Crazy, I searched all over, and the young guy whom didn't know the term for a coaxial cable was THE MOST HELPFUL. All these older guys being blah-blah and not showing shit. Heh. Thanks, guy.

Super cool. But if I want to record over the air can I just screw in my screwy cable from my antenna to the in and then use the coaxal out to my smart TV, since the VCR catches the signal from the antenna???? I don't want a million cords either and this was most helpful cause I was ready to spend all this dough just so I could record a game from ota.

Hey🤓 thank you so much, i have a Samsung Smart Tv.
I had the same experience as you described. “Why is this so complicated?”
Luckily, your Video popped up 1st on You Tube, and after following your instructions, i went into Menu, went into broadcast and Clicked on Antenna and it had two options, Air or Cable.
When i clicked on Cable, it worked!!!
We have Success, now we can watch our VHS tapes.

Thank you for making this Video.🥰

Hi folks. I have a problem. I bought myself a video player for Christmas. I have a problem. I can't get it to work. My television does not have red, yellow and white connections. it has a red and two blues so I assumed if I put the red in the others go in the other one's. I then still could not get it to work so I tried the second method connecting the wall antenna to back of video player then to television. The television is picking up the television channels but it is still not getting any vision or audio from the video player. Any advice please from anyone here would be appreciated. Maybe someone has encountered the same problem ? Thanks .

This maybe a silly question but would having the both different types of cables connected at the same time improve the picture?

The best way is to get a relatively not old, like 2007 dvd and vhs combo and just use rca cables if your tv has them. Most super new ones only have component. I tried 4 different converters from 11 to 35 dollars with no luck. Found a dvd/vcr combo at a garage sale for like 5 dollars and that's all I needed, works like the day I recorded it in the 80's

I had to wait, until grandpa had bought me a new coaxial cable for my aunt's VCR/DVD combo player. I plugged the coax cord to my TV, but there's one problem: my aunt's VCR/DVD combo player has no coaxial port to plug in to; just RCA cables, which brings me to my next problem. RCA cables are a no-go for me, because when I plugged it in with that method, there's a hybrid green-yellow port to plug in to. Though it still works, it will have no video, and thus it will not display the picture, and will only show the 'No Signal' text.
Of course, I could plug the VCR/DVD combo player to the TV, going from RCA cables to HDMI, but there's a third problem. My TV only has two HDMI ports, and both of them are used for my DirecTV receiver (I used to have a Dish Joey, which short circuited), and my PS4 console, and I'm at a huge dilemma. As such, your video on how to plug a VCR to a smart TV did not work for me, which gave me a very good reason to dislike your video. I'm sorry, but the designs of both my TV and my aunt's VCR/DVD combo player are what prevented me from watching VHS tapes, at all.

Hey there! I got a new LD non-smart TV that seems to hate both my VCRs. Tried to connect them through composite, those wires were tested on my DVD just before testing them on both VCRs and the TV wouldn't get any signal from any of my VCRs even through both my VCRs and this new TV have composite connections. Because the composite connection works just fine on my DVD player and both VCRs had the same answer, I figured out this TV might not hate these VCRs. I bought an SCART-HDMI converter which solved the problem and my VCR is finally playable on this new TV.
I had smart TVs before since 2017 but I never had this problem with my VCR. For those who want to criticise me for keeping them, I have 50 or more old VHS tapes that I grew up with and for NO reason I would throw them away!

Shit has got so confusing with all the UBS port bullshit and HDMI smart TV's having no old connections, and I'm an old fart now so I actually didn't remember IF a simple old coaxial cable worked for both audio & video. Haha. I'm a old dumbass. I figured it did. If you got a Super VHS (or especially any old standard VHS player for that matter), using a upscaler to 1080p is awesome on a 4k smart TV. Really makes the picture all that much better.

I'm surprised that you have a TV that still has a coaxial cable connector. the top coaxial connector is cable or antenna in for anyone wondering. You could also connect the VCR to the TV with the RCA cables as well.

Thank you for uploading this video. I bought a vcr yesterday and couldn’t get it to hook up to my tv. I tried everything before looking up what else to try and I saw this video first, clicked it and it worked. So thank you for helping me watch some of my childhood videos that I loved. ♥️

Appreciate your " realness" in your video. I was a teenager when VHS's, first came to be. So, yes , I am old(er) & things were definitely less complicated. Anyway, I have been trying to hook up VCR to Smart TV. I have the screw in cc ables. BUT.. I have no internet.. I SHOULD be able to still use JUST VCR.. but it's not working...! Getting frustrated, I'm not stupid but this has me questioning that..
