    Honestly once you’ve done a couple of battery cycles, it’s the easiest way to own a car. We got one and it was so good, we got rid of our petrol car.
    The only people who shouldn’t consider it are people who live in central Australia and commute 700km a day, and people who just love combustion engines

    Things you missed:
    1. Most ev owners charge at home and may have solar or ev plans that provide super cheap pricing, e.g. 3 hour free power windows on weekdays or even everyday.
    2. Charging after a days driving might mean topping up 5-20% of the battery for most. This would take less than an hr.
    3. Most ev owners only use fast chargers for holidays or roadtrips. Who cares if it costs a little more for those occassional trips.
    4. When travelling, the Plugshare app will help determine which chargers are working and which arent. No guesswork. Just check on the app if the charger is working before you set off.
    Personally I charge for free at home and for free at a local carpark as part of my weekly routine. Hard to beat that.

      It wasn't a vid about the pros of EVs. It was a vid about charging alternatives. Not misses.

    Last time I checked, extension cords for even the most basic 'trickle chargers' weren't recommended and I sure wouldn't be using one. I'd be looking for a charger cable with the extra length. I've got both a 5 metre as well as a 10 metre - and may also consider a 15 metre since I have a 15 amp power point for the ability to extract the little extra 'juice'. Thought I'd comment abouit that...

    Unless you have a smart elec meter the comment about charging at home on "off peak" rates. Normally off peak rates only apply to heating the hot water. And the "off peak" electrical circuit and cheap rates does not apply or go to household power points, unless you have a smart elec meter

    • @JoshuaMcTackett
      @JoshuaMcTackett 9 днів тому

      That’s controlled load. Off peak is different. It’s only about the time that your household uses it.

      @@JoshuaMcTackett yes that right, but basic meters do not have that option. And smart meters do have it. Energy Australia network has gone to smart meters years ago. But Endeavour Energy not as common
