    I have owned an infinity for about two weeks now having had many iwata and badgers for years and having just finished a portrait with it I have to say i am sold it's hands down the best fine detail brush I have ever used. So much so that my iwata eclipse has been relegated to just using for final varnishing coats now. And I will most likely just sell the neo.

    I know this is an old review, but I've got to say, SprayGunner has treated me WONDERFULLY. even years back as a true newbie with what they must have thought were stupid questions. they were friendly and helpful. they talked me out of cheap junk. and into a patriot 105 and Sotar. fast forward to this week, and I called them back to order my Harder and Steenbeck. Why? because they were the guys that helped me all along my learning curve. when I finally decided to drop what I consider to be serious money. Frankly, they earned my business.
    I'm super excited for it to arrive this friday........

    hands down best first airbrush! I started with a badger single action then dual action. Finally wanted something better got a badger renegade krome then ended with the infinity cr plus... the nozzle on the badger krome is so small it drove me nuts!.
    On the infinity cr plus all the parts are large and super easy to assemble like legos. The trigger locks into place with the needle chuck perfectly lined up so you wont bend the needle installing, the nozzle is large so you don't need a magnifying glass and tweezers to install. Color cup unscrews so you can get a q-tip in to clean it. Its just all well thought out and super easy to use. I wish I never wasted money on anything else.

    I'm glad someone liked the infinity. I threw mine away. It was hard to source parts for when things wore out and had pretty much no benefits over my HP-C plus to make it worth the hassle. But, my side business is painting lures and I put more time on my brush in a week than most mini painters will in a year, so it may be fine for a lighter user.

    • @atsylor5549

      You threw away a $250 airbrush. You should of sold it. There’s plenty of people who would of bought it if all it needed was a part

    • @commiecowboy3386
      @commiecowboy3386 3 роки тому +2

      @@atsylor5549 I guess to me, since it was more than just a part issue that made me not use it and I felt it worked poorly, it would be like giving away/selling a car that I know will break down if you try to take it around the corner and fixing it costs more than its worth. I would class myself as a "semi-professional" user since I have a side business selling hand made/painted lures, so $250 for a tool that ended up not being what I was hoping is just a failed minor investment. Not something I'm happy about, but its certainly not going to destroy my business.
      But no. It wasn't "just" a part. It was a consistent trigger failure that was difficult to get fixed when it did occur. It was also the fact that it has atomization issues which means it is incredibly finicky about paint which for someone trying to sell a product with any kind of volume, is a hassel not worth wasting time on when brushes like the Iwata hp-c plus is very close in price, gives you the same real benefits outside of hotswapping needles (which I personally believe is more of a crutch than legitimate need, and is likely why it has atomization issues since its being designed to take so many needles. It had to compromise somewhere) and you can quite literally spray most paints straight from the bottle/pot with just some air pressure change in most situations with the Iwata. But like I said: I'm glad someone liked it because it is an interesting brush and I like the idea and hope it gets refined more, it just doesn't work for a user like myself. For me, it just worked out better/more reliably to just have the Iwata hp-c plus, and a micron for the very very few times a finer needle is truly needed. But to each their own.

    You are so right about the cheap air brushes, I had the iwata neo and the thread on the nozzle broke so easily (It was ridiculously easy) and replacing it and dealing with shit O rings makes it way less of a budget friendly option and maintenance gets harder the cheaper you go on top of it. The more expensive brushes aren’t going to necessarily perform massively different in terms of spraying but man the difference in maintenance and cleaning is where the major differences come.

    Buy far the best review because the tips are so hard to work with on the other airbrushes. I started with a Badger and never broke it but I have broken a few tips on a cheap Master. It's almost impossible to put it back together with the small treads and tiny wrench. Looking forward to the Infinity. Spraygunner lists parts for it.

    i agree with almost everything you say in the review. The Key is the nozzle (no wrench needed!) and how easy to clean this airbrushes are.
    BUT... i wouldnt recomend it to beginners... especially for the price... also it could be problematic for a beginner if he buys the one with the 0,15 nozzle. (a beginner should start with the 0,2 and 0,4 needle)...
    For a beginner i would definitely recomend the Evolution (there is also a chome CR Plus version). Its not as expensive and to be sincere... i dont find too much of a difference beside the look... (i own 2 Evolutions and one Infinity CR Plus).. i have the Evos with 0,4mm and 0,2mm needles, the Infinity with 0,15mm...

    • @robv.johnson6360

      That's an excellent point. I wasn't aware of the evolution. Does it also have the ability lock in certain air flow amounts like the Infinity? I think that also really helps beginners but the price point is definitely a big drawback for beginners though it's still cheaper than most Iwatas that do the same thing.
      I'll try and do more research for future videos. Thanks for your insight!

    The Infinity Cr Plus is definitely a wonderful airbrush. Best thing about it is that I can strip it down entirely in less than 30 seconds for cleaning as well as changing the needle/nozzle and paint cups to suit my need of the moment. That being said... it is rather unfair to compare the Infinity to the Revolution... :P

    • @robv.johnson6360
      @robv.johnson6360  3 роки тому +1

      I probably should have been more clear this wasn't really intended to be comparing the two on even plains as they are two different price points. I was simply showing the difference between the CR Plus and other "beginner airbrushes" for how they operate. For instance the NEO is the cheapest beginner airbrush but it still has the wrench system for taking off the nozzle and therefore it's not a good beginner airbrush as you're very likely to break it.
      Sorry for any confusion, it's hard to keep things concise but also put in enough disclaimers that people don't complain. I totally agree with you about the revolution but it was the only other airbrush I own to even show the difference! ^^

    I just received the Harder and Steenbeck Infinity Cult of Paint airbrush. The air head was screwed in EXTREMELY tight and had to be removed with a pair of pliers. Thus badly marring the finish. AND it has to be screwed back in EXTREMELY tight or air will leak through the nozzle o ring backflowing into the paint cup. I'm guessing you don't have to do this with the CR-Plus. The other is, if you're getting this for doing miniatures -- how I use it -- then for not much more money you can get an extra 0.4mm nozzle and needle so you can switch it out. You'll want a bigger size for priming and doing zenithal highlights etc. I do agree though that clogging and drying on the needle is more of a problem with a smaller nozzle etc however that isn't a problem in particular of an infinity. I also had a bit of trouble with drying on the tip but I just increased my air pressure and added a little more reducer and and I was fine. I did do a video on how to clean out clogs but I think I should do another as I've updated my technique and I no longer use any lacquer thinner at all, just isopropyl alcohol.

    @fil-am0078 2 роки тому

    I don't know how active this trend is but i got some questions. I thought that the infinity was a bit more for advance users, yet you state that its a beginner airbrush. What do you consider is an advance or pro airbrush? What does your brother use? I am currently in the market and can't make my mind up between the infinity and chameleon and the iwate hp-cs. What are your experience between the three, if any? Recommendation between them or anyone that you may have used or prefer? Lastly compressor, I haven't even started looking at them yet. lol

    • @robv.johnson6360
      @robv.johnson6360  2 роки тому

      So I've used a variety of airbrushes both of my brother's and my own. The reason I really liked the infinity and chameleon over other airbrushes for beginners is because:
      1. You don't need a wrench to remove the nozzle. It seems like most if not all people who use airbrushes that require wrenches break their very expensive and delicate nozzles at some point.
      2. Because it has a clicking gauge on the back so even if you don't have good control you can use it so that it will give you good control.
      3. Because for the quality of what you're getting it's cheaper than other airbrushes.
      4. It comes with 2-3 nozzle sizes so it saves you money so you can have one for priming / basing and the other for detail work.
      I started out with a cheaper Iwata and I've used my brother's Iwata. I more recently bought an Iwata HP-TH that I love which is a great work horse airbrush for priming/zenithal but also because it has a single action trigger for those long airbrushing sessions and an adaptor that lets you base in a fan like spray.
      In the end it comes down to the person but I wish I'd started with HnS Infinity or Chameleon had they existed at the time.
      For compressors, I'd buy something used or get a reasonably cheap and well reviewed one off amazon.
      Hope this helped!

    Just picked up the SprayGunner intro kit ($120 compressor and $5 airbrush), and you've got me interested in the Infinity... would you ever use it for Priming/Varnishing, or if I pick one one should it be used exclusively for more detailed work? Thanks!

    • @robv.johnson6360
      @robv.johnson6360  4 роки тому +1

      What I essentially started with was an Iwata Revolution with a 0.5mm nozzle. However the quality isn't nearly as good as the infinity on any level. I still use that to prime and zenithal and my infinity to do detailed work. However when my revolution eventually goes caput and what I'd do differently were I to start over from scratch is just get the Infinity CR Plus and get the version that comes with two nozzles and needles. One in the 0.2mm for detail work and the 0.4mm for doing the workhorse stuff. They're so easy to change out that I think it's even better than having two airbrushes! Just make sure you keep the extra nozzle/needle safe. ^^ (Oh and you might think about getting a bigger cup size if you're priming with it as well.)
      Best of luck! Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions. As I've said to others any questions or concerns that would best be demonstrated I'll do a video just to answer! :)

    The two models shown are not really comparable, feature-wise, and your assertions display a lack of knowledge. The Iwata in the video is a "medium detail and coverage" brush...The H&S is a detail brush. Essentially, you're comparing a soccer-mom minivan to a mid-level Ferrari.
    The Badger, Iwata, Paasche....even MASTER brands (yes, the ~$30 knockoffs) are available with that little thingy that lets the H&S "go ahead of the competition". It's called a flow limiter. I'm not knocking H&S - I believe the quality is there. But...give a fair review when you mention the competition. Most people who are looking into an 'entry level' airbrush should be looking at a Badger/Iwata/Paasche (Thayer and Chandler deserve an honorable mention, but they're made by Badger now). The brands have 'economy' versions so people can invest in a good quality, decent ability airbrush...that they won't outgrow in a week.
    The Badger Renegade Velocity and the Paasche Raptor are both gravity feed, double action, and have flow limiters.....and are HALF the price (or less). As of the time of this writing, amazon has the Renegade for ~$120, and the Raptor with 3 needle/tip sizes for just over $100.
    The Iwata HP-B+ looks like a direct competitor in detail ability and is in the same price range.
    Incidentally, my Patriot 105, Anthem 155, and VL3 (kits) all have large size nozzles that are easy to remove by hand.
    Of (at least) equal importance is the choice of medium being sprayed, and the preparation thereof. Here's hoping you discover that most brands have some really great quality at decent prices.

    • @robv.johnson6360
      @robv.johnson6360  3 роки тому

      You totally misunderstood why I'm saying this brush is the best beginner brush.
      I'm saying it's the best for beginners because of the proprietary nozzle attachment at the front that doesn't require a wrench. "Everyone breaks their first airbrush" is something people say because of that wrench and the fact that even a modicum of too much pressure will break the nozzle.
      As mentioned in the video, my brother is a professional airbrush artist and he has 7 airbrushes of the very highest quality. (Including a rare airbrush whose name escapes me at present but it's a model sold exclusively through a famous airbrush artist in South Carolina.
      The reason that I think so highly of H&S is because I've tried the rest and in my opinion the H&S is the best bang for your buck.
      The only thing I can't compare however with confidence is the trigger action and the smoothness of the pull. I think they're similarly smooth but it would take someone of my brother's caliber to really compare that aspect of them.

    • @argento1111
      @argento1111 3 роки тому +1

      i agree, the models are not comparable. But still, what makes this brand a winner, (including the H&S Evolution or even the Ultra !) is the engineering of the nozzle, which makes it incredibly easy to clean. Just the though of having to use a wrench every time i have to clean the airbrush puts me off..

    • @dbphotography2770
      @dbphotography2770 3 роки тому

      You are focusing too much on something that is a secondary featute for anyone having good skills in airbrushing and thats the flow limiter.
      Type and shape of the tip are of the most importance,as they define the quantity of the paint that can flow instantly.For example "drop" type tips ( such as patriot )hold a lot of colour and can easily overspray.
      The other important feature is the air flow efficiency of the body.
      Iwata can spray with less psi that badger and HnS for example...Painting non absorbing surfaces such as plastic require less pressure to avoid splashes.
      And finally the trigger is very important.All badger airbrushes have shity triggers compared with iwata and HnS.
      My ranking of airbrushes I have personal opinion of.
      HnS Infinity Cr Plus
      Iwata Hp B Plus
      Badger Sotar ( Generation 1 only,discontinued)
      Iwata revolution
      HnS Ultra
      Badger Patriot.
      And by budget :
      -80 HnS ultra
      -130 Iwata revolution
      -200 + HnS infinity
      Badger simply cant hit the charts anymore,all this give away policy has ruined the quality big times.

    • @dbphotography2770
      @dbphotography2770 3 роки тому

      @@robv.johnson6360 Not everybody destroys the nozzle,doing that to an Iwata takes a bit of a cannibalism tbh.I would agree more,that everybody loses the tip on the floor because its so tiny.
      But you should take on mind that size and shape of the nozzle affect the spraying results a lot,that tiny Iwata nozzle can operate with a lot less pressure and does not " hold" paint ready to overspray with the first mistaken pulling of the trigger.
      Infinity is not a beginners airbrush,HnS Ultra is which is like his little brother and it costs less than 100 euros in my region.
      Infinity is a high line airbrush along with iwata custom micron.
      Better trigger for HnS
      Better air management for Iwata.
