This album is so crazy interesting from a psychological perspective. I see it as a commentary on the state of music and politics on the surface, but it also delves deeply into the mental state of people today, picking out insecurities and describing guilty pleasures that are more common than a lot of people think because they're never confessed. He even delves into darker topics like depression because it's one of the if not THE most common cause of things like an overactive sex drive, deviant behaviours/interests, agression, and on a totally different but equally important end, the need to express oneself. I could honestly type about it for hours. If any of my professors ever have me analyze an album for a project I'm definitely picking this. Edit: I was also so personally offended when they skipped the best line in She's So Nice lol

Each snippet gives a sense of the psyche of the creator, and builds this identity in the mind of the listener of sadness, confrontation, and aimlessness. It’s a piece of art, and it’s human nature, in its base, horrific, offensive, and beautiful form. Or maybe it’s some memes idk
The biggest reason why this video did extremely well, was because for alot of people its like we're listening to it for the first time again. Since the reactions are so pure.

Francis of the Filth AKA George 'Joji' Miller stands to make $150.000 - $250.000 from Pink Season. And you wonder why you get a pink guy album instead of a Joji album? He now has the money to produce a serious album and once that is reviewed and Joji becomes respected as an artist he can start touring/collabing. Until that time, we will have to deal with Pink Guy. Blame the fans, not the artist.
While I don't know about the backend costs he has for maybe renting equipment or w/e, for each album sale, after the cut that the platform (Itunes, Google Music etc.) takes is about $9 an album sale. Considering he reached #2, charted on Itunes, Google and Billboard and looking at the albums surpassed you can extrapolate there should be roughly 13.000 full album sales and a lot of people picking up as you called it, their own favorites add an additional stream of roughly 40.000 track sales. Then there is the YT video with ads, add it all up and we're looking at ~ $150.000 - $250.000 before the (t)axman drops by. From the little I know about the tax system, my guess is $175.000 before taxes, ~ $120.000 after the taxman. . Considering this was all put together on a shoestring budget and released on his own label, I can't imagine with his fanbase and contacts he will struggle to put together a damn good serious album for 1/3 of that, if he so chooses. The curse is, he's already kind of pidgeonholed which is tough to shake. I wouldn't cast Louis CK in Shakespeare nor would I expect to see John Owen Jones performing stand up comedy. It mostly seems he is Joji off-camera and sometimes 'Behind the scenes' and otherwise expected to play Filthy Frank/Pink Guy/Frog Man etc. . Hope that helped.

This album is so crazy interesting from a psychological perspective. I see it as a commentary on the state of music and politics on the surface, but it also delves deeply into the mental state of people today, picking out insecurities and describing guilty pleasures that are more common than a lot of people think because they're never confessed. He even delves into darker topics like depression because it's one of the if not THE most common cause of things like an overactive sex drive, deviant behaviours/interests, agression, and on a totally different but equally important end, the need to express oneself. I could honestly type about it for hours. If any of my professors ever have me analyze an album for a project I'm definitely picking this.

He now has the money to produce a serious album and once that is reviewed and Joji becomes respected as an artist he can start touring/collabing. Until that time, we will have to deal with Pink Guy. Blame the fans, not the artist.

While I don't know about the backend costs he has for maybe renting equipment or w/e, for each album sale, after the cut that the platform (Itunes, Google Music etc.) takes is about $9 an album sale. Considering he reached #2, charted on Itunes, Google and Billboard and looking at the albums surpassed you can extrapolate there should be roughly 13.000 full album sales and a lot of people picking up as you called it, their own favorites add an additional stream of roughly 40.000 track sales. Then there is the YT video with ads, add it all up and we're looking at ~ $150.000 - $250.000 before the (t)axman drops by.
From the little I know about the tax system, my guess is $175.000 before taxes, ~ $120.000 after the taxman.

Considering this was all put together on a shoestring budget and released on his own label, I can't imagine with his fanbase and contacts he will struggle to put together a damn good serious album for 1/3 of that, if he so chooses.
The curse is, he's already kind of pidgeonholed which is tough to shake. I wouldn't cast Louis CK in Shakespeare nor would I expect to see John Owen Jones performing stand up comedy. It mostly seems he is Joji off-camera and sometimes 'Behind the scenes' and otherwise expected to play Filthy Frank/Pink Guy/Frog Man etc.
