Andrew McMahon is honestly one of the best performers live. My friend and I missed the first train to LA and boarded the wrong one from Orange. We went the opposite direction. We ended in the middle of nowhere. My friend got someone to pick us up and drop us somewhere more known. We took a cab from there to the El Rey theatre and it was already 820. we thought we missed a ton of the show but when we were running to the entrance the guard told us to hurry up cuz he just going on right now. We ran from the side of the stage to the front while he was opening with this song. All those life plot twists, definitely worth it for Andrew McMahon.
I met him in 2011. He is everything you could hope he would be - kind, sincere, and attentive. Andrew doesn't get anywhere near the recognition he deserves as a musician. His live performance is freaking amazing.

Not really difficult, the arpeggio part is B, D#, F# in that order of notes, with the left hand Octaves of E flat, then E, E flat, F#. Chorus is B, F# Minor, G# Minor, E# Major, E Major, C# Minor the little riff thing between "totally happy" are the notes C#, D#, E#, D#, C#. Hope that helps.
also, there's a 21 and invincible live version with jack's mannequin where he changes up the words and says 'and we just got married.' the crowd goes wild.

SOCO isn't better than Jack's Mannequin, they're both freakin awesome and unique in their own way, and you can just tell from his lyrics that Andrew has matured as a person/songwriter since his SoCo days. Soco has more of a punk rock attitude, jack's mannequin has a lighter, more positive touch, but still freakin awesome! I love them both. My favorite song by SoCo is Me and the Moon, and from JM I really enjoy listening to Crashing all the time, and The Mixed Tape;]
some of the songs were, lyrically at least. the music wasn't as plaintive i'd say, and that is definitely one feature of andrew's songwriting i like the most. but you have to admit alot of SoCo songs were either not that great from the beginning or dumbed down. Look at how much they messed up Punk rock princess from the original. But he is still my favorite songwriter no matter what band he is in. i wish i could write songs like him:)
I still come back here and it's 2025. It's one of the songs that will always resonate with me.
