Sorry for the jump in audio volume ( 3:48 ) when showcasing POV photography, I need to work on my audio, I would say that is my weakness hahaha.
Just normalize audio in the whole video and republish. It's almost unwatchable, mate.
Your videos have drastically lower volume overall compared to any other video on YT or compared to system sounds on PC. You need to normalize it as Kamils said.
yeah, I need to work on that, need to see how I can improve it, because recording quality isn't the best when I put it higher in terms of that. Will see if I can possibly buy a bit better kit for audio recording. @@FreakyKiky

That is what I mean :) Boosting in edit results in more peak then I would like. And I need to find a proper holder for my mic, where I can put up a pop filter as well. @@FreakyKikyBut I could have boosted it more then I did here for sure. a bit

@@ThroughJermainesLens Just wanted to say I tried some astrophotography and this phone is ridiculously close to my mirrorless camera, and ultra raw vs jpeg is day and night 🤯
Portraits look superbly done. Of course you have lot more hands in making them the way they are but the device in your hands is good enough to support your skills.
I am fan of Mi Ultra series, with these Photography kits now and hope to own one in future.

When you do a full review can you show comparison between Leica authentic/vivid/default setting?
I will attempt to put all those in there ^^ With me I sometimes get so in to the scene I forget I am working on a video so I forget different settings haha, but I will for sure do my best to add that!

That you very much! And no, the telephoto isn't much bigger then on the 13 Pro, and that didn't have the sharpening, it is a processing issue, and it is just the telephoto, a shame :(

Nice. Agree on the sharpening. This has definitely gone up a notch or two from the Xiaomi 13 ultra in the telephoto and periscope. Perhaps it's done to compensate for the small sensors. I prefer Oppo's approach with the zoom photos on the find X7 ultra. They have a more natural approach with less sharpening especially with the 2.8x periscope.

Beaitiful shots
How is the details preserving strength in JPEG? I had a 13T. The difference in details between RAW and JPEG was huge. The JPEG always had this water colour effect, masking all the fine details. I am not sure it's because of Xiaomi-Leica's filter in general or the flaw in 13T's Mediatek ISP.
Without pixel-peeing (because it's a video), so far it is looking promising @6:24
Thank you for commenting the sharpening, I noticed it in video, in certain shots from the xiaomi promo videos. Has to look more natural... Waiting mine for testing its cinematic abilities, coming from an Xperia 1 IV 😊
Is there a photography kit in The Netherlands in stock anywhere that you know of? I only see it on Xiaomi's own site, but it is sold out there.
I got it in the Netherlands when it was being sold, but right now then it seems sadly there are none left, maybe get it from China? you can even pick the colour then.

67mm you can buy something like basically anywhere that does stuff related to camera's. Or maybe on amazon? Variable nd filters and you need 67mm

I doubt xiaomi is going to work on the sharpness issue you mentioned...but im psyched about you getting your hands on this and i'm absolutely looking forward to more content on the same...cheers!

agree. also heard from most of tech nerds in my community, xiaomi phone can give user hi-spec hardwares but don't expect software optimization..
@@ThroughJermainesLens but for now as a work around I suggest try using a pro mist filter if you can and then take the shots using the telephoto? Might help i guess

yeah I have bought this via a store in the netherlands, you just need to 67mm attachment and then you should be good to go :)
I'm going to buy one but in a few months until it's fine because there are still some problems with the cameras that need some updates to solve

I've seen all your reviews. Due to the high price of this 14 ultra and the real minor updates between this and the 13 ultra, I've bought the 13 ultra from China. I'm very pleased with the camera and I think that's really close to this. Do you agree? Does the 14u worth almost the double of cost of the 13u?
Double, no, I wouldn't say it is worth double the price :) The 13 Ultra will still do an amazing job!

I wish 14 ultra released in my country, which sadly, no... Only iqoo 12 and regular xiaomi 14. Which one do you think is better pick for me who still do point and shoot, but willing to learn a bit deeper into photography?
Both the IQOO 12 and 14 are great choices, but yes if you could get the 14 ultra that would be sweet, sucks it isn't there :(

I desperately need new phone since my rog phone 7 dead last month, leaving me only on old trusty oneplus 5. Anyway thanks and i cant wait for your next videos. for the IQOO 12 I have video's on that, and a lot to love on that! And the best in long exposure modes and star shots! not even close!
Thanks Jermaine. Yeah ASUS replaced my phone, actually i have great experience with ROG phone 7 but still... i'm still scared of data loss again, and decide to sell it. Only IQOO 12, Xiaomi 14, and S24 ultra, are available in my country. S24 Ultra is way to expensive (2x IQOO 12 price) and based on your videos, the camera is quite underwhelming. If only Xiaomi 14 ultra available here.. the choice will be much easier
Yeah s24 Ultra not worth it for photography, you buy that more for features like the s-pen, DEX and some other things, but for me not worth it. But the 14 will still do an amazing job! If you want zooming though the IQOO 12 of course does that more :)

Are there any point and shoot settings i can change to make photos more close to reality. My pixel 8 pro seems more true to life, the xiaomi blows out the colours even on authentic
Not really, you can change the EV value and makes the image a bit "darker" but that is about it, the shots I have taken here are all just normal settings auto apart from the one were I showcase RAW
@@ThroughJermainesLens ah it's annoying, the hardware is clearly better but the imagine colour accuracy and processing just isn't as good as the pixel.
You can desactivate AI (beta) for the photo with telephoto in the parameters.
I don't have AI on :) I don't like that kind of stuff, because very possibly will lead to a fake look.

@@ThroughJermainesLens It was good, they looked after me really well. I was suffering with shoulder and neck pain and went to A&E and they kept me in for 7 nights as I turned out I was having a mini heart attack and they said that if I hadn't gone to the hospital when I did, then a few days later I would have had a massive heart attack, so I feeling pretty lucky to still be here now 😀 They did a great job fixing me up and I'm resting now and slowly recovering 🤞

Please do a video about pronphoto mode and its abilities to adjust custom photo profiles.
What settings can be preset in them?
Shadow curve, tone, sharpness...
I really wish they would allow us to change various default settings for image processing on these high end phones.
Having custom profiles in pro photo mode is a start.

You can change the profile as in style, but i do not sadly see anything in terms of changing sharpness:(

Great camera. Its amongst the best. I would put it above the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Honor and One Plus best and behind Oppo Find X, Vivo X100 and the S24 Ultra.
I would put this above the s24 Ultra, S24 ultra is poor.... And that is from experience. That being said, the 14 Ultra does need work, most of it is the telephoto, the sharpening is too much!
@ThroughJermainesLens every camera comparison I've seen, thr 24 Ultra tends to stomp the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the OPPO Find X. The only phone I would put above it is the Vivo X100.
@@carver9312 i don't know what comparison that is, but the s24 ultra lacks depth, has noise issues and a lot with the ultra wide, and the character, the samsung doesn't know what that is making images look so flat.

Right now too little to compare the 2, but the 14 Ultra of course has the big advantage of a periscope^^
I love the Xiaomi 14U and was tempted to buy one in HK. However, I have two cameras at home: a Fujifilm XT20 and a Sony RX100vii, so I decided to save money instead. Also, I used Xperia 1v for everyday photography.
Oh that I can understand!!! And nice one that sony! I have heard the main thing I had a gripe with (the periscope) had an update and became a decent amount better after the software update? ^^
I'm skipping the 14 Ultra. Loved the 13 Ultra but currently playing with the Vivo x100 pro and the Xperia 1v as my primary shooters. Great video though, I do like the add on kit, I could never get one with the 13 Ultra but oh well.

I don't know what your country is? Best to look on Samsung.com and Mi.com and see if the prices are showcased there for you?

yes, which one to choose, in Malaysia the prices are quite close. Got to try the 14 ultra demo unit in the retail store, it seems a little buggy, for example switching between zoom lenses, there was a little glitch/lag@@ThroughJermainesLens do you see the same with your unit?

Trust me I get this question A LOT! hahaha, sadly Vivo has not send it over, and I am limited in budget of course with a channel size like mine, and right now it would be a bad investment for me to buy it, even more so because there is a rumored Ultra possibly coming.
What's the difference between Raw & Ultra Raw?
I haven't looked into it just yet, but from base info I would say more details on the Ultra Raw and better for editing because of it. But will look into it properly later :)

I have this 14 Ultra since this morning and I gotta say that the camera is amazing. i mean compared to my S24U, this is totally on another level.
With thag being said, I also have to admit how the Samsung is way more reliable on the software and as overall smartphone experience. It is just more stable, while on the Xiaomi I am observing little incongruences here and there. Nothing tragic, but when you spend so much money on a smartphone, the software should be better.

I think software is a bit of a wait and see, past Xiaomi 100% agreed!!! But Xiaomi seems to be working more on it now, so hopefully that side improves now with HyperOS.
for me when it comes to Xiaomi software I am perfectly fine with it, just not a fan of the apple like icons, doesn't work for me ^^
Camera wise yeah, Samsung is years behind.
@@ThroughJermainesLens moving on, how is low light performance for you? I did a quick walk right now and I got some very noisy pic. I was walking my dog tho (that boy pulls like a horse sometimes), so my test could be unreliable.
I haven't tested low light photography yet, only video (see ending, it is a work in progress though haha)

However, I have to enforce what I said earlier, the software is weird. It even doesn't preserve the camera mode all the times... Sometimes yes, other times no... I went to shoot this morning and was rather annoying. Hopefully they will push an update soon :)

I don't think the phone is limited... you only used it to photograph some leaves an trees, talking about focusing with such a noisy landscape (about minute 4:33) wewll, that happens even whit a professional camera if you use everything in auto... This is not an objective review.
The photos come out pretty nice. And I don't really see any issue with sharpening on my end.
However, for 1500€ which is what Xiaomi asks for the 14 Ultra and "photography kit" (which is just a rip-off of the Nokia 909 camera grip, let's be real), the phone would have to not suck in all other areas. And it does. From the lack of microSD, to lack of headphone jack, to oversized screen (curved, to add insult to injury), and the absolutely unusable software experience...yeah, it's a big no from me.
For 1500€ I can get a superior Canon DSLR with a better lens. And if the Nokia 909 taught me anything is that these "camera kits" become as cumbersome as taking a proper DSLR on vacations.
Back when these things cost 600€-700€ (the price of the Nokia 909 on Launch) one could still justify buying it just for photos.
For more than double that? Absolutely not.
To be fair yes you would get a better DSLR for it haha, micro 4/3 and Canon is amazing in their style! I love Canon! (might need to see if I can get a cheap Canon like 250D after selling my S24 Ultra because it is just a hinder that phone lol)
And for the price, to be fair you cannot truly compare those times with current because inflation, with that being said 1500 is a lot of money! for me it was lucky enough 1299, and then with the 13 pro sold it saved money as well, and I get tax return because it is an investement for my company.
For me the sharpening is an issue, it is too much, needs to chill a bit.
@@ThroughJermainesLensI've actually sold my Panasonic G9 to get this. It was pretty unused lately. I would go as far as to say that this phone's cameras pretty much put it into pocket. Especially considering dynamic range, all cams on 14 Ultra perform better. Hell, the main sensor here can take vivid pics without any burns against direct light with shadows and highlights being clear. I don't know how they do it, but they did. Plus it fits in my pocket. I'd say that just for that alone, 1500€ when you can still get photography kit as a bonus is pretty reasonable. Will be testing it against Sony A7ii next week.
@@ThroughJermainesLens700€ in 2013, adjusted for inflation, would be around 890€ today. Still a looong way away from the 1500 they're asking.
Even if you manage to get it at a discount for those 1200, there's simply no 1200 worth of phone in these Xiaomi phones (and even less on the S24U since what OneUI makes up in software quality, loses in camera).
