    horizontal reel 50 I had to glue the o ring back in , and I hand carved a better handle knob from hardwood that has enough length to clear the tension knob ... still don't like it but it works much better. I replaced it with a cheap $70 Pacific reel basically an mvd clone and it's much much better. I did notice your better shooting line management you glued into the cuttlefish pretensioner and I made my own from stainless thanks so much for that its great , the tiny plastic ones it had weren't sufficient for double shooting line , it always popped off in current . and I put he new upgraded line release mechanism .... so now finally the guns worth having...what a journey thanks pathos hahah,

    I’m a huge proponent of Pathos, I think they are super guns and I recommend them to everyone. My guns are many years old and very well used, I have an occasional problem with one gun where the spear sometimes won’t engage when inserted into the mech - sometimes it won’t catch and then I really need to slam it in. It doesn’t always happen and when I took it apart, I couldn’t see an obvious cause. It’s the Diangelo II handle, any ideas?

      That's very weird. Do you have have the spear line going through that hole in the back of the spear that sits in the cassette? Some times if you using a really thick line it can prevent the spear going in smoothly. Do you use the pin drop or side.line release?

      @@donsolomon8501 Yes, I do have the line going through the back of the spear - it's not super thick line though - maybe that's the issue though. I did try the line on the sharkfin but really didn't like it - I can't quite remember why - I think it was something to do with it catching the wishbone while loading. I'm using the little pin line release. Do you think it's probably just the line on the back of the spear? It's weird as it doesn't always do it, but when it does, the spear just won't catch and I cant load the gun, normally for a few minutes, then it'll just work again. As I said though, very well worn guns!

      @@BR0SE1DON ive also picked up this issue when some guys use other branded spears and the seer part is a fraction not the same. its rare but happens, ive picked up some of the old Rob Allen spear have a different seer locate and that can present some issue. otherwise, teh pathos casette is so simple, its very weird that there is something preventing the spear travel into the lock. my 100 roller is coming on 7 years old, my go to gun and its just fault less.

      @@donsolomon8501 hey Don, I’m using the normal Pathos spear - the issue hasn’t been that the spear doesn’t go into the cassette, it’s just that it sometimes doesn’t lock into place / engage in the mech. That said, the issue didn’t happen once last season, so maybe it was just a small issue that’s fixed itself!? I think my guns must be similar to yours, 7 or 8 years old now. I’ve got the 60, 82 and 90 - the 82 is my go-to gun. In total, including the spear, it’s smaller in length than a Rob Allen 70 but has 5 cm more band stretch than a Rob Allen 90. Amazing compact gun, love it!

      @BROSEIDON ok that's cool, perhaps there may have been some grit etc. Jammed in there. I'm glad it's sorted. Ya I think they fantastic guns. I am really enjoying the 75 roller now. Especially for dirty water, close range shots, Incredible

    Nice one Don, now I’ve just got to try and get one. Heaps of stuff here is out of stock. Apart from looks what’s the difference from your perspective between vertical and horizontal reels?

    • @donsolomon8501
      @donsolomon8501  2 роки тому

      The difference is not much. I use the 70 vertical to carry more thick line, all my competition guns have horizontal reels so that if necessary and I'm in a weird location I can beg n borrow Spares from my other reels. But most guys just have a preference from a style and what they comfortable with.
