  • Today's video covers what I think are the 3 alternatives to Mallincamsky Live Stacking Feature. They are Deep Sky Stacker Live, Siril, and SharpCap. I will discuss the reasons why I choose one program above them all. I hope this helps those of you looking for another program for Live Stacking. As I mention in the Video. Mallicansky is a great Live Stacking program for use with a Mallincam DS Series camera. It does what it does very well. There are also times when you might want just a little more out of your data and I show you how to do it.
    Thanks for watching...

Jeff -- brilliant demo of SC live stacking capability. If you were to make this video today for general (non-MC) audience, suggest title and content focus simply on SC Live Stacking and limit discussion of other 3 programs to minimal pros and cons bullet points. You drive SC beautifully. Thanks much for this,,,Very useful info. All the Best! Dave Stokes

      Thanks, Dave
Welcome to my new home. As you know this video came from a different era... and yes I would make the video more SharpCap focused... Might be a good one for when things slow down. Thanks again and Clear skies.

Jeff, you mentioned that the subs were captured in NINA so I assume you made your flats and darks etc in NINA as well. In this tutorial you are showing the stacking of only the lights. Can you do the stacking of darks, bias and darks in SC as well? Then combine them in SC or are we straying too far in image processing and thus beyond SC's capabilities? I will watch the video again maybe I missed the answer to that part of my question.

Dan, Yes I used NINA that night to capture the lights. I had previously made the bias, darks, and flats. I used Siril to make the image I posted to the Group Photos section. Siril as a part of it pre and post processing script I used makes the master files. The Master Flat and Dark were used in SharpCap for the Live Stack demo. At 7:24 into the video. If you look on the right center of the Camera Control Panel. You will see that the Master Flat and Dark are already loaded. I just think you missed it... ;-) Hope this helps.

Deep Sky Stacker Live and Siril are Free... SharpCap has a Pro License that cost around $20 US to get the Live Stacking feature.
