I'm studying for my CSETs which are next week and I will couldn't understand how to break apart poetry. Thank you so much for explaining this in such a basic, clear, straightforward way.
Sir you are a genius. I've been reading from my textbook(it was a peice of junk which I gladly threw away) about prosody, metre for the past 2 weeks and I can't even understand a single thing it says. Today I found your video and voilà it became like a clear blue sky. Thank you so much.
Hello. This is a fabulous video. I'm a trainee English teacher and am curious if the slides are available for this video. For my personal use in case my mind goes blank at any given time!
Sometimes I wish I'd never even started looking into writing poetry. How do you even begin to wield this and still produce comprehensible sentences? I feel like I stand before a Gordian knot, and all I have to do is pick up a sword that is 147 feet long that weighs five tons to cut it.
Octameter ..."You probably know '-octa' from octopus." There may be a more condescending thing to say to a group of people who are actively interested in the the terminology of poetry in literature. I can't think of one, so kudos. You may know the letter "P", as in pig. Here, we mean "P" is for pretentious.
Hello, Yahya MF! Although I do teach college courses about educational technology, I really can't call myself a "professor"-level expert in English Literature. I made the two videos about poetry for my high school EFL classes and then shared them online. Nevertheless, if I can help you with your questions, then I would be happy to do so.
Thank you so much, teacher. I am Yahya from Morocco, I have exam of Guided reading tomorrow, 11/09/2019. Need to know the template of analysis of poem, I mean do I have to make the subject first(what is the title and who is the poet..) Than 2 theme then 3 tone then 4 figurative of language, then the form as a step 5? And my second question, is the Imagery type of analysis of poem or it is one of elements of figurative language? Thank again teacher.
@@elyahyaoui8347 There are many ways to analyze a poem. I suggest asking your English Literature instructor what your college expects. Imagery is one of the many elements of figurative language. Examining it can help you analyze a poem. Good luck on the exam.
Mini Lesson 1 is at ua-cam.com/video/AdHABKIa3Ic/v-deo.html My classes never needed more than the content of the two mini lessons, so there are no more at the moment.
You'd be surprised how complicated some people can make this. I'm glad you can make it very clear.
love you
