Amazing as always! Thank you for being so inspirational!🎉 you have made my journey into my PhD. as a 48-year-old, mother, Grandmother and dyslexic so much easier! Along with Accepted Society! Thank you so so much!!
my baby girl who is a copy paste of Moo died exactly a week ago. She was almost 11yrs old. i remember seeing Moo for the 1st time in one of your earlier videos and got excited about how Shadow looks similar to her. seeing Moo now after Shadow's passing, im just happy to see her bothering her human. Hug her for me please 🥰
I started my PhD the same year as you and have been watching ever since. Accepted + your content is what’s getting me through my dissertation right now😭. I propose in 10 days and was preparing myself to isolate but you reminding us to balance work/life and prioritize health sounds more reasonable lmao. TLDR, thank you Kaelyn
that playlist title tho "actually life is beautiful and i have time". such a vibe. i'm feeling the grad school crunch rn and trying to remember that i like what i study
Your comment about understanding “the process” and not simply raw facts is so on point. Through my own education and now being a TA for undergrads, it is clearly something that we crave. Understanding the process helps you to orient yourself and provides valuable perspective on the journey to defining and developing your end goal.
Really, really loved the look at your conference presentation. Getting the public re-invested in the humanities is so essential, and the work you’re doing here is helping lay a solid foundation for it.
I watched your whole talk at the conference. It was amazing and very very thoughtful to have come up with strategies that you implemented successfully.
Kaelyn, congratulations! It is so wonderful that you are working not only with other content creators in the field of education, but also with more experienced (by which I mean older) academics. I have been listening to what you have been saying with great interest. It inspires me to continue sharing my PhD story on Instagram, and to think about educational techniques in a more non-traditional way ♥
I'm towards the end of your conference presentation now, and you discuss that there needs to be a space for historians and scholars to come together and discuss their works. "Accepted Space" just came to mind. It's in line with Accepted Society and Accepted Consulting. It could work. Beautiful, teachable presentation.
Congrats on another great vid! As a fellow PhD student, I resonate with your comment about the “insular” and almost selfish-like behaviour to guard our own research. Although i feel like with the intense competition to publish first and high impact in science may significantly hold some people back from being that open with sharing their work. Also, I always like your notes of gratitude at the end of your vids. It’s so important to recognize and appreciate the opportunities for personal growth!
As a PhD. I counsel you to enjoy the process. Perchance, you will forget the learnt, but you will recover your studies by yourself, and understand a PhD is the knowing, the knowledge, and the wisdom of all secrets, and mysteries that comes from abovehead.
Bravo! You did a spectacularly eloquent and succinct presentation! Wow! So happy for you! So excited about what’s in store for the future of Humanities studies with your continued work. This effort is so needed and so important!! Absolutely loved this vlog.
Yay for touching your toes! Haha! Also- I love the story you shared about your cousin- a full circle moment for you- but so much more. We all need that one person who believes in us and sets us on a path to accomplish our dreams. I’m so happy for you that you had him in your life at the right season for the right purpose! ❤❤
loving this content!!! i always love to watch your vlogs first thing in the morning because they make me want to have a productive day 😎 thanks Kaelyn!
What a wonderful video, showing balance and achievement. I particularly love your arguments on using storytelling as a way to captivate students and the use of humanities on everyday life. Would love to see that full video on the theme if you ever find it interesting to record
I love that you also love discovery of witches! I DEVOURED the first book and I'm in the middle of the second one now and I honestly can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book series so much. Immediately became my favourite! I see myself re-reading it next year already 😂
Thank you so much for all your hard work! You might have already talked about it, but I would love to see your dissertation timeline and your strategy or plan of attack. How do you plan out what to work on and how much time you think it will take?
Happy days to the PhD. candidate! I'm so proud of you! Is it easier to use We work locations since Ali relocated? Anyway, you are my motivation, so thank you! 🎉 Please remember, your finish line is closer than you think. And, I hope to see your graduation ceremony!🥰 Excellent Conference presentation!
In thinking about the earlier part of your video regarding conceptions of childhood, you could consider the satiric literature, particularly Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal," which is one of my favorite literary pieces to teach. Children are considered a burden, and it would be difficult to put them to use, so it is better to eat them. That would add an interesting perspective maybe as a footnote to your research. Project Gutenberg has an online copy for printing. Great video!
@@KaelynGraceApple Swift's work is 18th century. "A Modest Proposal" was published 1729, so it is a satire of the colonial period from an Irish perspective. The Irish couldn't trade, i.e., export during this time, so the only "money" coming in was from absentee landlords who held property in the country but didn't really contribute any taxes. The Irish couldn't manufacture and then export to the colonies to make money. They were metaphorically stuck. It's satire, of course, but you should be able to find it online. Just type in the title and his name. I would provide the link, but when I do that, UA-cam deletes the comment. Satire is always an interesting perspective. Have a great one.
@@KaelynGraceApple Something happened to my original comment I just sent. Here is a brief of that comment. Jonathan Swift's work, "A Modest Proposal," was published in 1729. It is essentially a satire about the colonial struggle with export and import. The Irish are basically prohibited from manufacturing and exporting to the colonies. The absentee landlords hold property in Ireland but do not contribute that money; instead, they take it back to their own countries or places of residences. This means the country is stuck economically and financially, so Swift, in his satiric way, is suggesting that since you won't let us trade, then we will just birth our children to sell for food. That's the "use" the children could serve for the country. It's interesting. I hope this comment takes. I copied it just in case. Have a great one.
I want to do masters because I want to gain knowledge about the field. I also wanna do my PhD in Economics but have not yet decided on it yet. Will take that decision later
I've had it for like 3 years now so idk remember the model but its an ipad pro. I don't recommend it though if you don't need it to function in lieu of a computer

Loved your presentation - I 100% agree. We see this in our students as well, who are struggling

You did a great job with your conference presentation. Good luck with working your PhD degree.
I was on the T for the first time since 2017 earlier this year! I was only in Boston for a quick overnight, but what a city!
You have a newfound confidence that is really shining through! I'm so happy for you! What would you attribute that to?

I'm also rereading A Discovery of Witches right now. I'm on number three at present.
Speaking at a Conference? Professional Greige Barbie enters the chat. That’s awesome 👏🏽

David Graeber has an interesting discussion of Swift’s commentary in The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity.
They have a black olive bagel? I have never heard of that! Ok - I need to go to Cambridge!
Bagelsaurus has the best bagels!
Well done, friend!
The outfit in the beginning is so cute and so are you. Where is your outfit from?
The green suit is from Banana Republic :)

Can you give any career advice for last year Economics graduate?? Are UK universities good for considering masters??
Why do you want the masters?
I want to do masters because I want to gain knowledge about the field. I also wanna do my PhD in Economics but have not yet decided on it yet. Will take that decision later
I recommend gaining professional experience before acquiring a masters or graduate degree
Ok, thank you very much for your valuable advice. Will definitely gain experience before.
no one in my classroom has a cig
Not quite sure what this means 😅
How is your Phd going now??
Much better now!
