GARDEN ROUTE - SOUTH AFRICA | Birds of Eden and Monkeyland | (visiting the world's largest aviary)

- Join us as we stop at family-friendly wildlife sanctuaries along the Garden Route in South Africa.
Our first stop in this video is at Monkeyland. Monkeyland is just outside of Plettenberg Bay and is the world’s first free-roaming multi-species primate sanctuary. We were able to arrive right at opening and get a private guided tour. We loved learning about this sanctuary and we were able to see lemurs, spider monkeys, gibbons, and more.
We then headed right across the street to Birds of Eden. Birds of Eden is the world’s largest free-flight bird aviary and houses more than 3,500 birds. The dome covers 2 km of boardwalks, a restaurant, and several ponds. After the guided tour through Monkeyland, it was nice to stroll through the sanctuary on our own time.

I love that area. Never been the the larks though, need to experience it. It’s funny how the saying is true, if you live in the country you don’t do things because you think you have all the time in the world to do them. Now living in the US, I wish I took more advantage of traveling SA.

I have been to monkeyland its a very beutiful place on garden route people go to europe but i tell u South Africa is very beautiful place with lovely nature

Oh I always wanted to sneak in the Aviaries of the local Zoo in my hometown when I was a child. This place would be my childhood dream coming true! Such a lovely place 😊

Spider monkeys are so lovely and playful. I got a chance to see them in a zoo, and they are very skilled tumblers.
