    My volunteer company had an elliptical long nose like Gibraltars, You could dock a yacht easier than make a tight turn with that thing. Loved it though. When they retired it, a town somewhere in south Jersey picked it up. Saw it in a parade video. And another Hahn. I didn't know there were that many around still. Always great trucks.

    When it comes to tanker trucks at a fire, do they go to fill up at a designated fill site,or do they just pick a random hydrant?

    • @jacobhinsdale7274
      @jacobhinsdale7274 5 років тому +2

      Darrell Wood in a lot of areas the use of tankers is because they’re are no hydrants in the area. so we designate a water supply site and that’s where they’ll go ponds, creeks, lakes. we will assign an engine crew to each site to pump and fill tankers to make the operation go faster and the tankers shuttle water between the site and the scene

      If you're talking about the 2nd apparatus in the video with the painted flag on front and the real flag on the rear, that was my departments engine in NY before they bought it. That's why the blue light is there. They probably haven't gotten around to changing it. i dont know the laws out there but i know in NY volunteer firefighters cant use red on their personal vehicles but its "allowable" on the rear of the vehicle. Maybe this is similar.

      Fire is much further back. What you are seeing is a tanker task force. Basically, there are zero fire hydrants where the fire is, so these tankers are shuttling water from a fill site to the fire scene. The ones you see waiting are waiting to fill and or drop off.
