    Oh you kids!
I was in my first year of college when my buddies and I took a road trip to see Star Wars (the first one, that they now call A New Hope) two weeks before it would open in our town. We ended up having to sit a little too close to an enormous screen in a very crowded theater. It was wonderful!!
I saw that movie twenty two times that summer because that's what we were all doing. But I wasn't a Star Wars fan. I was there to watch the special effects. George Lucas was doing something completely new.
I was all about Star Trek and I had no patience for this space opera.
It's still my very favorite Star Wars movie, though Rogue One is a very close second.
I never cared about Darth Vader any more than I ever cared about Snidley Whiplash.
After the first movie we all cried "Darth Vader lives!" After The Empire Strikes back we cried "Darth Vader Lies!"
It was The Force Awakens that finally made me a Star Wars fan for the first time ever. After that I just couldn't get enough.
I started watching The Mandalorian, but decided I needed to learn more about Mandalorians so I watched Attack of the Clones (my favorite of the prequels) again and the binged The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
I really like The Mandalorian and I just can't stop rewatching Ahsoka. My very favorite actor playing my very favorite Star Wars character. I think all the series are quite good, and very rewatchable.
Andor is a great collection of about three or four (or five) interlocked stories about the early rebellion against the Empire.
This new series looks at an earlier period of time than I am aware of in Star Wars history and I'm curious to see where they go with this. I believe the way the Jedi over-talk everything is much to the point.
This is a lot about how the long peace enforced by the Jedi was ultimately weak in such a way that a search for balance in the Force became a big issue by the time of the movies.

Thanks for the shout out about that Star Wars Hotel video. I haven't watched it yet, I still have to set aside the time, but I'm impressed she took four hours to really explain what was wrong with it.
It's clear that everyone has a different idea of what Star Wars is.

I really liked the first 2 episodes of Acolyte. Excited to see more. Andor was still a struggle to get through at this point but I agree it's awesome and well worth the wait.
Edit: What happened to Corey Vidal? I loved ApprenticeA and EH back in the day!

Mae challenges Master Indara who replies "Jedi do not attack the unarmed." Mae says that's a lie and then starts attacking a bunch of unarmed bar patrons.
Again, Star Wars: It's not supposed to make sense.

About Godzilla: you should watch the newish Shin Godzilla (2016) if you haven't! Also focuses on the characters, the government bureaucracy, and dedication of the Japanese people to be self-reliant and to persevere. Fantastic film!

Star Wars has become a controversial topic! 😂 I'm a 90s kid so, unsurprisingly, I enjoy the prequels. I struggle with the sequels (though I liked The Force Awakens) because they just don't feel like the thing George Lucas made. Ya know? Like the prequels have his touch and the sequels don't, and the rest of the Star Wars shows. So they just feel different in a way I don't like as much. There are certainly aspects of the sequels that make them better films though.
On the controversy of The Last Jedi - I really struggled with it. Really high highs, really low lows. The Rise of Skywalker... doesn't exist. 😛

Love Andor! Love Rogue One! Solo was good, but I'm more annoyed that it exists. I like the mystery of Han. Don't need his backstory.

Rise of Skywalker is the worst Star Wars movie, and its not close.

The prequels have too much movement for my gen x brain to process. It's overwhelming. You nailed it, the original trilogy feels "lived in". That's just right.

JJ had a full storyline for the trilogy, and Rian Johnson tossed it out when disney gave him free rein. Thats why Rise of Skywalker felt so rushed, it was JJ trying to shove two movies worth (what should have been episode 8 and episode 9) into one movie. Also I like your star cadet shirt

The Lego Movie is great for background noise. SO glad I found it on Netflix recently. I think I have 4 episodes left of Andor. It's true, it is really slow going. Maybe someday (it's been over a year) I'll finish it. I liked The Mandalorian, because Baby Yoda is my Kryptonite.
Ok I just gasped when you said you like The Force Awakens more than the original trilogy. Then, maybe I agree...? Eeek. I liked 7, 8 and 9, even with the problems 8 and 9 have. Love Phantom Menace. 2 and 3 were great, then terrible, then got better with time between viewings. Before I even know if you mention it, I like Solo.

Possibly because we were born the same year but I almost completely agree with your Star Wars take, other than Rogue One, though I haven't seen the Acolyte yet.

Unfortunately yes talking about starwars is like talking about politics. It's ridiculous, I can't talk to my dad about starwars anymore because it always turns into boycotting new starwars.

Watching the first episode of the Accolyte as I'm watching you. I won't be watching anymore of it. Both I and my wife have said the Accolyte doesn't even feel like Star Wars.

I always liked the OG trilogy, grew up with the prequels (but honestly the nostalgia doesn't hit me). I do like most series now, I liked The Force Awakens and Rogue One, but The Last Jedi is just eh

I'm tired of TV shows trying to pace themselves like one very long movie. I like that they're tackling bigger stories, but that shouldn't come at the expense of slow, less compelling episodes at the beginning that you have to push past. For some shows, I'm willing to push through, but we shouldn't have to. The first couple of episodes will rarely be the best part of the season (and arguably that would be a bad thing), but they should at least get you genuinely interested in the story to where it doesn't feel like a chore to get past them to the actual good stuff, you know?

Andor is so good, it makes me sick. The branching character/story lines starting from a single inciting incident is, in my opinion, a much better way to tell a story. And yes, following only one character and story line at the beginning can feel slow, but slow doesn't always mean bad. In the beginning of that kind of story telling, it often tends to simply be a result of following only one, of what eventually grows into several, story lines and characters. Anyway, it's one of the only shows I've watched several times over. It gets better every time, and makes the other shows harder to watch by comparison.

I haven't watched The Acolyte yet. I saw Variety's review that it's the best Star Wars project since Andor, even though it's the exact opposite (no Jedi vs. oops all. Jedi) so I'm hopeful that it's good. I heard the fight choreography is actually really good.

I just lost interest in Star wars a long time ago. I am not mad it exists. If people enjoy i am glad they do but i simply don't care.
