I thought Alison Steadman was a bit over-hysterical in the role for my taste. I also thought Susannah Harker was miscast. I don't know the name of the actor who played Wycombe's friend (the one who said "And out swagger us all, eh Wycombe?), but I thought he was a brilliant actor. He had only one or two scenes (including the one at the ball where he tells the girls why Wycombe couldn't attend), but he was pure magic each time he appeared.
@@Darcyfied I think Brenda Blethyn in the 2005 movie got it just about right. I also think Rosamund Pyke was a great choice for Jane Bennett. But overall I think the BBC version is my favourite version (just).
@@Darcyfied For me, the acting was just too wooden in the 1980 version (particularly Darcy). The reason I liked the 2005 version so much was because of the beautiful music, the gorgeous scenery, and the general overall wonderful cinematography. I have watched both the 1995 and 2005 versions dozens of times and really enjoy both. What would you put second?
Mr Collins and Mr and Mrs Bennet were incredible. The entire cast is great. I've always thought Jane was the only miscast actor in the whole series--she has the sweetness but Jennifer Ehle is prettier than her, which always sticks out when she is meant to be a perfect Mary Sue and the prettiest Bennet sister.
Boy was Sue so correct about Colin. He was absolutely Darcy. No one else play him.
It's been twenty years and Colin Firth still cuts a fine figure. Have you seen him in Kingsman?
He should play John Steed. In fact, that's basically what he's doing in Kingsman.
Thanks for posting! That's really interesting...
Dutch Girls? Does no one remember him in Valmont?
1:10 Jennifer
They all speak so little about Jennifer, as if she didn't play the main role in this drama! Is that because she is American?
They should make a blueray version of this classic! Or 4K! Yah!
They do have a blu ray of it.
I could see how Jennifer could have been The Mother of Dragons, she looks great in her natural blond
Is there a Part 3?
It was removed. :(

The role of Mrs. Bennet is probably very prone to becoming exaggerated.

@@aucourant9998 As for me, I wouldn't have put that movie as a close second. But what about 1980 then?

@@aucourant9998 Afraid you'll never get me past lukewarm for the 2005 movie. What about 1940, or the 1967 series (as far as available)?
