The thought of knowing that people love and care for you, but not being able to recognize what they sound, look like, or what their names are is horrifying to me.
Yeah, It's terrifying.
If I think about it to long all have a breakdown.
Just knowing and loving everyone like friends, parents, siblings, romantic partners, even your neighbours. Just to fade away like an ocean wave crashing down to the lower water. Forgetting who and even what you are. Forgetting to eat. Forgetting where your room is. Slowly seeping into a void while everyone who you knew visits you, them hoping they can see you recognize them, hoping for you to remember something, just to remember anything.
Memory loss and dementia is all scary to the most of us.
The Caretaker expressed that in the album Everywhere At the End of Time, and it made me cry so much.

You can't be certain he was being the slightest bit polite to anyone before that considering the only dialogue we get from him is abstract beeps and bops.
This reminds me of my grandfather. I was so young when he... scratch that, he was like this my entire life until he died when I was 8. You normally don’t want to remember people the way they are when they have dementia/Alzheimer’s, but it’s really all I have. He always seemed like a sweet old man. It’s funny, I still remember being able to understand him when I was really young, but apparently he couldn’t talk for as long as I can remember. I’ve always had a gift for understanding people who don’t necessarily speak in intelligible English, so maybe that’s it. Anyway I appreciate remembering my grandfather again, I thought I’d forgotten about him until now.
It's the same for me. My grandpa lived a few hours away and my dad and I would go to see him. He knew me, but not my dad- his own son.
It hurt to watch him slowly fall apart.

My grandpa and my grandma from my mom side, never met them. They maybe passed away. From my dad's side, my grandpa died when i was 6. I never knew much about him and only my grandma. Thats also when my dad went to Africa to meet them. And about 2 years ago my grandma died. I remember the last call we had, i spoke to her, and she was crying because she couldn't remember something.
Also please pray for my dad, my aunt died a few months ago and my uncle a month ago. My dad keeps acting like he's fine, but he really isnt. My mom isn't doing anything and is just on the phone with her friends always

the fact that dementia does exist, and there are people suffering/dying from it right now, it just hurts to see what happens to these people. they most likely didn’t deserve this.
Well you don't exactly die from it. It's just very scary for family to experience
You do end up dying, if nothing works, you forget how to get up, how to breath, how to talk, how to eat and how to think properly, it's an slow process with care, and it does kill the person slowly, until it forgets how to live for their own, and who they were.
I thought they just randomly dies or something. Not that they forgot basic human function
And don't forget how common is to get Dementia.
I kept just thinking about it and I imagined the pain it felt to themself and others they used to share memories with, I almost broke up in tears just for thinking ONLY for a split second about how terrible it is to feel that.

My nana had dementia. This was usually how we had to take care of her. She will remember us and everything but she just felt like she wasn't there anymore. We had to play elvis to get her to calm down. I just wish she didn't go the way she did. This mod makes me break down anytime I see it. It just reminds me of her.

@@grapewolfy7220 Actually, She is more like a grandma to me, for my mom was hired to take care of her. Sometimes, Dementia just happens if you have high blood sugar, or just stay as alert as you used to. It's not that of a touchy subject, but it is sad to think about.

Tbh it would make sense that Boyfriend is older in this. It’s extremely rare for dementia at this stage to develop in an almost 20 year old, so we can at least assume that this built up over time. Also, impressive how he looks the exact same age in his 30’s.
But this all could be a different universe where he doesn’t remember any memory.

Before the pandemic, I used to work at a senior home as a music therapist volunteer. This mod hits particularly hard because the people I usually worked with were suffering from dementia. It was quite saddening to see that they couldn't remember their own family whenever they got visits, and I had to keep reminding them who I was every so often because they would keep forgetting.
Despite that, whenever I played a song they liked, they would immediately recognize it and sing along. There was this lovely old lady who completely forgot how to speak English and her native language, but when I sang for her, she would chime in with her own favourite song with clear lyrics.
That's why I always tell people no matter the expertise or inclination towards it, music has such a huge impact on our lives.
That makes sense because music is one of if not the last thing people with dementia forget
I noticed that with every song bf is singing less, he forgets the notes or the text he was about to say. More notes are longer, when the music contains more notes, or they're longer than normal, with more space between them. He forgets more and more with every track.
I like the detail of the background portraits. It shows that BF doesn’t really remember any of them. Skid and pump have no eyes, senpai has literal roses replacing his head, daddy dearest’s face is blurred, etc.

If I see any degenerates romanticizing this horrific condition, I will personally impale them with a rusty pipe. (I don't have dementia, nor have any family members that I know of had it. But EATEOT has given me a pretty good grasp on what it's like.)

This doesn't make me cry, it just leaves me feeling very empty. My grandfather raised me for most of my life and I was there to watch first hand as his mental capabilities dwindled. He went from occasional forgetfulness to full on dementia. Eventually, when he was on his deathbed after I had gone to live with my dad I came to visit him. I was there for a few days. On the first day he was just there, enveloped in a deep mental fog that was just impassible. But the next day, he was different. He could remember things, and he spoke like nothing was wrong anymore. We spent hours talking. Then the third day, early morning he passed away. I'll never stop cherishing those last few days with him.

My HeadCanon/Theory: Boyfriend and Girlfriend have done it. They got GF’s parents to accept their relationship, and then shortly after they tried to have a peaceful life together, even though Boyfriend was a rising star. After a few months, Boyfriend grew increasingly confident, and eventually he became a rap legend. One day, while he and Girlfriend were riding out on a date in Boyfriend’s car, Boyfriend took a shot to the head by a anonymous person. The person had wanted revenge from Daddy Dearest, and he intended to shoot Girlfriend, unconscious of the fact she was a demon, and therefore unable to die. (Correct me if I’m wrong.) Girlfriend immediately called 9-1-1, and Boyfriend was hurried to the hospital. All of Boyfriend’s fans eagerly waited for the next album, and the next, until the news came out he had Dementia. Most of the fans were worried, and visited the hospital many times. Some knew there was no hope, and just straight up left him. Soon, Boyfriend’s only supporters were the people he had become friends with. Eventually, he was out of the hospital, but he couldn’t remember much. His fans had left him. He was a waning star. Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest both felt a little sad for him, and then the rest is explained by this mod. This is just my opinion! Thank you for reading.

I broke down watching this. My grandma had dementia and I didn’t understand the she would have forget things so I would take it all as that she didn’t care about me even have all the fun we had together and after she passed on to a better place it really hit me when I got older that she cared about me and that her love for me was stripped away and I resented her in her last months of her life. I have always felt terrible and have just wished that I could see her and hug her and love her

when my grandmother's lewy body's dementia progressed further she had hallucinations frequently. my family spent a lot of time with her before she passed, she was the same friendly, loving grandmother right up until the end, even in the last few days when she was mostly asleep. my sister and I got accustomed to holding conversations based on things we knew weren't there. I love her so much, I miss her

As much as I agree that dementia is terrifying and it's horrible that people have to live with it, I think it is also wrong that now some topics are considered "bad" to joke about just because some may see it as offensive. Jokes are meant to bring light-heartedness and humour into things, even things that never had either in the first place. Honestly, this is the first ever fan creation for a game that actually makes me feel really sad. The makers of the mod did a mighty fine job at showing what the heck is going on here.

It... wasn't a very accurate representation of dementia at all; it just became some kind of angst fanfic all over again.

My grandma had dementia before she passed last year. She confused my mom and me with different people sometimes. This hits really hard,She was the most nicest,smartest, and supporting people i ever met. Im glad you are educating and showing people what dementia can do through a fun game.

Yea, I live with my grandpa and he has dementia. It's not something to romanticize. It's honestly scary. He wakes up at 3:00 pm most days thinking it's 8:00 am, he doesn't remember my name or any of my family's names. So no, it's not a sexual thing. It's horrifying. The fact that some people have already made it sexual is horrible.
There's no goddamn way I'm gonna watch progress for the rest of EatEoF.

This is such a major improvement over the first version I saw a while back. I can't stand how others are being ignorant and making their own mods where it's more like bf has sitcom amnesia and still call it dementia...
It's one thing to imagine a generic or imaginary disease/disorder being cured by music, but once you add that real life label to it, that's nothing to fuck around with.
I swear if I had a computer/modding skills, I'd go out and do this unfinished mod justice. I'd use the EATEOT songs for each Week instead of distorted Vanilla songs and make everything more accurate to this, the creator's original vision. I'd even wanna make a GF version if possible. I have several mod concepts on my mind, but no computer or crew to work with. Not even a Reddit to tell the community about the concepts (boo-hoo). Oh well then, guess I'll be just a backyard idiot with a hat fulla dreams

I know how boyfriends family and boyfriend himself is going through. My great grandma had dementia. It was so bad that she couldn't even remember who she was. Unfortunately She's gone now. She was dear to me. But at least she is in a better place.
