This is the cutest project ever. The bamboo poles are MUCH sturdier than anything I"ve ever seen around here. I'd love to make it for my grand daughter as a reading/play area. She would love it. xoxoxo

That is so adorable! I'd put some tiny fairy lights in once the plants have covered it. I can't wait to see what else you put in there - a jumping fountain? A track for toy cars or trains? Maybe when he's older you could put in a slide with the plants growing up trellises on the sides, and a kid-sized raised bed for him to plant his own seeds and plants! A tire swing? So many fun options!

There’s a really amazing episode of Monty Don’s “Small spaces, Big Dreams” that this reminds me off. A father built a garden specifically for his autistic child. He focused on the senses so he clustered fragrant plants and plants with fun textures together with tall grasses for sound. I think he has chimes and a small water element as well.
It was a very immersive garden and his son loved it. A reprieve from the house and a safe play to explore his senses. Smelling the jasmine and lavender and rubbing his fingers on lamb’s ear and serrated leaves.
That would a really cool thing to incorporate into Benjamin’s garden.

One of the most vivid childhood memories I have from toddlerhood is squirming under our fence through a patch of lemon thyme! I remember how the scent bloomed all over me as I crushed leaves on my way under.

This is fun! Maybe you could do a tunnel system too with plants covering it. Can’t wait to see what other fun kid and grown up garden spaces you make. Maybe a slide somewhere incorporated into the ground or a zip line or hidden hammocks. A big outdoor cushion inside the teepee for lounging with Russell.
Amazing easy project this teepee. If you can’t interact with your garden it’s not as fun. Thank you

Hunh? I think the soil there looks as good as it does because they used to have the pond there. Everywhere else she digs, she pulls out chalky, alkaline soil she has to amend heavily. They asked to put down gravel in front of the hayracks (on her neighbor's property, lol) because the ground was pretty scrubby looking.

We cut down a ton of bamboo last year that was invading our yard from outside of our fence and it's happening again. Hubby just happen to keep all the bamboo (all of it fit in a 5 gallon bucket and about an inch wide each and 6 to 8 feet tall) and had them drying out in our screened in patio. We talked about what we could do with them and this is a great idea! I've always wanted to do this but for some reason the idea never came up when talking about the bamboo we have. Thank you!!! My niece (2) and nephew (7) will be moving in with us with their mom while their dad is deployed sometime in the summer and I think the kids will love this!

Dia dhuit (Hello in Irish). Well I am officially addicted, since I discovered Garden Answer 3 months ago I am now caught up on every video ( I know that is a lot but you are more entraining than TV these days). I live in the south west coast of Ireland and recently I was searching for inspiration for my 1 acre garden which is pretty much nothing but lawn and boring beds. For the last 10 years I have listened to my mam, my sister and anyone you meet in the garden centre about what I should grow - I took their advice every time & I spent an absolute fortune!! But I was never happy with the result even after 10 years of growth the wrong plants/shrubs/trees etc are not marrying well. Some look great while the others are just killers!. I was amazed to find while you are zone 5 and I am zone 8/9 we can grow a lot of the same things. One big thing I learned from you is zoning, you refer to it a lot in every video and we don't use zones in Ireland at all, so anything you pick up in the garden centre is hit or miss, it does not tell you if it is annual or perennial so it's guess work most of the time and I usually have to wait to see if it survives the winter (max -5) to know if it is a perennial. What I LOVE is we grow a lot of the same plants, so you (and the hubby sometimes) are an inspiration. In fact last week I started "My Irish Garden Answer" and just so you know my sisters & mam think I am gone mad....... I planted 4 Heuchera purple palace together ( you mention a lot of different varieties but that is the only one you will see in an Irish garden centre) - I have loads of them dotted singly around the place but I went for mass planting like you do, and already I love it. One question: the fact you bought a property already zoned into different areas do you think if ye did not buy a place already zoned you would have done a completely different landscape? I would love different rooms in my garden that is where I am struggling, I bought flat land and I don't see the vision you have?? Right rant over back to a question you asked in an earlier post I do love the long videos, they're very entertaining, but then again when doing a search for a certain plant/topic the timeline would be great!
Slán go fóill (goodbye for now).
