X Boil Stove - Could this be "the one"?

- Hello you lovely lot!!!
As you all know I do love my alcohol stoves but I have been looking for "the one" for a long time now. I've used stoves that I love but are only good for one of my pots, not all of them.... until now!
This X-Boil stove is literally perfect! It works with all of my pots, doubles as a pot stand and windshield (really effectively!), has holes so you can either turn them towards or away from the wind depending on what you need, and does not buckle on use! It's perfect and my search for my perfect stove now ends! Thank you so much to the lovely Leo for letting my review this for him, I hope he feels I have done his stove justice!!

I recently purchased the goshawk stove made by company is oz, I am absolutely blown away by how quickly it boils water. Stealth needs alcohol. These new gas stoves do sound like a jet taking off. Great channel by the way

This really does look like a great little stove, I was put off alcohol/meths stoves years ago after drinking coffee that tasted like petrol from my OH storing his full trangia inside the kettle and the fumes making the thing stink to high heaven, but this is so neat I could be tempted to try again 🤣
Ahhh yes that’s gross when that happens!!! I tend to put my burner in a little food bag now just in case and try to make sure it’s burnt out. Plus bioethanol doesn’t leave the same taste either… but that you want to drink it at all!! 😂🤣😂

That looks like a great little stove, Karen. I don't why I keep opting for my gas stove and leaving the alcohol burner at home, but I think you've just re-ignited (no pun intended!) my love for alcohol stoves. I'll have to dust off my Trangia and give it a whirl next camp! :)
And, I have to say, how flipping nice is this weather!? I camped up on Lower White Tor a couple of nights ago, and ended up sleeping on top of my sleeping bag for the first time this year. Gorgeous!
Yes it’s absolutely incredible weather!! I did almost get blown away on Friday so ended up bailing to a wild camping site but at least I had a night out!
I know you have to wait longer with alcohol stoves but I love the silent, laid back feel of it, plus gas scares the poop out of me! 😂🤣

@@ksgonewild Yeah, it was windy on Friday! I was a little concerned at one point but thankfully there's some good shelter from the easterly winds at Lower White (and Higher White if one was to be naughty).
I got both of my Trangias out after my previous comment, so I have no excuse to not take them next time! :)

At the pot pack up at the end of the video, I would use a paper towel between all the pieces. One to stop any scratches between the metals pieces and two to help stop rattles.
It’s so well packed it doesn’t rattle but it’s a good idea if I have a sooty bottom 😂🤣😂

One of the saddest films there ever was! Man did I cry!!!!
Hiya karen.. i actually watched this the other night and thought it was an awesome setup and better than the alcohol stove set up i currently use.. So ordered the UL kit 😁😁😁👍 having it delivered to my workplace as its guaranteed to arrive there unlike home.. Trying to minimise my pack weight as much as possible due to my dodgy back etc.. This saturday i managed to pack all my summer wildcamp gear in my new osprey 35l stratos with room to spare.. But still looking at lightening my load.. This will help a lot 👍😁 should have it by weekend and fingers crissed the weathers ok to go out and try it 🏕😁

I have yet to try an alcohol stove but did by a vintage on recently. That said this one looks good for what it is and nice and easy to pack and put together. I love my Honey stove but its worse than Jenga trying to put it together, it supports liquid fuel and wood though which is good.
Ahhh yes they do look nice the honey stoves and great to have two options! I just love alcohol stoves and this is perfect for me!
I do love a stick fire too though and love my Bushbox for that! Awesome piece of kit!!! 🥰

Just try to buy one but didn't ask for card details but did say, your order has been made. Bit weird. Gave all other details, name, email etc but not received an email. I would contact them but they don't seem to have a contact form. Maybe it's just me and my hangover head. Looks a great piece of kit and being able to fit it all in the pot is really appealing too.

@ksgonewild I went directly to the xboil website because then its sent from Germany and I wouldn't pay import duties. Maybe they ask for payment after, I'll wait and see if I get an email from them. (I no longer have insta etc, just youtube) hope you're doing well pink lady (surely that's an ipa name?)

Hiya Karen, just discovered your channel..Like your stove. It's a great little set up; but unfortunately for us mere mortals who are not gifted these things; it costs around €50 😱 (I believe, please correct me if I'm wrong).
Luckily there is an alternative..You already have the brilliant Des Catty stove (£6.99) lixada do a titanium windshield, very similar to x boil (£8)..then all you need are two tent pegs across the windshield (as pot holder)..Voila, same thing for £15👍

I’ve been using that exact set up for a long time but as I do a lot of proper cooking I’ve found the lixada pot stand keeps warping and bending. I’ve had to replace it as I use it so much and now the same thing is happening again…. That will not happen with this so for me, it’s worth the money as it will last me forever more. But I get you, it’s not exactly cheap and if the lixada one works for you then happy days!!!!

I have this and I love it! The only advice I have, is when you insert the windscreen into itself to make the circle, make sure you pull the connection to seat it properly. I did not do this one and it became spring loaded and shot the little shelves everywhere! Took me a while to find them 🤣
BTW, why fry pan is that? I need one that's nice and compact and I already have the handle!

My frying pan is actually a titanium bowl so it doubles as my plate which I absolutely love. I can’t remember the brand, I’ll have a look and pop it here if I find it 🥰

Hey! I generally only use my bigger pot but I would imagine it would work equally well with the smaller one too. I absolutely love it and can’t see me using anything else for my wild camps! 🥰

Awesome, if you carry on up past where you were in this video, go over the two big boulders and down the other side there's a beautiful little spot where you don't get disturbed. I left a little fire wood on the rock too 👍

At the moment I've got a Jet Boil, pocket rocket and a Boundless Voyager titanium twig stove, none of which are really suitable for stealth camping. This could be the one! BTW - Have you used your Zebra Billycan oven gear yet - the ones supplied by Rough Timba? Bought mine at the Bushcraft Show last weekend and used it a couple of days ago (Wednesday evening) to cook bannocks on a camp with Wiltshire Man (Sandy). They're bloomin' great! You can see the result in his latest vid.

I’ve just had a look… I do lots of different cooking and often fry bacon or stirfry meals which would not work either that system. It does look very clever and stable but this system is better for me and my needs. 🥰
@@ksgonewild YOu can fry bacon on those.. there are different sizes and also an added bonus is it uses wood with the gasifier add on. There are even ones with 2 sections so its split in half.

You can blow it out or I lift the pot stand off (with my trangia pot holder) and snuff it out with my pot. Should have shown that sorry! Xx

Trouble with the canister is that it takes up so much room, especially with 500ml can.

You should not be cooking food out in the open, the Government have just passed a law through banning it due to the high number of Vole attacks, we are only in June and 52 people have been killed by Voles with suppressed anger!
