Those walls are just for preventing the magma cubes spawning, you dont need them anymore, just swap them with with wither roses for few more spawning places.
Yeah Ren, definitely get rid of the walls... also it's dificult to explain, but you should replace the red sandston that has buttons on it with glass and no buttons... the spawn skirt is one block too high.
9:14 Professor Iskall telling Ren to raise the layer he has up a block. 19:50 certified Ren-stoner replacing his layer with soul soil at the same level
The sandstone "skirt" around the spawning platform needs to be nether brick to increase your rates. It's there to force pack spawning attempts into the farm. Wither skeletons (or any fortress mob) can only spawn outside of the inner structures on nether brick so no attempts are being made on the sandstone. You will see a noticeable improvement to your rates by changing the blocks and you only need to do it on the highest spawning platform. Gnembon has some great videos explaining this mechanic (I'm not good at explaining these things lol).
Over 55k buttons placed is absolutely insane! It is so cool that the permit system has pushed lots of Hermits out of their comfort zones. I've also really enjoyed the chill livestreams vods on your second channel. Keep up the good work!
For me, every non-building/techinal aspect of minecraft is "redstone". It is like a umbrella term :D And who knew teacherskall was such a good teacher!
@@MekhamiI think even redstone can be technical or non-technical. For example, a button and an iron door or a minecart collection system are redstone but not really technical whereas an item filter would be technical because it's utilizing game mechanics in the redstone.
I'm not a great technical Minecrafter but I don't think you need the walls in there now that you have the Roses so it will open up even more spawn places.
It's impressive no matter how many times someone makes farms like this. It's nice to see how happy you are with your efforts. Be proud of them, Rendog.
When Iskall started explaining spawn spaces, I thought.... What twaddle is this man spewing.... Then as he finished, I thought... The man's a genius! The way he explained it made so much sense 😁
FYI Ren, you can use snowmen for the wither rose farming, just get a stack or 2 of carved pumpkins and some snow and set up a dropper? with the pumpkins and just spam the snow men, and when done you can collect them all again while the wither goes banans on them in the safe zone under the end portal. (got the design from "DirtGolem") love the videos and keep up the good work as well :p
With the others making wither skull farms in past seasons they know what there doing and have good knowledge of redstone Ren just just needs to button it Jokes aside loving the farm Ren and really enjoying your episodes this is the first season I’m watching you from the start and so far I’m very much enjoying it
I think I already understood most of this. I did not realize farms would also loose efficiency over time. Also the light overlay mod is probobly your friend here. Any block in the neather that is not lit up or buttoned will then be visible as a red x. In fact I think I was wells knight using that mod so you might litterally be able to just press f7 and go wild.
If you want to find the rest of the places without buttons, make your farm unspawnable and wait around for a couple of minutes. After waiting for a bit fly around to find mobs that spawned.
So now you are a wizard Ren! Redstone/technical building is magic (to me at least) and you made something difficult and also beautiful ❤ Now we wait the "It's actually quite easy" line and you have graduated 😁
hey, congrats for the farm update and for actually making an effort to learn something new about technical MC. You also dont need the walls taking spawning spaces anymore.
the way i like to think about redstone is digital vs mechanical. a wither skeleton farm with no bits of redstone is purely just the gears turning the filter filtering the blender spinning but as soon as you start adding repeaters and wires and torches it becomes more of a high tech computing machine and THEN it becomes redstone
For future reference, if you need more wither roses, you could try asking Keralis. He set up a wither rose farm in his most recent episode, and you might be able to arrange something with him. Either that or take it as a challenge for yourself to make a wither rose farm in the end somewhere.
You don't want to hear this ren, but the reason to build a wither skeleton farm in a soul sand valley is that you don't need to button everything. Soul sand valleys have been coded to not fill the mob cap with natural spawns because ghasts and skellies are annoying enough in small numbers, so there will always be spots left for wither skellies to spawn. You only need to button any nearby biomes like nether wastes.
I tried telling him in the last video and on stream about how to fill his SSV mobs mobcap with Striders, but at this point teaching him about spawn potential wouldn't help his rates or give anyone involved a good time. Hopefully these comments like yours will stop the spread of misinformation in the widespread Minecraft community though.
Rendog - Welcome to ButtonCraft, season Button! Viewers - Why is he talking about, Buttons? Me - Did he get another Play Button from UA-cam? Ren - NO! I been placing buttons all over the area, around the Wither Skeleton farm and losing my mine! Viewers - You did lose you mine, when you were the Mad King in Last Season! Ren - Wait a Minute, I did!
I didn’t realize until I listened to the impskizzpod today how far back you and Iskall go. I now love your interactions even more. Perfect vid to release today Ren.
some would say that making farms like these removes the 'Fun' in grinding but you see, these types of farms are one hell of a grind as well, it just gives you more incentive on the long run and the joy of completing a fully functional large-scale farms like these are indescribable especially if you add your own little twists with it.
Once that final button is placed it will feel like a huge relieve. The same feeling I got after draining all the water surrounding a river...."It's done???? OMG It's DONE!!!". then watching the wither skeletons coming down like a waterfall.
Ren my guy Iv watched you for years. I remember the original Mole hole! Your growth and accomplishments have been amazing my dude! Congratulations on that amazing Minecraft milestone
I‘m usually watching more of the „technical“ hermits but recently subbed here. it‘s been great fun watching you learn about the technical aspects of the game. While having built plenty of technical farms I still learned stuff from this episode. I love your excitement about discovering a new aspect of the game for yourself after all these years. would like to see you tackle more technical builds in the future! ❤
I appreciate the explanation by iskall. And ren’s perspective as a neophyte technical builder. All the tutorials on UA-cam are great and easy to follow, but none of the explain why the build is as it is. Which does help me debug any problems that arise
Ren, i watched the imp and skizz podcast and i just want to say I’ve realllly been loving the vibe this season. I know for me i really enjoy the genuine personality shining through the videos. And while i did enjoy and admire the work you put into editing in previous seasons (seriously i can’t even dream up an idea of how you did all that), i love the more down to earth nature of this season so much more. We definitely are interested in YOU guys and not what you do! 🫶🏻
This is pretty nuts! So many buttons. Next season, if you're responsible for building the wither skull farm, check out ianxofour's design. It has incredible rates, is easy to build, and best part is - NO SPAWN PROOFING.
Anybody who's ever done this knows exactly the feeling it is when they see another person and yes I'm still always impressed when somebody does it legit. When I did it, I decided to break stuff instead of button lol. Same feeling goes towards people that drain an ocean monument. I know how long it takes one single person to do it without cheating or duping sand lol. I'm always impressed. Even more so that you guys can do it within a few episodes.
I just wanna say thank you for all the hard work you put in. You put smiles on peoples faces every day and you manage to make me happy even when life gets hard! Much love.
Ren I'm not sure if you've considered this, but if you're miniHud 128 radius sphere is centered on the center block of your farm, it's actually too small but the width of your spawn platform, the diameter of your sphere should be 128+width of your spawn platform. Good lucky, awesome to see the Gigaproject underway!
A simpler way to explain the button-ing issue is: the more buttons placed, the more valuable the next button placed is! (22:33 ...ah, you literally said that yourself lol)
The sense of accomplishment will be awesome! If i remember correctly you could use the miniHUD to show block light level and will only show it on the blocks that are not buttoned yet (probably too late to mention it) making it easier to find those pesky little ones on a sea of buttons
FWIW if you really wanted to make the farm even faster, the bounding box around the intersection usually allows for 3 platforms total instead of just the one. However lol, at this point im sure your super exhausted, and incredibly proud of your work and you dang well should be! Nice job Diggity Dog, love seeing your excitement to learn new things. I feel the same way everytime I learn new game mechanics, farms, redstone, etc.
Ren: Gets told to build the platform one higher by Iskall Also Ren: tears down the sandstone to rebuild in soul soil and places it on the same level so he has to tear it up again in the furute

You have inspired me to make my own wither skeleton farm. I have placed this week like 3000 buttons. To think I need to place so much more is discouraging, but I am excited to finish such a big project that I’ve never done before
For the chicken farm- You should add hoppers under the shulkers for when you break the shulkers they get deposited into a chest closer to the front and all you need to do is break and add shulkers and the chest will fill up with full shulkers of eggs each time you pass by there
Tip: make sure you keep track of the exact centre of the spawn sphere and stand on it while using the farm, otherwise the very edges may be just ouside of the buttoned area.
use the minihud to show light level on the blocks! also you can use minihud feature that paints red the spawnable blocks!!!! for easier detection of the missing buttons

Awesome episode! Wow the farm is coming along really nicely! Good idea with the wither roses, never thought of that. Keep up the awesome work! Have a fantastic week! See you next time!
I would also make some auto crafters for the coal for coal blocks as well as take the bones into bone meal then into bone blocks as well. Definitely will save you some storage space in the future

Yeah Ren, definitely get rid of the walls... also it's dificult to explain, but you should replace the red sandston that has buttons on it with glass and no buttons... the spawn skirt is one block too high.
gonna comment hoping he sees this, the more the spots the better

BUTTONS!!!
I watched all the button vods, just caught you on the impskizzpod this morning and now your next episode is out! Love to see it:)

Shout for Iskall. That explanation was perfect layman terms for those without that kind of knowledge.
