeply. Let go of your hatred and Imagine yourself holding the people who've hurt you. Tell them you Love them. Always have hope, I believe that prayer, following God's laws & Love is the answer, and through that, Truly becoming humble, merciful, welcoming, giving, gentle, respectful and forgiving, To All.
I have one of these, it was worth every penny. Perfect bedside emulation system, does up to Dreamcast games (almost) perfectly. Great job on this one, Stez! For $50 approx. you scored well.
Yea... been saying "Solid" when I try to repair things. What got me curious is at 12:24 it shows a wonky zero resistor touching 2 pads at the same time.
Keep the videos coming, especially those deep dive troubleshooting ones as frustrating as they can be. I’m a beginner in the field and have learned more from your videos than school and my job. You’re doing awesome👍🏻
I am not techie and I don't fix anything but I tune in to your videos everyday after work like a kid on saturday morning cartoons! Very entertaining and I'm fascinated with your skill. If you sell the things you fix I would like to know where to find it!
@12:24 when you turn the board there is a 0 Ohm resistor crocked over what looks like a spot for a transistor. I that from factory because it doesn't look like it flew there from the heat gun (The solder is to "solid"). If it is factory it just looks super weird
Judging by the lack of solder it's a safe bet it started to glitch out and someone decided to start hamfisting the HDMI cord until it finally snapped what little connection it had to the board. Good call and good repair!
That beat was pretty dang wikked!!! And you are actually REALLY GOOD and puttin all the names in and making it work (for the most part) - the ONLY issue I have EVER noticed with ANY of your rhymes is that THIS ONE'S vocals were just a little too quiet for all that was going on in the track, but with the lyrics on screen it's easy to follow - but I have to say you really do have some talent!!! :D
Hi Steve, love the channel. In the video you said you were going to hold the HDMI port to the board with pliers. You didn't need to do it, but I have a suggestions if you ever do need to use that option. If you have one take an alligator clip and add some heat shrink to the teeth. It will hold the part down without damaging anything.
I was talking to my screen the whole time, as if you could hear me...but I was saying not to put the wire underneath like a trace. That, and the big dollop of solder mask you put under there lifts the HDMI port up and doesn't allow the pins to sit flush with the board. It's so much easier to put the port on the board first, THEN run a bodge wire on top. Of course I'm commenting before I've watched the whole video 😆 So now I get to find out what happens in the exiting conclusion! Love your stuff. I know how difficult this stuff is, although I haven't done nearly as much tiny SMD stuff as you have.
You see Steve, it's like this: I know that you know that i click the "thumbs-up-button" before even watching the new video, which itself is an event that doesn't occur often enough. So i also happen to know, that you're thinking about doing more videos which is an idea that i wanted to greatly compliment you on. Thanks for the vids. And Happy Birthday - you're now a fulltime creator. See you in tomorrows video. thankfully - me.
Stupid torn off pad. Had fun as always watching you bring back to life another thing. And I've come to learn to have patience with waiting for tech to come to life. Im a fan of what Alton Brown said in his show Good Eats. "Your patience will be rewarded." So true.
Quality craftsmanship _does_ exist in China, but it comes down to the individual taking pride in their work, as culturally it's shortcuts and facades that's rewarded. By the point of mass-production that something like this represents, forget it. If it's not contract work for a foreign company that's doing their own QC, it's pure dice-roll, with not the best odds.
Your videos are so relatable due to the very familiar oversights. Your reaction to finding that loose trace causing the 'Jeffs' is comic genius. PS if you're stuck for a grip, add an elastic band to some pliers.
Good fix, having just replaced a micro USB port on a free Bluetooth speaker, I really hate these tiny connectors, especially as not having a hot air system or microscope. I used a Dremel to make a tiny bit for my soldering iron, but still struggled with solder bridges, but got there in the end 😂
Hey Steve, great video as usual. This little thingy runs EmuELEC I think (a Linux Dist.) - it's likely why it takes some time to boot. Patience indeed :). Stay awesome!

I absolutely love watching your videos and how calm you are when you do things and when you took it apart and noticed the part stuck to the back of it, you just looked with a "sigh" look and still carried on fixing it. I think "Stupid" at the end for that game was definitely appropriate :D
Is it just me, or do portions of the sample music on the rap sound like the old 'Protect and survive' public information films? Awesome video as always Steve. Keep up the good work.
Great fix. A suggestion, when drag soldering use the much larger tip (like at 10:01, you need to overlap at least two pins to reduce the chance of shorts) with a ton of flux and as light a pressure as possible. Yes, the stray pad didn't help. Some pre-tinning of the connector pins beforehand (looks as though that was never done in production) and straighten the connector before fitting to avoid stress (personal, physical and viewer).
What video did you watch? At various times throughout the video, around 12:20 or so especially, you see he's dislodged components. You can see a 0 ohm resistor that's rotated and barely on its pads, for example. This was a messy video. Don't call bad fixes great.
@@Those_Weirdos I tend not to be so ruthless, as I'm sure others will be. The 0 Ohm resistor appears to be a jumper across two pads of what may have originally been a transistor or similar, and may have been installed that way during manufacture
am sure its been said but to me any way your so genuine the good with the bad and this community are great im learning lots so interesting thanks for doing what you do we sure are a throw away society amazing what can be fixed
I'm betting it came from the factory properly soldered, but the problem was that they had that board made for a slightly different HDMI port. One with the pads slightly offset. It's close enough, but the solder over all wasn't making enough of a mechanical connection, so it just ripped off the pads. It's amazing that only one pad came up off the board. Also, using solder mask on both sides of the wire to keep it in place is something I'll have to keep in mind. Silly simple idea, but I've just never though of doing that before.
Definitely got that solder mask trick from Northridge Fix ;) Going to guess that unleaded solder didn't help any with the pins all coming loose. Bad QA for low quality products... seen it a million times.
A friend of mine showed me a trick which has sorta revolutionized how I do port replacements. Basically what you can do is get a tiny drill (I payed like 5£ for 10 of them - mine are 0.5mm) and use a small dremel/drilling machine to drill a tiny hole in the edger of the "mounting feet" or whatever the correct English translation is. The put a hard piece of steel wire the same thickness as the drill trough the holes when it's mounted on the board. When it's soldered the small piece of wire now keeps everything secured - even if someone rips fairly hard at the port. Have yet to see a port which has been fitted in this way fail.
I have my wonderful Korg Wavestation Sr with a faulty display but no idea how to get it fixed. Can you point me in any direction of someone who could do a repair/replace job? paid obviously, not look for a freebie, just want it fixed! Thanks in advance, love your videos man. good stuff!
Steve, I will try again to ask you. Can you please share the links for where you bought the flux, solder, solder wick, jump wires and the aluminum tape you are using. Please add the wire thickness and tape width. Thank you.
