My son drives and I take in the scenery, but know NOT where I am; I am learning and creating waypoints into the wilds.

Question: onx offroad allowed me to pick out where I was going...my example is: I'm in upstate ny...I get on the app and pick out where I'm headed in west Virginia. From there onx would switch over to Google maps and route me directly to the way point. If ride command has this feature I can't figure out how to use it. Help?

Ride command does not have that option yet. It can only be done through the phone app then you can transfer it to your Ride Comman in the unit.

After I select a start point, I then select a nearby destination. Your video shows the straight line morphing to the trail. That doesn’t happen when I do it. Am I doing something wrong?

It will only work on the RideCommand app but if its not working for you try not clicking a destination as far away I've noticed it can only figure it out if you do about a 10-15 stretch. If youre going farther then you have to add "stops" but I mapped out a 650 mile ride with mine and it worked just took some time.

Why doesn’t it work like a Garmin, put in the destination and get routing ? I have the 7S display on my snowmobile.

The 7S screen does not have the capability's to do that on its own. You can get turn by turn directions on the Ride Command app then follow the steps in this video to get your planned ride to the 7S screen.

The trails have to be open, if the trails are closed it won’t snap to the trail.

Can you just use your phone on the trail if you don't have a setup on your sled and will the phone hold up in the cold.

Yep, you can download chunks of the map (as you may not have cell service on the trail) and track a ride along a planned route from your phone. It's a way better experience on the 7S display though. Your phone will probably fine but it depends on the phone, case, and weather conditions.

What happens when you connect and IPhone through the USB? Do I still need to connect with Bluetooth?

Yes the USB on the RideCommand is only used for uploading the software/ maps.
